Cal-Tex Enterprises
Appliance Repair Technician · Converse, TX
About
Cal-Tex Enterprises handles appliance repair calls in Converse, Texas. They service refrigerators, ovens, washers, dryers, ice makers and glass top stoves, often through warranty programs tied to manufacturers such as LG, Samsung, Frigidaire and Marvel or retailers like Home Depot and Lowe's. Appointments get set through dispatch lines, with techs sometimes wearing ID badges and calling ahead on arrival.
Customers describe Isaac diagnosing refrigerator and stove issues on the spot and finishing work in under two hours on multiple warranty jobs. Fernando has been credited with walking through ice maker steps during a Lowe's claim. Other calls involve leaking fridges that stay unfixed after visits, ovens that need repeated service without results, dryers requiring four trips with new charges each time, and cases where a door sensor or ice buildup problem led to extra fees and no fix. Some visits left cabinet damage or made leaks worse.
They book next-day slots in some instances and answer phones directly without long holds. Techs arrive inside stated windows on successful runs and quote parts plus labor after checking units. Service stretches to outdoor refrigerators and side-by-side models, though missed arrivals between noon and five or unreturned messages after 4:30 appear in several accounts, along with charges for power shutoff help or extra diagnostics.
The company shows a Google rating of 2.3 from 30 reviews, with repeated notes on scheduling gaps, multiple trips on the same units and communication shortfalls. DIRT Score 1.4 from 30 reviews on Finds.

“I called the night before the appointment date, which was on 08/26/ 2026 and left a voicemail. I called close to 8 o’clock in the morning and told them that my son would be home but just to keep knocking or ringing the doorbell because he gets home till about 1:30 in the morning after work. They called me and since I work at a credit union, I cannot use my phone therefore I kept calling them back-and-forth . I gave my son the number to my son. My son called them but the guy that apparently was supposed to come over didn’t have voicemail set up so we couldn’t leave a voicemail, and he never called back to the number that my son was calling from. My son missed work today and now they want to reschedule for tomorrow between eight and one. That is ridiculous! Unless they pay me for those hours, then I’ll schedule that appointment. Bad service, bad attitude from the person that answered the phone. They would not give me the phone number the for the person that I needed to call or anybody above or higher than the manager.”
“Samsung sent a tech from this company. Initially he didn't know what the error code he got while running the diagnostics mean. He called someone and discussed the results, then he left because he didn't have the parts (when I first called Samsung I told them the glass on the oven door had cracked and the oven wasn't heating). They came a week later and fixed the oven but damaged the cabinet in the process. The company will not take responsibility for the damage to my property. DO NOT USE THEM FOR APPLIANCE REPAIR!!!”
“Issac provided outstanding service when repairing my glass top stove. He is exceptionally customer service oriented, taking the time to explain the process clearly and ensuring I felt confident in the work being done. His expertise was evident—he is highly skilled, knowledgeable, and efficient, handling the repair with precision and professionalism. What stood out most was his patience and willingness to answer every question thoroughly, never making me feel rushed. Issac is a true professional, and I would highly recommend him to anyone. He is the type of technician I will always request for future service.”
“Poor tech customer service. Inexperienced. The tech came to fix a leake on the fridge and couldnt fix it....made the leake worse and just left. The company did not sent another tech or attempted to follow up better the bad experience .”
“Red Flag—do not use. Over 250. spent with no results on an oven. Could not diagnosis' with multiple service call fees. Even had my wife out in the yard to turn off power and charged me! Door of oven exploded after improper installation of an element—who takes a door off to unscrew an element… DO NOT USE this company!”
“I called Cal-Tex to schedule a repair appointment for my LG side-by-side refrigerator. The person I spoke with over the phone was very professional and courteous. The technician, Isaac, called me about half an hour prior to his arrival, arrived at my home within the appointment window, and had an employee ID badge displayed. Isaac swiftly diagnosed the problem and made the needed repairs in less than two hours. Isaac was very professional and courteous. The price for repairs was reasonable and I am satisfied with the workmanship. I recommend Cal-Tex and plan to use them in the future for any needed appliance repairs.”
“Cal-tex recently serviced my washer through a Home Depot warranty. Filing the claim wasn't the easiest experience. I've never had to have a major appliance serviced so didn't know what to expect, especially with some of the negative reviews online. I can honestly say Isaac with Cal-tex couldn't have been nicer and more professional. The washer is working like new again. If we ever need to use an appliance warranty again, I'll absolutely be requesting Cal-tex for the service.”
“I had a appointment today betweet 12:00 to 5:00 pm.. i was home all day waiting for them to show up and they never showed up. I returned a miss call from Fernando. He said because I didn’t answer my phone. They were coming to my house . I didn’t know I was supposed to sit by my phone and wait for them to call. They didn’t come. He said he didn’t wanna waste his time to show up to my house and no would be home. . He was extremely rude.. I tried calling the office from 4:30 to 5 and no one answered. Fernando said they were gone for the day. I thought they closed at 5:00 pm. I asked for the owners name he refused to give me any information.. Nowhere does it say when I made the appointment you have to be by your phone and wait for the service department sure. Fernando was very rude and your office is supposed to close at five. You were closed at 4:30. Fernando also said he was a service manager, I would be wasting my time calling and speaking to the owners and complaining. and while I was on the phone with him, I guess he was picking up his children because he was talking to them. Bad customer servic!! I guess it’s Friday everyone wants to go home early”
“Honestly, I'm not sure why the bad reviews. Every time we call the phone is answered or they call us back immediately. Honestly, I can only think of one time out of the approximately 10 times I called in which I had to leave a message because all the other times they pick up. Maybe people have to gotten used to the AI computer phone tree and don't want to speak with a live person anymore. But I've had no problem in this area. In the two times we've used them for warranty work on our LG, Isaac has been very knowledge, professional, and respectful. They have scheduled us for the next day or two both times and one time, they tried to call us to tell us he was in the area, but we missed the phone call so that was on us. Here again, I do not agree with the bashing reviews unless everyone expects instant service and results these days, which rarely exists anywhere so please have some patience. Due to these reviews, we were skeptical when he told us our problem was with the button and not the mother board. We almost felt like canceling, but I'm glad we didn't. I humbly expressed my concerns to Isaac because I'm not a repair man and there's too many "Google experts" out there these days”
“The service and experience I receive through Cal-Tex was absolutely horrendous and inexcusable. Cal-Tex was sent out by LG through a warranty call. The technician "diagnosed" the no-cool issue on the refrigerator as someone having left the door open. Thus not covered under warranty and charged me $135 to remove ice from the compressor and told us to leave it unplugged for 48 hours. Around 54 hours later we plug the unit back in, the next day the exact same issue arises. Called Cal-Tex and the woman answering the phones said it would cost another $95 plus any parts and labor. I told her it shouldn't, As the issue was misdiagnosed. During the course of this conversation the woman responded with a series of sighs and scoffs and explained that there is no way they misdiagnosed the issue, as their technician called LG and did what they said. An LG technician showed up, within 5 minutes diagnosed the issue as a blockage on the condenser side, replaced it and left all under warranty. After speaking with Cal-Tex and demanding a refund I was told their supervisor is working and has no signal, will call me back tomorrow. It's been three days since then. No return. Additionally, Upon spe”
“I recently made a warranty claim through Lowes for the ice maker within my refrigerator. From the beginning, Alejandra was very kind and helpful when it came to scheduling my appointment. Fernando was the technician that came out to my house. His communication and customer service skills are above and beyond. I've had other technicians come out to work on the ice maker through my Lowes warranty plan, and no one was as thorough as Fernando when it came to explaining the process and going through the necessary steps to making sure the issue is resolved. An overall awesome experience.”
“Bad repair and bad service. They have been out 4 x to try to fix our 2 year old dryer and want to charge us each time and say it’s something different. We made the original repair appointment through Lowe’s where we purchased the dryer. One of those repairs we waited for 5 hours in the window provided. We called twice to see when repair person would arrive. The second call we were told he didn’t have time to stop by. No call or anything. People change their work schedules to wait for the repair only to be blown off! Lowe’s has also received feedback.”
“Cal-Tex facilitated a repair through a Lowe's warranty for me and I am very pleased thus far. Isaac from their office came out, looked at the issue and troubleshot it down to a part that is rare to have issue and would need to be ordered. He explained the troubleshooting steps he took and how he deduced the problem part. He was clean, friendly, well spoken, and did a great job. I look forward to their return and final resolution of the issue. Will update then. UPDATE: Isaac came back out once the part arrived. Arrived on time and prepared, was very professional, walked me through the steps he was taking, replaced the part, and did a once over to verify everything was working. I gave it a few days after the replacement to make sure everything worked right and everything is perfect. Cannot recommend this team enough. Rest assured, if you are assigned CAL-TEX as the repair company for a warranty repair you are in good hands. I hope I never have to utilize my Lowe's warranty again, but if I do I'll request Cal-tex.”
“Greetings to all who find this, Do yourself a favor, STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!! I have a leaking refrigerator, purchased from Home Depot. So the malfunctioning ice maker dripped down the front of the refrigerator causing surface damage to the left french door and water/ice chute. Cal-Tex came out, assessed the problem and "fixed it". A week later it started pouring water again, "Not Fixed." The young man that came out was the same to respond to the second service call. It was then that he agreed the door was damaged and needed to be replaced. Following so far? - defective ice maker unit - caused damage to my refrigerator door So it's come to this, the door was denied. According to Home Depot, it wasn't added as additional damage. Cal-Tex just asked for one, called it replacement due to some kind of damage, that isn't covered anyway. Unbelievable! So I've wasted hours of my time explaining the situation to Home Depot. Finally it has been accepted as covered. Summation- Cal-Tex has some MAJOR ISSUES!!! 1. You HAVE to do a better job ordering parts for your customers. 2. Who ever the lady is in your office that answers the phone.... Oh My God! You seriously need to find someone e”
“My husband and I had an outdoor kitchen built. Within a year, the refrigerator door sensor was consistently beeping although the door was shut properly. We called the kitchen design company and they contacted the fridge manufacture. Caltex was sent by the manufacturer (Marvel) to repair an outdoor refrigerator. After numerous attempts to schedule a service call, the appointment was made and a technician arrived to make the repair. The refrigerator was malfunctioning again by the end of the day. When I contacted them, they suggested the rubber seal on the door was dirty and refused to come back. I went back through the installer and Marvel again had Caltex contact us to make the repair. Again, their scheduler did a very poor job. When we finally agreed to a date and time, they didn't arrive. I called to complain and the "manager" refused to let me speak with the owner, refused to give me her name, and then hung up on me and would not answer when I called back. This is certainly not a reflection on Marvel or the outdoor kitchen designer we used. It is a reflection of incompetence and poor customer service on the part of Caltex. I wonder if the owner(s) are aware of what th”
“Frigidaire sent tech from this company to fix new refrigerator that was having an an build up of ice in the freezer. Tech came out and said he didn't know what the problem was but would research the problem and call back with solution. He never did and canceled ticket through Frigidaire. Frigidaire sent a tech from a different company and it was a faulty seal and was fixed that day.”
“If you need an appliance repaired, DO NOT take it to this location. Do yourself a favor and keep looking for a business with better reviews because the reviews here are valid. Customer service is poor, business ethics is poor, and they are definitely NOT a reputable business that Scotsman should be recommending on their website. The service we requested this business to perform was not the service we received. In fact, we were overcharged for materials and labor is questionable. We requested the unit to be cleaned, replacement of the unit feet, and asked them to throw in a new scooper that fits in the holder. They descaled the unit, hooked it up to their bathroom sink water supply that is hard water next to the toilet. The unit looked filthier than when we dropped it off, any hard water buildup on the inside of the unit looked the same if not worse than when we dropped it off for cleaning. Parts and cleaning solution that cost a few bucks on amazon were ridiculously marked up. It took them 2 1/2 weeks to replace two parts that could have been done at another Scotsman location in San Marcos within an hour. It would have been worth the drive. Furthermore, if you pay nearly ”
“Called on one day, got an appointment for next day. They showed promptly and diagnosed problem. Since problem was not urgent, they promised a call back with prices for the 2 required parts and labor. They called Monday and gave us a quote which we accepted. Came Tuesday and completed the work, adjusting the bill down $50 because it took less time than they estimated in quote. Repairman wore shoe covers and mask; and cleaned everything he touched and some things he didn’t. Will definitely use again when needed and will highly recommend to others.”
“Please be smart and read these other reviews. Keep looking elsewhere Unprofessional office staff. Unforgiving after you have adjusted your schedule! customer service is not important to the owners. The only good thing I have to say is the technician who came out to my residence was the complete opposite of what I had countered with the front office. I had to take the day off to accommodate their schedules. They over book their technicians. Not courteous to Front Line Workers during COVID who need their appointments the first time they are made.”
“The first tech that came out took one look at the fridge at some liquid in the collection tray and said it was a leak and he could not fix it. Had to wait 3 days for the more experienced tech to come out He said it was not a leak and found the real issue. Unfortunately he had to order parts. That took a week and then he did not show up at his promised time for his appointment. This company does not care about their customers. Would not recommend and wish I had another choice but this is who my fridge manufacture forced me to use.”
