Appliance Repair Technician · Pflugerville, TX
About
ACT Appliance Repair performs appliance repair work in Pflugerville, Texas. The company handles cooktops, washers, dryers, refrigerators, ovens, and dishwashers. Services include replacing water pumps and shock absorbers on washers, cleaning pump screens and spray arms on dishwashers, and addressing condenser issues on refrigerators. Calls often come through home warranty providers such as American Home Shield, after which technicians are sent for diagnosis and part replacement.
Customers describe repeated visits for the same appliances. Roman completed dishwasher repairs that held up over time and fixed a refrigerator on an earlier job. Elvin replaced a dryer heating element during a short visit. Other jobs involved multiple attempts on refrigerator control boards, compressors, and circuit boards, along with washer pump replacements and dishwasher bracket fixes. Several cases required parts to be ordered after the first visit, with some appliances left nonfunctional for weeks or months.
Scheduling runs through warranty systems and can stretch across weeks with last-minute cancellations. Technicians sometimes arrive late or miss windows entirely. Communication occurs mainly by text or phone, though some customers note technicians with limited English who rely on translation tools during diagnosis. Parts delays add to the timeline, and follow-up calls to the office often start over with new staff each time.
The Google rating is 2.1 from 185 reviews. Recurring topics include misdiagnosis that leaves root problems untouched, repairs that fail within months, extended periods without working appliances, and difficulty reaching anyone who tracks prior notes on a case.

What Customers Say
“I am in the middle of getting my washer repaired. It’s been broken for 5-6 weeks now. The first visit was conducted hastily - the repair guy showed up, did a quick diagnosis and ran out the door as quickly as he came with the diagnosis of broken water pump. I wait two weeks for the water pump to be ordered, go through American Home Shield for approval (process is worse than health insurance) and then another week for the followup appointment to be scheduled. Repair guy comes with the water pump, replaces the part but finds another problem with the shock absorbers. He runs out the door again to find a replacement and can’t - I can’t tell anymore if it’s all a dramatic enactment. He promises to rush order the shock absorbers - it’s been 2 weeks and I am still waiting. I escalated the issue to American Home Shield, which resulted in conciliatory automated text messages from ACT informing me that the part has been ordered but NO ETA. In the meantime, I have tried to call these guys directly more than 15 times and they never pick up the phone. There is an option to coordinate via text message. I choose thy option and the response rate is less than 50%. And when they do promise to check”
“Review I had a very bad experience with ACT Appliance Services, and I would not recommend this company. The technician came to repair my refrigerator, but the problem was not fixed. Instead, I experienced additional problems with the refrigerator afterward. Communication was also very difficult because the technician had trouble communicating in English. Then, yesterday, they called me and confirmed that a technician would come to my home. I had already confirmed my address with them beforehand. However, when I called because nobody showed up, they claimed they could not find my address. I don’t understand how that is possible when I had already confirmed the address with them. Overall, I am extremely disappointed with their service and communication. Based on my experience, I would not recommend ACT Appliance Services. Please be careful and consider using a different appliance repair company.”
“My experience with ACT Appliances was one of the most frustrating service experiences I have ever had. The technician arrived to diagnose my dishwasher issue, but it quickly became apparent that he was unable to communicate in English. Nearly the entire interaction had to be conducted through Google Translate on his phone. While I understand that many hardworking technicians may speak different languages, customers should reasonably expect a technician to be able to communicate clearly about the diagnosis, repair process, required parts, and next steps without relying exclusively on translation software. The visit raised additional concerns when the technician asked for access to my home's Wi-Fi network. When I asked why this was necessary for a dishwasher diagnosis, I never received a clear explanation due to the communication difficulties. Most frustrating of all was the complete lack of follow-through. Before leaving, I was told that the company would contact me later that same day regarding scheduling and next steps. That never happened. After waiting and following up myself, I learned that ACT Appliances had apparently still not submitted the technician's notes or diagnosi”
“They were booked through american home shield twice. I cant remember the first gentleman‘s name because that was about a year ago, but most recently it was Roman: Roman fixed my dishwasher and it is working just fine to date. The previous technician fixed my refrigerator and it also is working perfectly to date. No complaints regarding scheduling, transparency, or attention to detail. They have been a huge help being that we are quite reliant on our appliances in this coddled existence.”
“My home warranty demands I use this joke of a service company. Everything they have “repaired” has broken again within 3 months. Dishwasher? Broken multiple times in a 9 month period. Same with the microwave. How does the same repair company keep on installing parts that fail? Don’t use this company if you have a joke. Horrible service, horrible communication, HORRIBLE WORK. Spend your money on a company that stands by their work and hires tenured specialists.”
“Run, run, run. I can't stress enough: do not use this company. You'll regret it. We've been without an oven for 7 weeks. They will cancel on you at the last minute, are terrible communicators, and will leave you hanging. They hide behind their text messaging system, and their management team refuses to return calls. Terrible, horrible company. Their owner and management clearly do not care about their reputation or customer service. If you are referred to them under your home warranty company refuse them. They do not deserve your business.”
“One of the worst contractor experiences we’ve ever had through American Home Shield. The technician arrived with a dismissive attitude, barely looked at the actual issues, and repeatedly responded with “normal” to almost every concern instead of doing a proper inspection. Rather than explaining things professionally, he made sarcastic remarks and even mocked us by asking if we expected a brand-new stove. He then left our home before the discussion was even finished. The company’s customer service was just as frustrating. They repeatedly call asking for updates, yet nobody seems to read previous notes or take ownership of the case. Every conversation starts from scratch with a different representative, complaints go nowhere, promised callbacks never happen, and at one point our call was simply disconnected. What’s especially disappointing is that we’ve worked with other American Home Shield contractors before and had respectful, professional experiences, so this situation stood out for all the wrong reasons. At this point, the biggest issue is no longer the appliance itself — it’s the complete lack of professionalism, accountability, communication, and basic respect shown throug”
“I’ve been without a refrigerator for OVER a month and a half.. I reported it to my home warranty Dec 3 and they assigned this company. Video diagnosis was on Dec 5. They came Dec 12 for the part and never took it, said they just needed to order the part now. Came back on Dec 16 because now they need the part. Dec 18 they told me 5-7 weeks for repair but then changed their mind to 5-7 business days when I said I would just check into an alternative option. They had me go through the holidays without a fridge. It’s now Jan 14 and I still don’t have a working fridge. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! If your home warranty uses this company GET REASSIGNED! I’ll be looking into alternative options and a lawyer because I’ve been more than patient and this is ridiculous.”
“Worst service ever, and terrible diagnosis ability. They came by to look at my broken fridge 3-4 times, and each time decided the control board was the problem. It took them 4 MONTHS to get the control board replaced the second time, which was obvious that wasn't the problem. I told the warranty company to assign another company and they fixed the issue in 20 minutes. During that 4 months: - The tech didn't speak any english, didn't attempt to use a translate app or anything sensical - When asking to speak to his manager he said he doesn't know who it is, he just enters info in his system - During this time, they blamed "pests" and other issues, of which there were none. Clearly trying to skirt warranty firm rules for an extra buck. - Calling their support number couldn't give me any info or any idea of what to do next, and just shipping a part back and forth took 3 weeks. Avoid this firm like the plague”
“Extremely disappointing experience!! 5 weeks and 4 visits later the appliance was still broken. Got another company out and turned out that they had misdiagnosed the root the entire time. Was a 5 minute fix after the right root cause was identified. The technician also took 4 full work days to report his diagnosis to the back office. Huge waste of time, while we had to hand wash everything in the meantime with 3 kids at home. Stay away is my recommendation”
“After two visits, ACT was unable to repair my refrigerator. The service tech assured me the problem was the compressor, but that was not the issue. The worst part of the service received was how the tech left the wiring to my refrigerator. See the pictures below. I am now unable to plug the refrigerator into the electrical socket. He wasn’t professional enough to place the wires back to the way he found AND he made the repair worst than when he started.”
“Do not use!!!!!!! Our home warranty company contracted them to fix our dishwasher. In the process they broke one of the brackets and used zip ties as a fix. Then lied to our home warranty company causing us to foot the bill to purchase replacement parts and all of the time and energy spent locating the correct parts.”
“Extremely frustrating experience and poor customer service. If I could give 0 stars, I would. The technician did not take the time to listen to or properly investigate the issue. The microwave is failing intermittently, and despite showing video evidence and sending it to the service team twice, the issue was dismissed without proper troubleshooting. Very disappointed with the service.”
“This company is beyond frustrating.!!! I have been out of a working fridge and the refuse to update me on what part I need for my fridge and when I can get scheduled. I am stuck using them because of my home warranty, but keep complaining on how unprofessional they are. They don’t answer their phone ever, the wait time is forever and they don’t do emails.! I’m on hold with them currently waiting to see what the part is and when I can get scheduled for the fridge. Been waiting over week and everytime I get ahold of them they say they will respond within 24-48 hrs…. Still nothing days later!”
“I had an excellent experience with ACT Appliances in Pflugerville. I had broken parts on both my refrigerator and dishwasher, and I was referred to ACT on a Friday afternoon. They reached out bright and early Monday morning to get me scheduled, which I really appreciated. I accidentally forgot about the appointment, and their team was friendly, responsive, and flexible in helping me reschedule. When the technician arrived, Elvin was professional, very kind, and extremely knowledgeable. He ordered the parts, and they arrived within two days—wow! Once everything came in, Elvin completed the repairs quickly and had everything running again in no time. I’ve used ACT in the past and will continue to request them. Highly recommend!”
“We had an appointment booked through American Home Shield, our refrigerator stopped working and the first appointment was 4 days out so we took it. Our appointment window was this morning from 8am-12pm, they called to cancel at 10am after my husband already took the morning off work. They offered to reschedule us next Tuesday. So, if you’re in a hurry to have a working appliance look elsewhere.”
“Feel I should update the review from the prior below: After the missed appointment, they had my repair person back within a week and arriving in the given window. He was cordial, and efficient. Found a burnt circuit board that he had to order, and just inside of two weeks they had the part and my microwave working again. I'd of course like a quicker resolution, but that's still as in line for appliance repair as I expect from any firm. Still not going to bump past 3 for the initial miss, but I'm happy with the repair. Last: No showed my four hour appointment window. When I called the line in the text a half hour before the close of the window (as the evening before appointment text said the line would be closing with my window and I wanted to make sure I reached someone while I still could to check on the status), it auto answered saying they would be back in office on Monday and to email for status updates. I did so, but my email was never responded to.”
“We use ACT through our home warranty. It is key that you put in your make and model in the home warranty system before you call for repairs. This allows for a one stop efficient repair. They dispatched Elvin out to fix my dryer. He was in and out of my house in 15 minutes and my dryer heating element was replaced and I'm back in the mom business! Thanks Elvin and ACT! Extremely pleased.”
“This company has been a disappointment! All you reach is a call center in another country, then they pitch jobs out to random contractors. It has now been a months since our fridge has been down. They have come out and performed 3 repairs, no resolution. Then every time they schedule to try something new it takes a over a week to get back out. AHS is also a joke! They never team up with legit companies. They always hire 1-3star companies that usually are new or haveless than par reputations.”
“I am not sure this is a legitimate business but American Home Shield still decided to trust them with my home warranty service call, and fee. The technician had a thick accent and wrongfully wrote the issue up as "damaged" and not normal wear and tear. The door hinge clearly gave out from corrosion over 15 years of use. It would be impossible for me to damage this part without damaging anything else around it. I have tried for 6 weeks to get this sorted with both American Home Shield and Act Appliance and it has been painful. Save yourself the agony and use anyone else.”
