DJ's Custom Cabinets

DJ's Custom Cabinets operates out of Justin, Texas, and is run by owner Don Dockery. The company builds high-end custom cabinets designed to fit specific spaces. They handle kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, office cabinets, bookcases, and reclaimed wood cabinets. They also do refacing on existing units along with new builds for vanities, built-ins, entertainment centers, floating shelves, laundry room configurations, and barn doors.

Customers call them for dated kitchens that need updating, new home cabinet plans after bad prior experiences, laundry rooms needing better layouts, and custom pieces like bookshelves or vanities to match exact visions. Reviews describe Don and his crew turning orange oak cabinets into show pieces through refacing and additions, delivering perfect fits on floating shelves, and installing laundry cabinets in a few hours with solid plywood boxes. Other jobs include kitchen remodels with soft-close features, office setups with flexible shelving for electronics, and entertainment centers that hold up and get modified years later.

Don responds quickly to messages, meets at the shop or job site for measurements and CAD drawings, walks through the build process, and sets clear expectations on timing and scope like excluding painting. His install team finishes on schedule, keeps the workspace clean, and handles adjustments fast, such as delivering a missing shelf the same day. Work covers the North-DFW area with pricing that lines up with others but stands out for material quality and no pushy add-ons.

“DJ’S Custom Cabinets turned our dated lackluster orange oak kitchen cabinets into a show piece. Don and crew did an amazing job refacing existing units and building new cabinets. You can expect open communications, high quality products and an eye for detail. We couldn’t be happier with the final results.”

“We had Don and his crew build new cabinets for our kitchen. We are very pleased with the quality and how great they were to work with”

“We recently worked with DJ's Custom Cabinets and had an outstanding experience from start to finish. Don was incredibly responsive and took the time to walk us through every step of the process, ensuring we felt confident and informed throughout. The project was completed in a timely manner, and the quality of the work truly speaks for itself. Don’s craftsmanship is exceptional—every detail was handled with care and precision. It’s clear he takes great pride in what he does. We’re thrilled with the final result and wouldn’t hesitate to use DJ's Custom Cabinets again for future projects. Highly recommended!”

“I requested DJs cabinets to review a set of new cabinet plans for our new home. I had already had a terrible experience with a cabinet builder we had used once before, I certainly did not want to replicate that experience. When I met Don at his cabinet shop I knew we would work well together. After discussing my expectations, budget and time frame - I felt confident Don would produce and build beautiful cabinets for our new home. Don has that drive to perfect his craft and meet the expectations and beyond of his clients. Don took time to explain his build process, why the wood we chose would bring the most beautiful outcome and finished product. Dons install crew mirror his strive for excellence - you can tell they have been working together in great harmony for years. Added plus - Dons shop mascot ( he lives out side) is an adorable piggy 🐷.”

“We moved into our house a few months ago and wanted a more useful cabinet configuration in our laundry room. After researching cabinet builders in the area, we contacted DJ’s Customer Cabinets. Don came out and consulted with us - listened to what we wanted, took measurements, and then provided some recommendations about how to configure the project. He also clearly set expectations around timing and what would be included (specifically that they don’t do the painting). For the installation his crew came out and completed the job in just a few hours - high quality material and installation. We would definitely use them again for future projects. Pics include the initial install and after we completed the painting and added the handles.”

“Looked around at several cabinet builders for the remodel I was doing for my kitchen. A few things stood out in the whole process The initial price was in line with other builders but what stood out was he uses plywood boxes not higher grade particle. My walls were just studs. When the cabinets were installed it was a great fit which was a relief due to all the moving parts. He understood what I was asking made suggestions without being pushy. I am pleased with his suggestions and think it looks great. The install seemed to go pretty smoothly, the crew showed care to maintain quality. The cabinets turned out well, fit well. The sink fit perfectly into cabinet. Love the soft close drawers and doors. I will use them again for the master bath and closet when it's time for that. I highly recommend them.”

“Don and his team were wonderful to work with! Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail when creating our custom vanities. Will absolutely use DJ Custom Cabinets again for future projects!”

“We are first time remodelers and first time to buy custom cabinets. Didn’t know where to start but I am a Mechanical Engineer with 25 years in a STEM field - I know what a good process and quality work looks like. After searching the North-DFW complex for cabinet makers, we settled on DJ’s Custom Cabinets hoping for the best. They had great reviews, but not very many. I cannot express how much we love the work Don, Steve, craftsmen/women, and install team did on our kitchen. Don and team conducted 2 site reviews to include a detailed measurement and CAD laydown. We saw our plan laid out before they started building. We had the opportunity to review, make changes, and make custom requests (e.g. drawer dividers, range hood, and pantry). Don’s been doing this for more than 20 years and he and Steve will help you with cabinet style, cabinet reveal, molding, wood grade vs paint grade, baseboards, and the other 2-dozen details that you haven’t thought about yet (e.g. load capacity of drawer slides, joinery, solid wood/plywood construction, appliance integration details, etc.). He invited my wife and I to his fabrication building and showed us the cabinets during assembly. His carpentry p”

“DJ’s Custom Cabinets were amazing to work with for our kitchen remodel! Don was very timely and responsive with communication, explained everything clearly, and did his best to work with our timeline. A few things came up along the way and Don was very quick to help us find solutions. A few weeks after the cabinets were installed, we realized a shelf was missing. We had painters scheduled for the next morning. Don answered my message immediately and had the shelf built and delivered it to us within a few hours! He is honest and trustworthy. The cabinets are absolutely beautiful and we couldn’t be happier with it! Our dream kitchen! We will definitely be calling Don again for future projects!”

“Don, Steve and the whole team have been great to work with. I am totally new to kitchen remodeling and they helped with suggestions, pointing out possible concerns. It made the planning process much less worrying. The installation today went well, fitting everything in neatly. I am really looking forward to seeing what this beautiful wood will look like stained.”

“We recently worked with DJ’s Custom Cabinets in Justin, Texas, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. The quality of craftsmanship is truly top-tier—every cabinet, drawer, and shelf reflects careful attention to detail and the use of excellent materials. We came to Don with a very specific vision: flexible shelf spacing, room to accommodate a large television and sound system, and fully custom drawers and cabinet doors. He not only listened but also designed a solution that perfectly fit our needs. The finished cabinetry completely transformed our room from bland to spectacular. Communication with Don was consistently quick, clear, and concise. He personally oversaw every stage of the build and installation, which gave us great confidence in the process. The installation team, like Don himself, was friendly, professional, and clearly skilled at their craft. If you're looking for custom cabinetry that combines precision craftsmanship with exceptional customer service, DJ’s Custom Cabinets deserves to be at the top of your list. Highly recommended!”

“Fantastic! Don’s wood-work is incredible. Even more impressive was his professionalism, responsiveness and attention to detail. When we had even the smallest question or input on our project, Don would immediately reply to address the issue. The entire team does amazing work. Draftsman Clayton is remarkably talented with a keen eye for design. Beau, Nick, Clay and Michael did a great job on installation day. Thank you to the entire DJ’s Custom Cabinet team for all your excellent work and for being so easy to do business with. They will be the first company we call when we remodel our next room with more cabinets and shelving. May 2023 Update - Mr Don stopped by to help me with another cabinet project so here are shots of us and his finished work. Our friends and family are totally impressed with his craftsmanship. Thanks Again to DJ's Custom Cabinets!”

“Don has been working on our custom cabinet needs since 2006. Starting with a beautiful red oak entertainment center. This unit has stayed beautiful over time and even slightly modified by Don to incorporate a new, larger TV. Don is currently working on a proposal to tear out our dated wet bar and additional build a new, larger one to match the look of the Entertainment Center completed in 2006. If you are looking for exceptional, timeless custom cabinetry, call Don at DJ's Custom Cabinets.”

“We highly recommend DJ's Custom Cabinets (Don Dockery, owner) for any custom cabinet work needed. They are absolutely the professionals for custom cabinet work. Last year we thought replacing the kitchen countertops and painting the walls would make our kitchen look more modern. After the work was completed, we realized that we should have replaced the kitchen cabinets as well. We had several contractors look at the cabinets and give us their opinion. We determined that DJ's Custom Cabinets was the team for the job. It was absolutely the right decision! Don has been in this line of business for over 40 years and felt 99% confident that he could put in new kitchen cabinets without removing the new countertops. He built a complex set of braces to hold up the countertops and was successful at removing the lower cabinets without any damage to the new countertops. He then slid the new cabinets under the braced countertops without any damage to the countertops. He replaced all the other cabinets as well. It was amazing to watch him do this. The cabinets are beautiful. The quality and craftsmanship of his work is absolutely the best. The communication with Don and his team was ”

“DJ’s did an amazing job! We had a large custom job for a custom-made barn door and a bookshelf. They measured, fabricated and installed super fast, and it looks absolutely amazing! I would HIGHLY recommend DJ’s for any cabinets or carpentry, they are experts with decades of experience.”

“We had DJ’s Cabinets build custom built-in cabinets for our home, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. The quality of workmanship and attention to detail are outstanding—everything was beautifully crafted. Communication throughout the entire process was excellent, with clear updates and great follow-up. They really took the time to understand our needs and delivered a customized design that fits our space perfectly. The team was professional, reliable, and a pleasure to work with from start to finish. I would highly recommend DJ’s Cabinets to anyone looking for high-quality custom cabinetry.”

“There are not enough good things I can say about DJ’s Custom Cabinets. After just 1 conversation with Don, I immediately knew I wanted to work with him. His customer service is impeccable. He was always quick to respond to my messages and is extremely polite. Don took his time to ensure I was getting exactly what I had envisioned for my home office. Additionally, his pricing is affordable and quality cannot be beat. I could not believe the high quality and detailed workmanship of our custom cabinets. We already have 3 other projects in mind for Don in mind for the future. I cannot recommend him enough!”

“After Don and his crew did a major project in our kitchen last year, there wasn’t any doubt in my mind who we would call for some additional cabinet work! Don is professional, does what he says, and goes above and beyond to make sure his customers are satisfied. His crew reflects this. They are kind, thorough and professional! Most importantly Don is honest, communicates with you, and does excellent work, for an amazing price! Definitely a one in a million business owner, and very rare to find this in today’s world!”
