Forged Timber Company

Forged Timber Company runs custom cabinet work from Mooresville. Ryan leads the shop and takes on builds that mix wood and metal for kitchens and other rooms. The crew handles cabinetry along with butcher block surfaces, shelving units, countertops, and larger pieces like tables or stair treads. They also refinish doors, add custom tops to old tables, and put together conference tables or wall panels when the job calls for it.

Homeowners call when they need a walnut island top that fits exact measurements or custom stair treads for a spiral setup. Ryan has built large cutting boards, bookshelves, and dining tables while keeping the look clean and solid. Some projects start with an old general store table that gets cleaned up and topped with copper. Others involve laser engraving on keepsake boxes or restoring a family piece passed down from a relative. The team works on both small jobs and full room outfitting.

Ryan answers calls and messages the same day and shares updates with layouts or photos as the work moves along. Customers can stop by the shop to look at samples and talk through options. Pricing stays straightforward with no surprises, and the crew stays on schedule even when the job involves on-site installs. They cover the local area and handle pieces that ship out further when needed.

The shop earns consistent praise for solid results and clear back-and-forth on every project. Reviewers note the quick turnaround and the way the finished pieces hold up in daily use. DIRT Score 4.5 from 55 reviews on Finds.

“Ryan and the team at Forged Timber Company completely saved our kitchen renovation. We reached out after struggling to find a butcher block top for our new island. Ryan was incredibly responsive and got back to me the same day. He walked us through every possible detail to help us figure out what was best for our home. They were flexible and patient, offering us options until we found exactly what we wanted. Forged Timber Company does exceptional work with incredible turnaround times. They even built us custom shelving and came to our home to install everything. Amazing craftsmanship and an overall fantastic experience from start to finish. Could not recommend highly enough for any woodworking needs.”

“Ryan is great! He custom built a butcher block for our kitchen island. He was very responsive, timely, professional and even invited us to his shop for on-site visits to make sure we got what we wanted. He showed us samples and provided expert advice on what to do for best results. We’re thrilled and definitely recommend him!”

“Wowza!!! What can I say about this board?? It is magnificent in every way! VERY high quality, heavy, beautiful, big, and perfect!! Ryan was so easy to work with! He is quick to respond and the turnaround time was fast! It is so hard to find something of this quality in this extra large size so when I found him on Etsy, I knew I had to have it! I had it made to sit over my glass cooktop and it is exactly what I wanted. The rubber feet are non-skid and give it enough lift to not sit right on the cooktop; which is exactly want I envisioned. Ryan is clearly an expert at his craft! Definitely 5-stars; 15/10 rating!!! I certainly would not hesitate to order from him again. Looking forward to many, many years with the stunning board featured in my kitchen.”

“We searched high and low for someone to make a large walnut countertop for our kitchen island, and we are so grateful we found Ryan at Forged Timber. From our unannounced drop-in at his shop, where he graciously took the time to show us around, answer a million questions, and educate us about wood species -- to the impeccable finished product that his team installed with care... we were happy with every step of the process. The communication back and forth was excellent, with updates and layouts shared, and the prices were fair and transparent. Don't look any further, Ryan and his team are the ones you want to work with.”

“Working with Ryan was an absolute pleasure. The love and excitement he has for his work shows through in his results. We had several of our old solid wood doors refinished by him (into pristine condition), but my favorite project he did for us was our kitchen worktop/island. We found an old general store table and had Ryan clean it up, repair it, and build a copper worktop for it from scratch. This thing is exquisite and is the focal point of our new kitchen. We get compliments on it constantly. I truly can't speak more highly about him, his customer service, and the work he produces. I will be using him for future projects as well.”

“Worked with Ryan to make some custom stair treads for a spiral staircase. I could not have been happier with their communication, timeliness and all around professionalism. The product was flawless. Highly recommend for any of your custom wood or steel needs!”

“Ryan was an absolute pleasure to deal with and designed and built a gorgeous custom pedestal ash table to coordinate perfectly with our newly renovated dining room. “Ryan and his team are AMAZING. The product they manufacture is clearly made with a passion for what they do. They designed and built a custom conference room table for us as well as an incredible mixed wood wall wrap for our new CPA office. Everyone comments on how gorgeous they both are. Our space would not have been the same without their touch. Super professional, creative and unbelievable quality. Thank you! DeAnna Ford, CPA”

“Ryan has done two projects for us- a large bookshelf and a dining room table. Both projects were done in a timely fashion and with updates along the way. We let Ryan add his personal touch to our final creation and were blown away by what he made! High quality work that is unique and will last us a lifetime. We highly recommend Ryan and Forged Timber if you want a unique piece of craftsmanship.”

“I am super thankful for Ryan and his team at Forged Timber Co. My project was unique and had specifications that I knew were important but didn’t necessarily know how to articulate. From the beginning, Ryan made it easy. He was responsive, he listened to what my desires were, and made suggestion that helped the whole project turn out beautifully. My business is an upstart and he was sensitive to that. Also, everyone I spoke to when I called was super pleasant. What a plus in a world of automation and chat-bots. “I asked my brother, Ryan, to build me a table made out of wood he had left over from other projects. He completely exceeded my expectations when I picked it up. To my surprise, he used white oak and cedar, carved the letter "N" on the top and added the company logo on the metal. The table was perfect! The passion he has for custom woodworking is shown through the quality and craftsmanship of the finished product. He is honest, dependable and thoroughly enjoys making custom pieces for others.”

“Ryan and his team were awesome to work with! We ordered cutting boards as a company Christmas gift and they were a hit! He also threw in some complimentary coasters that were beautiful and we will be placing an order for more shortly!
