M Bar C
Cabinet Maker · San Marcos, TX
About
M Bar C runs a night club in San Marcos at the East San Antonio Street address. The spot books music events and performances with artists on the roster along with nights focused on dancing and drinks. Manager Shawn handles parts of the operation and steps in on seating or guest needs at times. Staff includes people like sound engineer Jarett who works on the system during shows. The business lists itself under the night club category and draws crowds from nearby towns for ticketed evenings.
Reviewers describe arriving for specific headliners only to face schedule shifts that push start times later than listed or add extra openers without clear notice. Groups report long waits standing in the room while the main act gets moved or delayed. Some mention staff applying security checks unevenly or refusing small items like a paid water bottle on the way out. Others note sections promised then pulled at the last minute or events canceled with refund requests left unanswered after multiple contacts. Positive notes include smooth entry on certain nights and extra tables added when crowds grow.
The club posts event times and changes through emails or listings but feedback shows those updates often arrive late or leave gaps. Drink prices stay moderate on some visits while ticket costs cover the full evening. Service runs late into the night with the space set up for standing crowds and a visible dance area. Local customers from San Marcos and nearby cities like San Antonio mention driving in for shows that run on the posted roster.
Feedback mixes a few higher marks for lighting and sound with many lower ones centered on timing problems, staff tone, and crowd handling. Oversold tickets and last minute artist swaps appear repeatedly alongside comments on the overall atmosphere during peak hours. Google shows a 3.2 rating though drawn from zero reviews there.

What Customers Say
“this place had the best music set and staff. Definitely my go to place when I got out!! I love coming here and highly recommended. The manager Shawn and his staff is AWESOME and super attentive. If you’re visiting San Marcos or live here, check this place out 100% you won’t be disappointed.”
“This venue definitely caters to a younger crowd. From the moment our group arrived, the atmosphere felt tense, and it seemed like a confrontation could happen at any time. Our group decided to leave, and just before we reached the exit, two groups became involved in a heated altercation. They were threatening each other, talking about retrieving firearms, and saying they would return. I will say that law enforcement responded very quickly, which was reassuring. However, we came to enjoy an evening of dancing, drinks, and good company—not to be surrounded by individuals creating unnecessary drama or trying to prove themselves through intimidation. Unfortunately, the overall environment made it difficult to relax and enjoy the experience.”
“We drove from San Antonio specifically to see Roz, who was the only artist on the roster and listed to start at 1130 PM. Doors were moved up from 10 PM to 9 PM via email, leading us to believe the headliner might start earlier. Instead, a last-minute artist was added, which was fine, but they played from about 945 PM to 1 AM. The venue moved Roz to play 1 AM–2 AM without any announcement or updates. We ended up leaving at 1215 AM to make the drive home, missing the entire reason we came. We wanted to catch a bit of their set before taking off. Extremely disrespectful of fans' time and travel. Won’t be returning.”
“I’m here for a show. There’s a pretty messed up standing situation right now and the staff gave no grace regardless of how overly packed it is. There’s a solution for sure. It’s not even the height of the night yet /: the system and/ or staff need to be fixed. Edit: On my way out they wouldn’t let me take the bottle of water I paid for with me. What the actual hell. I can confidently say that I have never had a worse experience at a venue. My husband told me that they have a reputation for overselling tickets, and many reviews I’ve read say the same. Money is money to these types of business owners. This was first time here and it will be my last.”
“Went here on Rap night around 11pm tried to get a section was told they were sold out but only 1 section was taken we stayed til about 1am was told if they were still open at 1:30 we could have it??? Who wants to pay 200+ for 30 minute section place is Trash now not what used to be all the under age drinking in here is wild”
“Been to this venue a few times before. This past weekend was my first time at the venue for a ticketed event. The checkin was smooth. Headliner for the night was Shaq and it was amazing! Lights, confetti, CO2, all of it was well planned out and had the entire crowd loving the show. One thing I did appreciate was that water bottles weren’t jacked up in price. Been to plenty of places were they try to charge $5+ for a bottle. Small things like that make a big difference and thanks to the Marc for keeping them reasonably priced. Definitely will come to more shows!”
“I guess I should read the fine print.(which there was none). Our show supposedly started at 9pm but really it was the doors that opened at 9pm. Our act did not get on stage until 12:15am. Stood there for over 3 hours watching a DJ put his gear on auto-pilot and hit the (bra bra braaap) button every 10 seconds. The show was great but y'all need to be more clear in the details on when the show actually starts. I basically wasted our whole night waiting for someone to get on stage. Pathetic communication. Likely a way to get people in the door to buy more drinks. I will say, at least the AC worked.”
“The staff here is beyond rude. It’s not cute or funny. You guys can be nice and respectful.”
“Came for Bingo Loco and it was a nuthouse. Folks were hoarding chairs so GM Shawn set up an extra table for my group - above and beyond hospitality. Friendly fast service, too.”
“Please guys for the love of all things do not go here, my friends and i were physically assaulted by a bouncer and are considering pressing charges due to the absolutely unacceptable incident. I’ve spent hundreds - thousands of dollars here and continue to be let down time and time again. not only is the service poor, they continue to scam on ticketing, they will sell out an event for an artist then change the plans day of and not give refunds!!!! please keep these things in mind as i only want to help people from wasting time and money rather than indulging in watered down drinks, no dance space, and dirty/ aggressive atmosphere!! much love 👍”
“Hey do you want to spend 7 Hours standing in a Vape Cloud in a stagnant hot room while alcohol is spilled all over you while you wait for your favorite singer to come on? Even the singer was upset he had to perform here….. It’s been 24 hours and I still taste the vape in my mouth from the awfulness. Multiple girls in the packed crowd suffered from heat stroke. It’s just terrible. I wish I could give it 0 Stars.”
“My boyfriend was profiled here last weekend at a show. He was accused of sexually harassing a bartender when he was beside me almost the whole night. Mind you, he was only helped by male bartenders and the bar is not accessible to get behind. We tried to ask why he was getting kicked out and they embarrassed and made a scene. It wasn’t until I (a white woman) was finally listened to and they told me the reason. This place is great for a 360 show but we are so upset with the racism and profiling at this venue. I don’t care who’s playing, I’ll never be back and I’ll make sure to spread the word on how your staff treats paying guests.”
“Their employees illegally block parking spots in front of their venue. Incident happened 12/12 at roughly 9:45pm. Placed cones when cones were removed they physically stood in the spaces. Please reach out to me via my email and I will change my review. Not the owners fault, I know how hard it is to manage a buncha kids. Not sure how to reach management other then this.”
“Was there for a show, but every single ticket we got (cause I went in a group of five) gave a different start time, so we ended up paying $60 for about 30 minutes of music. And even worse they profiled one of the people I was with. The rest of us were visibly white passing (more or less) but the ONE person in our group who was clearly POC was told that they needed to empty their pockets and be scanned with the security wand. Keep in mind, I had walked into the venue before them without being asked to do the same, but they never called me back and asked me to do the same (keep in mind I'm white and this person is not) so not only was it not worth the money, they were also openly profiling people. Definitely not worth it. 0/10 I DO NOT recommend. Edited for grammatical errors and clarity.”
“First time here I came to see Tchami and I had so much fun! The crowd was pretty good, it wasn’t overly packed and drinks were decently priced. Would definitely come back there to see another show.”
“Got tickets to see SLANDER and showed up the night of the event and it had been cancelled due to the headliners manager having some sort of emergency- we were bummed but totally understood. The guy outside said he was the owner or manager or something and that he'd refund us, just to email him. Welp, called and sent 3 emails over the span of 3 or 4 weeks and never got our money back. Poor business management.”
“Texas State University 🎟️ always turns up. Big DROPS and bangers for the San Marcos House/EDM scene. Large dance floor visible from the booth. Lighting and sound are equivalent to other venues in Chicago and Los Angeles. Lit crowd from the area including Austin and San Antonio.”
“I used to love coming to the Marc for Latin night. They switched DJ’s (DJ EYG) and he barely plays Spanish music and he loves to talk over the music. Also, adding seats was a mistake. They want it to look full inside but there’s barely any place to dance which is the whole point.”
“This venue is awesome! Played a show there and everyone who works there is great. Jarett the sound engineer was very helpful and spent lots of time making us sound as good as possible. I am glad to see such a great sound system and venue availabe in San Marcos.”
“Myself and some friends flew out from colorado and got to attend an event last night at the marc, the artist were amazing and the crowd really made the venue great. on the other had the staff was nice but by they did end up charging us for waters when at the beginning they we’re seemingly free. the bounce did give us some grief for our out of state ids. but if you attend a show here the crowd is definitely the deciding factor on if you want to go back.”
