About

Mark Mattson's Woodworking runs carpentry jobs from Fort Worth, Texas, with Mark Mattson handling the work. The business builds custom furniture, restores pieces, constructs built-in bookcases and fireplace surrounds, and takes on minor handyman tasks such as workstation builds and speed rails. It also produces rustic decor items and modifies existing cabinetry or bookcases to fit new needs like larger televisions. Service reaches across the Dallas-Fort Worth area from the Arlington shop at 1844 W Division St Ste 203.

Customers have brought in requests for a built-in bookcase that matched the space exactly, a cash drawer box with matching wood tone and a shop logo, a custom speed rail for an ice bin, and built-ins on both sides of a fireplace. Other jobs included a board and batten wall where the crew spotted and fixed errors from an online plan, a frame for a Murphy bed that avoided cutting baseboards, and cabinet changes that kept the original look intact. One crew also glued broken wooden souvenirs without being asked during a wall project.

Mark keeps in touch throughout each job and adjusts schedules when needed, including a Sunday trip to Dallas for a bed frame install. He trims the final bill if a trip to the store takes less time than expected. Reviewers note that prices stay reasonable and that the work stays clean and direct. The operation covers the Dallas-Fort Worth area and handles both large custom builds and smaller fixes when the schedule allows.

Google lists a 4.3 rating though with no reviews tallied there. The accounts that exist repeatedly mention solid craftsmanship, close attention to detail, and that Mark stays easy to work with on custom pieces. Two people said they sent photos for small repairs like chair fixes or furniture work and never heard back.

What Customers Say

“I recently had a built-in bookcase crafted by Mark Mattson’s Woodworking, and I couldn't be happier with the results! From start to finish, Mark demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and thorough communication. The bookcase fit perfectly in my space and the final product looked even better than I had envisioned. If you’re looking for custom woodworking, I highly recommend Mark Mattson’s Woodworking. You won’t be disappointed!”

Chris Wood

“I had a family member recommend Mark to help create a box for our cash drawer at our coffee shop. The craftsmanship is outstanding; besides being functional, the box looks great, and the wood matches the tone of the shop, and the logo on the back is absolutely perfect. We later asked if he could build a custom speed rail for our ice bin, and as expected, it looks and works wonderfully. I would absolutely recommend Mark.”

Corey Bloodworth

“AMAZING! We loved working with Mark for a custom built-in on both sides of our fireplace. He’s got great attention to detail and has great insight and advice on projects. Thank you Mark!”

Catie Pulsifer

“They did such a great job with the board and batten statement wall. My design was from an online interior decorating platform. Mark planned out the design and even noticed some mistakes that the interior decorator had made. He was able to correct them for a great finished product. I absolutely love it. They immediately came in, went to work, and didn’t waste time. Super great guys and I highly recommend them. Side note: They even noticed that I had broken my wooden souvenirs from Ecuador. I didn’t even point it out. They were so kind and glued them back together for me. Highly recommend them!!!”

“Mark was great, very easy to work with and very skilled. I had Mark help my girlfriend and me attach a Murphy bed to a wall. This required building a "frame" that the bed would attach to so that we did not have to remove any part of the base boards. Mark was flexible on scheduling and came to Dallas on a Sunday to help out. The job took a few hours which required a trip to Home Depot but Mark was very reasonable in adjusting the total price to reflect time not actually used to construct the frame. We were very happy with the end result which is very secure. I will either post pictures of the frame/final product or send them to Mark for y'all to see but very happy with Mark's handiwork.”

John Emslie

“Mark modified our built-in cabinets/book cases to allow for a larger TV. We were concerned that we would be able to get this done and have it look good but Mark was able to make the changes in a way that maintained the quality look of the cabinets. We are very appreciative of his help to make this change. He was great to work with and the cost was very reasonable. We definitely call Mark if we need any woodworking done in the future.”

“Mark is a master of his trade. He is creative, honest, hard working and has a fantastic eye for detail. He was able to take my vision and make it into a reality. He also was up to the challenge of working with materials he was unfamiliar with and produced a wonderful product. I would gladly use Mark for any future projects I have and couldn't recommend him enough.”

Andrew Weakley

“I called Mark Mattson in the last week of Feb needing a furniture repair that was very important for me and he asked me to text him pics of the piece. After so texting him and verfying they were received, leaving him a VM, texting again, leaving another voice message, and then over the course of a full wek finally texting asking him to simply do me the courtesy of letting me know if he didn't want to do the job and still hearing nothing, I finally found another repairman that was responsive, punctial and interested in a fairly small job. Too bad, Mark, I hate leaving negative reviews but theres no excuse for ignoring a new customer that way. My time is as valuable as yours is, and I have time to leave reviews on Google.”

Andrew Williams

“Asked if he could repair a couple of dining room chairs. I haven't received any responses back regarding the photos I sent. If you don't have the time to repair a couple of chairs or the know-how, you can at least be kind and let someone know. I guess some people think that their time is more valuable than others. Don't waste your time and hard-earned money on someone that doesn't care about you or your situation.”

Lisa McClure

“Incredible quality and craftsmanship. Very easy to work with. Thank you so much!”

Yujia Ding

“Wonderful work! Matched the existing handrail and was clean and quick in his approach!!! Highly recommend”
