What Customers Say
“The worst place to buy materials. I placed an order worth over $5,000 that included several cedar posts, and when it came time to install them, they were all cracked; the cedar was in terrible condition and stained black—like grease—and the stains wouldn't come off. The materials are very expensive, and when they deliver, they bring you the worst quality. I don’t recommend using them.😡”
“I recently had a frustrating experience with 84 Lumber while ordering Ijoints. From the start, they mixed up my order and delivered the wrong materials. It's baffling that they didn't take the time to check the materials before shipping them out, let alone verify the delivery against the order list. How can a company overlook such basic quality control? Upon reviewing the materials, I noticed that some of the measurements were incorrect. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, I was told that they outsource the manufacturing of these materials. This felt like a cop-out, as he indirectly shifted the blame onto the third-party company they hire. If I’m paying for Ijoints and sending them a detailed plan, I expect them to take responsibility for ensuring that the order is fulfilled correctly. To make matters worse, we needed the correct materials to continue our job and even offered to pick up our order ourselves. However, we were told that the materials had been mixed up and delivered to another job site. When we suggested going to retrieve them ourselves, the response was a firm no. The manager, Ryan, even implied that we might go steal something from there, which was i”
“Worst lumber yard ever. DONT BUY ANY FROM THEM. Their prices are ridiculous and the service its disappointing. Front desk people they don’t care about selling stuff you can’t return. You find out when you actually need to return stuff and they tell you you can’t. DEFINITELY NEVER AGAIN. A”
“Both Joshes at the front desk were really helpful and friendly. Great customer service and a great experience overall!”

“i would like to thank the salesperson Chris at 84 Lumber for her excellent service and warm welcome. She was very professional, helpful in meeting my needs, and provided outstanding service with a smile and respect. A great experience, and I highly recommend dealing with her. Thank you, Chris”
“Tommy Lam went out of his way to help me with my plywood purchase today. His willingness to make a difference is why I’ll continue to bring any business to 84 Lumber! Thank you Tommy!”
“Long post but worth reading before doing business with them. I normally always use 84 Lumber but lately the quality has gone downhill and the customer service is terrible. I went in to buy lumber and supplies for my job and they proceeded to bring me all of the old lumber they had in the yard. After I spoke with the associate about the quality of the lumber they wanted to sell me he explained to me that it was all they had for me. Even after pointing out they had new pallets of lumber which clearly didn't matter. He basically went on to say that's what he could sell me because he needed to get rid of it and there was nothing he could do. We went back and forth about how I've purchased great quality materials in the past and I wasn't going to buy the old lumber he insisted I purchase. I asked to speak to the manager and unfortunately he said he was the manager on duty. After several attempts to get my point across, I basically told him I was no longer purchasing anything and would like a refund. Unfortunately 84 lumber just lost my business and I'm glad I at least got my refund without any fuss. It's sad to see this happen and from the reviews I see I'm not the only one it's happene”
“Updated review (July 2024): Well, I really should have taken my own advice and stayed away. Recently got a quote for an item that was cheapest here...I should've known. After paying and showing up, they had a completely wrong product. Not only did they substitute my item for a different (inferior) product but it was several feet shorter! They refunded my money, told me they would order the correct item but I never heard back from them. So I ordered through Associated Truss in Sunnyvale. I'd say "you get what you pay for" but with 84Lumber you don't even get that! You get whatever they have laying around and think is a comparable product. Previous review (2 years ago): I wouldn't do business here again. The staff is unpleasant and acts like business is inconvenient to them. More importantly though they promised certain items could be ordered, took my money, and then the day before delivery called to say they couldn't get what I ordered. Then when I did get my lumber delivered they showed up unannounced, ran over my silt fencing and dropped my lumber in a mud pit. When I called to complain I was told they have too many deliveries to call and give a heads up. Come on now...if other l”
“The most laziest individuals I have encountered are the employees at the company in question. Specifically, Ryan, the individual in the front row, informed me that they have a policy to close at 4:30 PM - when the store closes at 5 and stop loading materials. It is unfortunate that such individuals are employed by American companies. I strongly recommend that Ryan be terminated from their position.”
“If I could give these folks a negative rating I would. I have been a contractor in this town for over 30 years. I have never had any trouble getting a price quote until the recent Covid lunacy and the subsequent shortages. There is never an excuse for poor customer service. I contacted 2 separate salesmen from 84 lumber, over a 4 week period, for a simple lumber quote. They both put me off for 2 weeks. They said it would take 1 week ( if they didn't have to read plans) as if anyone at this company could actually read a set of plans. I am at the point of my customer dropping me because I cannot get them a price. This is a simple request for lumber, not complicated. I actually went over to the Miller rd location and waited in the lobby for a salesman for about 20 minutes. I was passed over by a person who walked in after me. I explained my situation to the clerk at the counter and he just stared at me? Even when I walked out, no one asked to help. I have done business with these people in the past and never had a problem, never again. Steer clear of this company they do not care about losing customers at all. I made a trip to a REAL LUMBER YARD called CRADDOCK Lumber. I walked in and”
“lost all respect for lumber yards after today. Their service was terrible. I had to call their distributor for them to confirm they had stock. I don't understand the point of this middleman it was like talking to Cheech and Chong. Overpriced material and took over two hr to discover that their product is 3 to 5 dollars more expensive per board than the big box store. They won't price match. Save yourself time and money and just go to home depot. you can order online just check before leaving. You're welcome :)”
“Very rude. I called to get pricing on Zip panels (½" thick). Was told they don't make them, they only come in 7/16". I assured him they do make them as well as 7/16" & 5/8". They hung up on me. If you don't carry a product, just say so. Won't be interest in getting pricing there on rest of the house we're building either. :(”
“They are all about safety. Wouldn't let anyone into the building.had to call and talk to the clerk to ask about my lumber from outside the door....but inside no one had on masks ...go figure...however they were nice people and knowledgeable even if they didn't have any thing I wanted. Or anything thing in stock...nice people wasted trip..”
“I work with Thomas on a regular basis, he's a champ, gets us our materials promptly and goes the extra mile. Some materials were missed on one delivery and he personally took them to the site on his way home from work, when he could have just scheduled it for his delivery driver the next day. Love working with him.”
“I will start by saying I have never gone to the trouble of posting a negative review of a business. I usually just don't do business with them anymore. This was a terrible experience. Guy behind the counter seemed to be intentionally making (what should have been) a basic conversation difficult. Tried to get some help ordering a support beam and, after talking in circles for ten minutes, I gave up. There was another associate there who seemed to want to help, or at least correct/clarify the first guy's misstatements. It seemed he didn't want to be rude and interrupt the first guy. After an uncomfortable few minutes he retreated to an office. I have always had much better service from building supply houses and was very disappointed by this store. I wonder how many other customers come here and are run off by this "salesman"?”
“I found 84 lumber online for some specific trim and was surprised they carried it. Before I drove 45 mins to the Garland location I called ahead and confirmed they had in stock. I arrived and once again after hearing the rep call the 1/2" material 1x6, I questioned it...he was certain it was in fact the 1/2" material I needed and had called about. Went back to load it up and of course this was true 1x6 (3/4" thickness) material. How do you work in a lumber yard and can't tell the difference from 1/2" mdf from 1x6???”
“Talked to Ramiro 5 weeks ago I told him I wanted a lumber package estimate for my house and emailed plans. Called today said they are only doing builders yet I wasn’t told that the day I called to submit my plans and nobody reached out to me for 5 weeks wasted.”
“Fast unload time but not much room up front to untarp and un strap”
“Poor quality lumber, I would look elsewhere. You’ll fine better quality at big box stores for the same or better pricing.”
