“When we bought our current home the bathroom was a complete gut-job. Dave and his team came in and designed exactly what we wanted. It really surpassed what we expected in the quality of the glass and tile work. It is just unbelievable. We love our bathroom and have recommended DMJ over and over again. The project started and ended on time. The people working in your home get there when they are supposed to be there. It was a good experience and we will use them again.”

“BUYER BEWARE! This is my personal experience with DMJ and I’ll stick to the facts. This was a 6-figure job that we did by adding 1,000 sf. The number of mistakes were overwhelming and there is even an apology from the ex-owner Monty Brock due to the plethora of mistakes caused by them, their PM’s and subcontractors. However, that apology was way too late as our numerous complaints, concerns and questions went on deaf ears and unanswered for months. This was supposed to be a 6 month project, but lasted 14 months. June of 2023 to August 2024. They use a website and app called Buildertrend which documents the entire project and has scheduling and timelines, but it’s all innacurate. They don't follow their own schedules. In this case, their own app backfired as all the bad has been documented and in writing. They were too busy for us, overbooked themselves with so many jobs they could not pay attention to detail on ours. From accounting discrepancies to not following through with their scheduling and own timeline. We had problems from the beginning. Problems with design, permitting, inspections, ordering appliances and materials were often late. They installed the new half of our hardwood floor only to be ripped out because they used the wrong species of wood which did not match our existing wood. This alone caused almost a month delay. PM Travis was a no show for the entire month of November 2023 and lied multiple times to everyone until he got caught and fired. Problems with measurements with our refrigerator trim kit and having to redo the entire kitchen wall. My painter had to come back and paint 3 times due to havng to change and redo drywall and sheetrock. Our ceiling drywall had to be replaced three times. Our tiles and schuler were damaged and had to be replaced 3 times. Carpet wasnt installed properly in the boys room. The shower desing for my boys room is not correct and they will not fix it because they said they followed protocol. Subcontractors drinking on the job. Subcontractors and service providers would not show up due to no-payment. They used different colof caulking for our bar tile floor. HUGE problem with electrical and I had to hire my own electrician. Major problem with our ceiling that fell apart 3 times, I had to hire Alvarado Construction to fix the job. Even though they are not responsible for damages to your yard, (per the contract) they destroyed our front and back yard with their machines and just lack of supervision, leaving trash and heavy items on our lawn for months even after asking them to please clean up the job site. I found multiple debris in our yard and pool like nails, screws, rebar, metal shards, dangerous for my kids to play outside. The list goes on and on and since I have limited room to complain and write a bad review, anyone can email me directly about the entire list of mistakes they made on my project. If you hire them, stay on top of EVERYTHING from accounting to scheduling to ordering appliances. My biggest regret was hiring them. I would hate for another family to go through what we went through especially with two young boys 3 & 7. The owenrs were simply disrespectful, rude, unethical, unresponsive and simply didn't care. They would not respond for weeks at a time. They did not share our vision for our home project. We requested many in person meetings but they told us they dont do site visits????!!!! I was shocked. David finally showed up relunctantly to look for himself what we had been saying the entire time. The job site was left in disarray and unsupervised multiple times by their PM and DMJ. They say they take their reviews and complaints very seriously, but it all went on deaf ears. Bad business all around. They have an answer for every bad review to make themselves feel and look better, but its all bogus. I still have three months of warranty left and have issues with some items, but I dont even want them back in my home. I'm having to hire someone else to fix their mistakes. Overal bad experience.”

“We recently completed a kitchen renovation project and a room addition project with DMJ. In the initial phases, we had our project(s) quoted by six different contractors. DMJ was not the highest, but they were not the lowest. I’d say they were the most consistent and honest with their pricing. Some would tell you, “Sure, we can do it for that.” and then issue a hundred change orders. Scott was very deliberate and concise with the budget. We knew exactly what we were walking in to. Our project took a little over five months to substantial completion, with another month or so of odds and ends (punch list items). We were without a functioning kitchen for about four months with demo starting in mid-January and our refrigerator delivered in April. We were thrilled with the result and couldn't be more pleased with how they handled and managed the process. Given the circumstances of completing a home renovation project during COVID, the guys were incredible. We certainly shared our ups and downs (sub-contractor delays, permitting delays, shipping delays) but the crew handled with absolute grace. They value quality above all else, so it is reflected in the cost of the project. But they were always willing to work with us on options if ever a change order was required. I can only the imagine the amount of coordination it takes to source a sub and then get them to show up on time but that would honestly be my only major con the project. We lived in our home while the reno was taking place, so it was a pain when we prepared to have the crew in the house only to have them never show. These situations were always handled accordingly but we always hated being "those homeowners" who were nagging on this point. Dave and Jason were always very reassuring and never, ever seemed flustered. Well maybe only once, when dealing with Alamo Heights permitting but we all were! And we were very appreciative that we had Dave going to bat for us. The initial use of BuilderTrend was a little clunky but we all got the hang of it as the project went on. It would have been exceptionally helpful to have Dave’s check point on a more regular cadence. There were a few weeks where he’d send a Monday email through BuilderTrend with the breakdown of expectation for the week. That was huge for us and helped alleviate concerns over timing and potential delays. It also helped us prepare. Toward the middle of the project, when we hit our plateau, we felt we needed to reach out to the crew to see what was going on when there hadn’t been people at the house working. We understand now to expect the lull, but we would have felt more informed if we knew what to expect. Maybe just a quick message from Dave saying, “nothing on the docket for this week, still waiting on xyz, but no delays on critical path.” Or something of the sort. All in all, we are ecstatic with the result and are so happy we found DMJ. They are all knowledgeable and caring guys, and you will truly be in the best of hands. The kind of folks that we’ll continue to send our Christmas card! I think it's clear we were happy because we just got them to quote us on our next project!”

“The entire remodel was the best I would ever want. The crew was very informed and very well versed on the project. I was given every detail on the various means to complete the kitchen makeover. The project was completed on time and was supervised all the way thru. I was kept informed on the progress of the construction of the materials needed. The crew that was brought in was the best and got the job done. I especially appreciated the ideas and suggestions that Billy and Cody had that I probably would not have thought of.”

“I am loving my new kitchen by DMJ. The timeline was a little longer than I’d hoped and it caused some frustration with operating a business out of my home at the same time.
