What Customers Say

“Always greeted when we enter. Old town local restaurant feel. I like the changes they made with the outdoor seating. Service is consistently kind, food come fast and hot. This visit was for funnel cake. Tasty as usual. I enjoy when the live musicians are there. My absolute favorite is being able to watch of catch a glimpse of a movie from when I was a child playing on the television. Oh, and the superhero restroom doors. An experience to have when in the Spring area.”

“Continuing education is the biggest rip off!! I enrolled in the continuing education program for medical coding and billing. After months of hard work, I was weeks ahead of most of my class. Suddenly, our professor lost her sight. The new person was not a professor. She dropped most homework requirements for everyone. I had already done way more than anyone in the class. I asked repeatedly for my certificate of completion for the first course we completed. It was on my professors desk the night she quit and I was at home with the option to do remote since I lived 50 miles away in Willis. Nobody would help me. Not one person I called would give me my certificate saying I passed the first part of the course. Everyone else got their's because they lived close to the Cypress campus. I went to the Montgomery campus to ask for help. I got zero help. I quit before they took another $1200 from me. I'm happy to say that, from what I heard, most of the class also dropped out right after i did because they knew how smart I was and they respected me. Plus, the new lady kept saying bad things about our previous professor!!! Everyone was mad at her lack of empathy. After a few weeks, only tw”

“I am extremely pleased with the facilities (Montgomery and North Harris) that I have studied at. I have had no complaints about the teaching staff or the experiences I have had there. On top of creating an environment that fosters creativity and personal growth, they are always very efficient at their jobs. This brings me to the only problem I have had with this school, I can not get anyone to return my call or an email. I have been to the campus twice to speak with counselors and I have been accepted to the technical school, but I need help with my financial aid. I have been calling, leaving messages, emailing and pleading with someone to get back to me for two weeks. Not a single response. The only message I received back was automated. I understand they are very busy, but I have a full time job and two children and I cant always make it to campus to speak with a counselor face to face. I wish they would be more committed to at least acknowledging that I have gotten in contact with them.”

“Use Rate my professor for your teachers and don't wait last minute to sign up for classes or get your financial aid in order. Financial aid moves very slow. The day before payment for classes were due they let me know I had won a scholarship after I had already paid for them. To get in contact with them about the refund - took over a week because they moved so slowly. On top of that, I needed to purchase tons of art supplies that their book store didn't offer and because they had waited so long, I wasn't able to file for a book advance form so I could use it on the 400$ of art supplies that I ended up needing. I only took 2 classes that semester and ended up using the rest of my scholarship on my friends for supplies that they needed for school because I couldn't use the rest of it. (That was my last semester - graduated Dec 2017 - ceremony won't be until May 2018) Not every advisor/counselor is on the same page about when graduation is at all. I know now when it is after waiting for them to post it on the website but they did a lot of dragging their feet and I kept being told different things. Because of their inability to get things together, I ended up at Lone Star an extra sem”

“It's a good school at North Harris. Their website, library computers and print jobs are extremely frustrating. I had to print took my money and nothing came out. They say the print system is a third party well my money isn't third party. They could at least have the decency to put a sign up that says it's out of order. The computers run super slow in the library. I've attended two other community colleges and graduated from one. This one is the most irritating by far in those three areas. Just like they love their money. We love to have issues without the website and printing. Other than that good school.”

“This campus has truly exceeded all my expectations of what a college experience should be like. I haven't meet a staff member that wasn't willing and eager to be of service to the students. I have received numerous scholarships, went to enchanted evenings and luncheons as a student speaker for Lone Star College. As long as you do your best, your hard work does NOT go unnoticed. Out of all my different college experiences LSC-Montgomery soars above the rest. This college does not aim for failure, but guide student's in paths for upward social mobility and success in life.”

“I am a student currently enrolled in the Montgomery campus however I have not been able to sign up for my classes due to the discriminatory financial aid department. They are very rude and try to talk over you. They will come up with excuse after excuse on why your file is incomplete and they can’t finish the process even when I had provided Everything they asked for. They kept asking me to provide transcripts for schools I have never attended which is fraud. You have to jump through hoop after hoop and it’s just never enough. I am trying to do the ADN Nursing program and apparently they have some type of vendetta against the lower income students. I will be filing a complaint with the Office of Civil rights against the Montgomery campus.”

“Simply too many students attending. D2L ( student's personal online account) always crashes and doesn't work. Class registration is crazy as hell. Classes varie depending on professors. Even they are the same subjects, while a professor requires to write 3 papers, another professor doesn't require a paper at all. That's why many students try to grab "easy " professors' classes on the registration day. (Online registration never works because too many students jump in just like The Hunger Games as soon as online registration starts.) College staffs are lazy, rude and not willing to help students. Since they don't have enough advisers, I always have to wait at least 2~3 hours to talk to them whether I have an appointment or not. 70% of their professors teach as a part time job ( one of my professors told us) , they don't care about students much. ( there are a few good ones..) When we had an issue about the class, I sent an e-mail to the professor and dean office, but they just sent me a " prewritten template customer service e-mail." Apparently they don't care about education quality. They just care about sucking money out of people.”

“I have attended four institutions of higher learning. This one is the worst. Unfortunately you cannot rate them anything less than one star, otherwise I would have rated them a negative five. Their advisors and staff are terrible. Some of their professors are good. Make sure you visit Rate My Professor before registering for a class. The campus is beautiful, clean and safe. There is no place to do your homework.”

“I finished my 2-year degree here and have nothing but good things to say. The professors are all great, the course i took (accounting) was perfectly suited to my later bachelors and (in progress) masters, the campus itself is very nice and generally a welcoming place to be. I would definitely recommend it to any students.”

“Zero stars isnt an option so I give them Lone Star. The teachers are great. Very helpful and want you to successed. The staff is horrible. I tried to get job assistance and they sent me to a knock off Indeed with 10 listings. I applied to graduate following there P&P and catalog and now they are fighting with me saying they changed a class from 4 to 3 credits and it needs to be reviewed...they will get back to me in a couple of weeks...these are their advisors who are suppose to care about your academics. If you have any other option take it. Flesh eating bacteria is less painful then having to get a response from them. 10 minutes of reading P&P and you already know more than the " academic advisors". I think moving out of their district, establishing residency and going to another school would be less work than getting an email reply from anyone at this school.”

“Do not attend at this school, the staff only cares about the cash not people education. I attended this school back in fall 2012 bad mistake, staff does not want to help advisors give you a negative attitude when you do is ask questions and information about your major. This school has false program courser. I wanted to take the business management Associates degree to educate my self and be successful in my retail career. Later they tell me that I have classes at different locations that they do not offer the course they counselor told me what I had to take. It said clear Montgomery location on the program. This school ruin my whole plan I was just a young 19 year old girl that just wanted to get an education . Thanks to them now at 23 I had to star all from the beginning . I work so hard to save up my money and pay for my education out of pocket I never sign up financial aid or school load. If you are a young high school kid thinking to sign up for classes at Loanstar don't do it it is just going to waste your time money.”

“This is hands down one of THE best colleges I have attended! I recently came from a private HBU and I can say that my experience with Lonestar-CyFair has been perfect. I have been attending this school for a year and a couple of months and they are extremely organized, all of the professors are amazing and you can tell they really enjoy their job. While attending Lonestar-CyFair I have gotten my GPA up to a 3.7 and I have also been accepted into Lonestar Honors College and I am so excited! If you're looking to further your education or if you are even considering going back to school this is the perfect place to start 🤗”

“These reviews are simply not fair, go to the Cy-Fair location for your two year college needs! It is super clean and the atmosphere is great. There is a beautiful lake and green outdoor environment that you don't even see in large universities. Also if you don't get a scholarship to a 4 year school, why waste money on the same basic classes? Lonestar is affordable, and you get more than you pay for. The Cy-Fair location is the best one by far, it is clean, beautiful, and packed with a range of different people. Once I transferred I realized that some of the classes may have been blow-offs at Lonestar, but I think this is the perfect transition from high school than going straight to a 4 year university.”

“I was going to post this on Lone Stars facebook page but began to fear them dropping me again for doing so, so I'm posting this here: Thanks for dropping me from all of my classes this morning / last night. I didn't receive a single phone call or email from you, if it wasn't for my co-worker having the same thing happen to him I would have never known and wouldn't be able to take classes this semester. This is the THIRD time this has happened, each time i've called financial aid and have been hung up on every time. ◄PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS:► Go to a real college, this place could care less about you as a person, much less student. The professors are nice enough but the administration could not do a worse job if they tried. Seriously. Last semester I was told I could not have an extra (single) day to pay for the entirety my classes. I escalated all the way up to the director of financial aid, essentially begging for a DND. (Do not drop: it just means that the system will not immediately drop you when the payment is due and gives you a 5 day extension period to pay for your tuition) She told me better luck next semester. I was so mad I ended up contacting my state representative about”

“The admissions/registration/advisors/ etc. are incompetent, unprofessional, unknowledgeable, and lazy. The advisor I met at the cyfair location didn't know if I had to retest for TSI or read my transcript which lead her to send me to the registration counter. Each telephone operators I spoke to gave me different reasons why there was a hold on my records. The enrollment specialist took three months and about four emails to remove the hold on my record. Now, they say the computer does not have my test scores (even though they have received and evaluated my transcript since February) which does not allow me to complete registration myself. An advisor has to do it for me instead of them fixing the issue. I lost the opportunity to register for mini term. Now, all of the sudden there are no hold on my account and I am able to register (three months later). If you plan to transfer to LSC beware, they have no experience in reading a transcript. I had to explain certain things from my transcript to them and yet I am no advisor or expert. I do not recommend going here!”

“Probably one of the worst experiences I've had signing up for classes. The website is awful, its incredibly difficult to see what you need to do and when there are holds they just say "there is a hold" without any further information. You then have to call them to figure out what is going on and the people who try to help love playing the "let me transfer you" game. I called one person and ended up getting transferred 4 times (with a long wait in between each one) but then i got transferred to the second or first person i talked to. I attend Texas A&M during the normal year so I had to upload a transcript to prove that, which is fine. BUT when A&M sent the transcript and Lonestar received it, for some asinine reason lonestar just didn't process it. So I still had a hold even though Lonestar knew they had a transcript and it took yet another annoying call to start the process to fix it. They also charge you 10 dollars to upload a medical form which is ridiculous. Horrible experience, next year I'll be taking classes at University of Houston.”

“It's this have a 0 I do a 0 , this is the worse School ever. The financial aid it's so poor. They always tell you , you need to wait 10 business days and I have 2 month continually waiting for answer ..and when you try to talk with the supervisor they don't know what to answer ..they don't care about students to help them .everything is we are waiting for a email to have the answer and I go there and always the same thing and the staff always hang up in your face. A bring everything all my papers everything they need more then 2 months and financial aid said the same waiting 10 business day. And the classes star in October ..so if you want better professional to help you to archive your goals go to another school don't waist your time in here . Financial HORRIBLE”

“I have attended two different campuses, University Park and North Harris Health Science Center. I have liked all of the professors so far! The curriculum is very challenging, and I feel I am receiving an exceptional education. My favorite professors are Dr. Cherry Sawer, Psychology professor at UP, and Dr. Daniel Le Clair, an exceptional history professor! And Dr. Francisco Alarcon-Chaldez. His Microbiology class prepared me for the classes I am taking currently. I also have to give a hearty round of applause, and recommend Dr. Connie Noeller professor of Pharmacology at North Harris! Thank you Lone Star!”

Priscilla Moler

“Every email or phone call I make I'm always getting referred to different people! It's like nobody knows anything, can't help you with your questions. I'm trying to get into a program there and I feel discouraged to even ask the simplest of questions. Even the program directors don't know the answers to my admissions questions, it's like I keep going in circles. I've now decided to pursue a different college, one that's an hour and half away but it's well worth it than dealing with the UNHELPFUL rude staff at Lonestar College system.”
