About

Texas Solar Power Company handles electrical work out of Austin, Texas, with a strong focus on solar power systems. They've been at this for over twenty years and wrapped up more than a thousand projects across different scales. The crew includes NABCEP certified electricians who take on general construction, solar equipment sales and installs, plus energy efficiency upgrades for homes and businesses. They often team up with engineers when specs call for it and can run the whole job as general contractors to keep things under one roof.

On the job they put in solar panels for residential customers, handle repairs and service questions on existing setups, and give estimates for fixes or add-ons like foam insulation and generator hookups to the breaker box. Sales guy Jay laid out detailed proposals with clear options such as microinverters versus one central inverter for a twenty-eight panel install. Derek and Colby took calls to walk through system issues using their years of hands-on knowledge at no charge, while the team also manages battery backups, storage systems, and deep retrofits to cut power use in Austin homes that face heavy summer loads.

Reviews show mixed results on how they handle communication and follow through. Some homeowners liked the detailed options from sales and quick phone help from techs like Derek and Colby along with fixes that matched expectations after initial delays in new areas. Others pointed out incomplete work from partners on extras like tree trimming or duct repairs. Speed and quality draw praise in the solid feedback while price gets less mention. The overall record lands where it does because of these ups and downs. DIRT Score 3.18 from 13 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

Just over 2 years ago I Got solar panels from this company a few years ago. Their 3rd party Vendor PV South Texas offered the solar panels and other services, like foam insulation, generator hook up to breaker, tree trimming, and A/C duct repair. Vendor never did the extra services that were added to the loan. Called them a few times about the generator hook up when it was being installed they said they had no record of it or any other service offered. After calling multiple times and and talking to the vendor through text he said Texas Solar kept his part of the payment and couldn’t do the work. Called Texas Solar lady i talked to said they flagged all payments to vendor and if i wanted my money back that I was overcharged I needed to sue them. So they kept almost $25k and I never received any of the other services. Few months later saw same vendor with company shirt with Texas Solar logo on his shirt. So they still kept the vendor who offered the services they never paid him for.

This is our second solar install. Our first was in FL with a terrible installer (EHS). My husband and I found Texas Solar to be extremely communicative. While we did run in to some delays because we are in a new territory for TX Solar, they took necessary steps remedy everything to our liking. We think this is critically important for prospective new customers to consider as it was not the case with EHS and the myriad of issues we had with them.

I had a question on my current solar system and wanted an estimate on repair or service. After taking with Derek and Colby, they were able to help me out over the phone. They shared their years of solar experience and knowledge without cost to me. The least I can do is a leave an excellent review. Although I hope I don't need them in the future, they will be the first ones I call.

Installed 28 solar panels in Feb. Proposals from sales guy Jay were detailed and had options, specifically concerning using microinverters vs one central inverter. Decided on the microinverters. Jay was very knowledgeable plus.patient with my questions. Had been considering solar panels for years, but finally the combination of major panel price drop, Austin Energy Rebate, Federal credit, plus rising electric bill, resulted in a payback of 5 - 7 years. Installation crew was professional. Only problem was that Austin Energy could not get the billing/credit correct on the initial bill, but that is now corrected and everything is working well. I highly recommend Texas Solar Power - been abound for a long time, professional staff, and good price.

In 2012 we selected Texas Solar Power Company (TSPC) to install a 10,200 watt roof mounted Grid tied solar system at our Hill Country residence. Our decision was based based on working for many years in a similar technical field, carefully reviewing their proposal, and a careful review of a local commercial installation. In 2015 TSPC added additional Solar Panels to our system to increase our system size by 3,780 watts. Based on a return on investment (ROI) averaging more than 6% each year, in March of 2019 once again we selected TSPC to increase our Solar system size by adding 4,720 watts. Their personnel are very competent and and very accommodating. It has been a pleasure working with TSPC.
