About
Southwire operates as electricians out of Carrollton, Texas, where they handle wire and cable supply for local electrical work. Their lineup includes 600 volt secondary distribution, armored power cable, bare aluminum overhead lines, and related items pulled from standard catalogs. North Texas weather brings intense summer heat that overloads home circuits plus frequent thunderstorms that knock out power and damage lines. Electricians here deal with those conditions daily by running new feeds to air conditioning units, replacing storm affected wiring, and setting up temporary power during outages that hit subdivisions around Carrollton and nearby towns.
They provide electrician services focused on wire and cable installation along with tools and power management gear suited to residential jobs. Crews run secondary distribution lines into houses, install armored cable for garages and workshops, and handle overhead transmission repairs after high winds rip through the area. In Carrollton the work often involves fixing connections strained by constant air conditioner use or adding circuits for new appliances in older homes built before modern load demands. Technicians pull cable through attics that bake in the Texas sun and secure temporary lighting setups on job sites where regular power stays off during upgrades.
Customers point to steady material quality that holds up in local conditions but note mixed results on response times during peak storm seasons and pricing that varies with copper markets. Speed and communication draw the most comments in reviews while quality holds in straightforward wiring fixes. DIRT Score 3.04 from 112 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Got here at 2:30 PM for a pickup. Door 7. Parking’s not too bad, but getting out is the tricky part. I backed out the same way I came in. Out at 6:00pm cause I have some problems with paperwork….Good luck and stay safe out there!”
“Deceiving packaging. Extension cord wrapper has an American flag and Made in America below, as part of a TM. Really? I thought I was buying an American made cord, (should have known better), only to read the very fine print, Made in China. So the ChiComs win again. Hey Southwire, you are liars on your labels.”
“Van 53 15 pallets unloading 2 hrs and still counting. Door B on 3/3/2026 from 825 am. Now it's 10:35 am still waiting. I saw him counting 1 pallet 3 times and then repeat. Running the clock not worried about drivers time next load lost . Next customer disappointed distance driver might be running. Then speaks proper looks respectable but zero. A lot of people out there who needs the job and can do it faithfully. Sometimes seniority means nothing.”
“Not for the faint of heart drivers or newbies. No trouble at the scale, guy checked me in and gave me the map. Doors closed to go through the tunnel. Dock 7 for me, just go slow, pay attention and do your GOALs!”
“I read other trucker reviews and prepared myself for some mess, but this was actually not that bad. I'm delivering at Dock 4 North. It was easy to back in. Pay attention to the signs coming in or you'll miss the little veer off to the right to dip in when you want to check in”
“Horrible place to deliver. Hostile people at the docks, arrogant and indifferent. Exception was the lady at the scale house and the female guard. You have to back up crossing the railroad. NOBODY STOPS to let you back up to the filthy docks, the traffic behind you is endless. The RAILROAD is way higher than the road, so my trailer's landing gear (fully up) got stuck and was dragging. I.wasted almost 2 hours to manage to do the backing since utility cars, carts and flatbeds kept passing. Then I got stuck on tracks. Finally a young spotter took it and brought it to the filthy dock. At least he was pretty kind. The older yard spotters: rude. Trailer was super heavy and badly loaded anyway by the southwire of Hawesville KY. Not to mention the mess of Carrollton "road work"! I will avoid to g”
“Fastest unload ever. They don't play !! Love it !! Great job Guys.. Great Job!!”
“This place is becoming out of hand look how squish our trailers together can’t even get to your trailer with out a yard jockey”
“I was told you can deliver load before 11pm but they shut down early so they can go home early and make the drivers wait till next morning. VALUE DRIVERS TIME STAY OPEN TILL SCHEDULE TIME.”
“Always fast load here come at least twice a month.”
