“We went there to see what all the fuss is about and honestly were not impressed. There are other more interesting fairs throughout the United States. This one would be better if they booked headliner acts for the Cotton Bowl for the fair and included admission as part of the cost of the concert.”

“This is a really fun family or even intimate experience. It is iconic! Most who complain do mention that pricing is outrageous… but in my opinion they make affordable options for you to enjoy this as a fun experience. You are allowed to bring in a cooler with your own food or water (which I highly recommend) they only ask that the ice is bagged until you enter so they can ensure there is no contraband. There is a large indoor food hall where you can select from a huge variety of state fair options new and old. The games are around $8-12 each with the smaller kids rides being about $6-8. There is a huge shopping tent with vendors, an indoor car show & so much more. Parking is expensive, but taking the DART is always a cheaper alternative. This is an experience and event we will be taking our children to for many years to come.”

“Howdy folks welcome to the State Fair of Texas! This is always a great time, with tons of things to do with cars, rides, food, souvenirs, and of course Big Tex! For those who have not been and are planning to attend, the thing you need to know most is it is a ticket-based system which is about a dollar a ticket. Tickets are used for food, rides, pretty much everything except for the shopping areas which take normal payment methods. We're a family of three and on any given time that we've attended seems like we couldn't get out for less than $400 as a point of reference. Most expensive thing is probably the ferris wheel, the star of Texas, other than that it's just all the rides and the snacking and the things. It's a blast, I think it's one of the largest fairs in the world, if not the largest, and will leave a lasting impression!”
