About

2 J Electric Company operates out of Decatur in Wise County as a local electrician outfit handling residential power needs across the area. They take calls for outages and equipment problems that pop up in homes, especially when weather turns rough with ice building on lines or sudden drops hitting during the day. Homeowners around here deal with breakers that trip under load and surges that knock out appliances, so the crew focuses on getting those sorted without dragging things out longer than needed. The work covers basic setups, address changes for service, and on-site repairs when issues get reported through their system.

Their days involve quick responses to reported outages and breaker failures, such as one case where a cold front caused popping on the lines and the team showed up to check the equipment. Customers have noted fixes that stopped blackouts after online reports, along with handling small daytime surges that ruined meals in crock pots or left power unstable for hours. Some jobs require looking at the full setup rather than just swapping parts, though results vary when the problem ties into bigger line issues that need more than a single visit. They deal with the same Texas grid complaints that lead folks to the PUC after repeated calls go nowhere.

Feedback splits between fast fixes on straightforward problems and frustration over ongoing outages that keep returning, with communication sometimes limited to updates that nothing has changed yet. Speed earns points when they arrive promptly after a report, but quality and price draw lower marks when breakers need replacement or surges persist without clear resolution. This mix of solid quick jobs and repeated power headaches explains the overall standing. DIRT Score 3.1 from 105 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

I have had nothing but good experiences with this company. Easy set-up, easy address change, friendly people when you have to speak to them in person, and when there's an issue I've reported it online and they come out and fix things very quickly. AND no blackouts!! I appreciate their services!

If you have had power issues like me, then you need to file a complaint with the PUC of Texas so we can get it properly addressed. There is no other way. Calling in does no good at all as you are only told, or going to be told, they are “looking into it” which has been going on forever. File the complaint with the PUC! My rating is reflected properly as I feel the service and price overall are pretty decent, but the constant power glitches need to stop! For those who work from home, we lose meetings and have to wait for everything to come back up. Computers and other electronics do not respond well to just killing the power and eventually we may see one of these components fail. Additionally, they are going to cause people to lose their remote job because this doesn’t happen this often in most places! I lived in Fort Worth for 20 years and we might lose our electricity one to two times a YEAR unlike here where it happens once a week. Let’s also talk about those who use their appliances to cook food while out of the house when they are at work (not remote). Crock pots, ovens, InstaPot, etc. do not power back up after an outage. Now you have no dinner and lost $20 in groceries. If this is you, file your complaint with the PUC of Texas ASAP.

Is there anyway we can vote this company out of wise county? We need more electric providers. Talk about not wanting to do your job. It's a cold front as we speak. Our breaker is popping. We believe due to the cold ice on the lines. And we are being told we need a new breaker? This breaker looks fairly new to me. But okay.. Seems like they don't want to send anyone out. I guess the other 11 people with power outages need new breakers too. Never had any problems with the breaker popping until this cold front. We'll get electrician out her and see what they say.

We have had Wise Electric for the past 10 years with minimal issues. However, recently we have been having several small power outages during the day. Several times I’ve thrown dinner away that I have had in the crock pot, as it shuts off during the power surges. When I called to ask about what was causing it, the employee told me anything can cause power outages and it’s not their problem. I told her we haven’t had any issues in the last 10 years. She asked me where I lived, and then told me they knew there was an issue in that area and they have been monitoring it, but they wasn’t much they could do about it. We were never informed that there was an issue in our area and the lady I spoke with was very rude and unprofessional. She acted very annoyed that I even called. Unfortunately we live where we don’t have any other options for electricity. But if you have the choice, don’t choose Wise Electric. They are not what they used to be.

Terrible company. I have had multiple problems with this company. Errors with the online pay. Than today. My card got declined because a bank error. They won't allow a different payment because they lock your account. You have to go up and pay in cash. So Im supposed to leave work when I can't afford it and now have to pay 50+ dollars to re activate connection because I wouldn't make it up there in 20 minutes before disconnection. Well don't have the 50$. Don't have anyone at all in the state of Texas to go up there. So power got shut off with my kids in the house. Thanks for this. Worst company to deal with. What a joke. This is all under a prey pay account. Because I can't afford the 300$ start up cost of regular billing.
