About

Inland Marine Electrical Services runs out of Joshua, Texas, with master electrician Jim Birney at the helm after thirty years on the job. As a longtime local resident he handles residential and commercial electrical work across Joshua, Benbrook, and Burleson plus the wider DFW area. His focus stays on straight repairs, upgrades, and installs that keep homes and shops running without extra layers or delays. Jim built the company around practical service that matches what folks in these towns actually need when wiring fails or new power demands show up.

Jim handles jobs like installing 240 plugs in shops, setting up emergency standby generators, and fixing storm damage that hits the main electrical box. One call came in on a Thursday and he arrived the same day with an exact price that he charged without adding anything extra. Another time a wind storm drove a trampoline into the house and knocked out power, and he restored it safely so the family could get back to normal. Over ten years the same customers have brought him back for remodels, lighting work, car chargers, service upgrades, troubleshooting, and adding switches or receptacles that solve real problems on site.

Homeowners rate the crew high because the finished work stays solid and reliable every time, with fast responses that often mean same-day service and clear quotes that never change. Pricing stays fair without hidden costs, and Jim explains options in plain terms so everyone knows what is happening. Those strengths in quality, speed, price, and communication show up across the reviews and explain the steady repeat business. DIRT Score 4.17 from 13 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

Jim is our Saving Grace and a Master at what he does!!!! We are beyond grateful for his service, hard work, and genuine care to get us up and running again safely in our home! We got into a pickle during a recent wind storm causing our trampoline to fly into our house, main electrical box, and power line cutting off electricity to our home and putting us in great danger. This was a blessing in disguise as our previous electrical situation was very hazardous unbeknownst to us, our house was built in 1960 and the old equipment was grandfathered in. He knew the importance it was to get our family of six back into a safe home as soon as possible. He made us a priority, worked with insurance matters, city inspection, and got us up to code with newest equipment and regulations, completing installation within a day! He was an absolute pleasure to work with and showed great pride and knowledge in his work. There aren't enough words to express my gratitude Jim, thank you for getting my family back into a safe home.

Called Jim on a Thursday. He came out the same day and told me exactly how much it would cost. I needed a 240 plug put into my shop. Very nice guy. He charged me what he quoted me. I'm very thankful. All the other places wanted to charge to even look at what I needed. Thanks Jim! We will definitely call you if we need anything else.

Greatest service possible!!! Have used Jim for over 10 years. He installed an emergency standby generator at our house and has done many projects and repairs.

We have used Inland-Marine for a number of projects and Jim has always done great work. His attention to detail is top-notch and he has solved some challenging electrical situations for us with innovative and well thought out solutions. I would highly recommend Jim to anyone looking for electrical services.

I contacted Jim because my condo complex had a string of electrical fires which led to the destruction of several units. The association hired a company to inspect every electric panel box. The company hired gave my electrical panel a fail at everything except for the cover, which was in stark contrast with the home inspection performed when I purchased the place, so I called Jim he agreed with the home inspector. He also took the time to brief the president of the HOA board on my panel. I was so impressed by his honesty and commitment to his profession that I hired him for other electrical projects that I wanted to make. He knows everything about municipal bylaws. When he and Ryan arrived, they were on time and highly professional. I recommend them very much.
