Penney'S Electric Co. Inc
Electrician · Freeport, TX
About
Penney's Electric Co. Inc works out of Freeport, Texas as a local electrician outfit handling residential jobs around the area. They keep hours around the clock from their location on North Gulf Boulevard and take on smaller projects when other crews turn them down. Homeowners in this stretch of the Gulf Coast call them for basic wiring fixes and storm related repairs that pop up often enough in the weather down here. The crew shows up with trucks ready to handle outlets, service drops, and whatever else breaks in older homes along the coast.
They handle weather head replacements after big storms like Hurricane Beryl, where one crew got power restored to an elderly customer's house by moving fast on the damaged line. Other calls involve swapping out sockets or running new circuits, though some jobs end with loose wire left on the ground after hundreds of dollars in billed labor or suggestions to just plug in an extension cord instead of making a proper repair. The electricians answer questions on site and try to keep things moving, but results vary depending on who shows up that day and how much attention goes into cleanup and finish work.
Customers note quick phone responses and crews that arrive on time while staying polite during the visit, especially when restoring power after weather hits. That side earns points for speed and manners on straightforward fixes. At the same time the lower marks come from repeated complaints about sloppy wire runs, incomplete fixes, and work that looks unfinished or lazy once the crew leaves. The mixed track record on quality and follow through pulls the overall rating down. DIRT Score 2.5 from 17 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Sorry craftsmanship. The result of $480 in labor in the pictures. Not only zero craftsmanship, but this is just lazy and disrespectful. 15'+ of wire laying on the ground. Doesn't matter what the jobsite condition is, this is trash work all around.”
“Took great care of us after Hurricane Beryl tore up my elderly mother’s weather head. They were very prompt to respond, and did their best to work quickly to get her back to restored power. Very nice people work there, especially Shawna! Super helpful.”
“We used them for yrs and every time there is someone new which hey is ok until u hire someone who only knows how to replace a socket. The last time they came over we were told to run an extension cord versus fix it. They were supposed to let us know with a call back when we said no to that and never heard from them again...after yrs of using them..I felt ripped off big time. Bye Penny electric.”
“My calls were answered promptly. Also, electricians were here on time, very courteous and professional. I care about prompt, courteous and efficient service. That’s exactly what we recieved. Everyone I spoke to was very courteous and professional. Would definitely use them again.”
“The people at Penny's Electric are some of the most knowledgeable, professional and kindest people in the business. What a tremendous asset to our community. Absolutely highly recommend this company!”
