About

Acgv Electric Llc operates as a locally owned electrical contractor right in Houston, Texas, handling work for both homes and businesses throughout the Greater Houston area. Their focus stays on straightforward electrical services like installations, troubleshooting, and upgrades that keep properties running safely without cutting corners. The crew draws from hands-on experience dealing with the region's frequent storms, older housing stock, and growing power needs from new appliances and additions. Homeowners call them for everything from sudden outages to planned renovations because the team shows up ready to handle real-world problems on site rather than overpromising.

Electricians from Acgv Electric Llc cover 24/7 emergency calls where issues like power loss get diagnosed fast, along with panel upgrades, breaker replacements, and full safety checks to meet current codes. Jim has handled jobs such as replacing breaker boxes during home renovations and tracing problems like faulty wiring left by previous contractors, sometimes bringing in Centerpoint Energy to sort the root cause before returning to finish extra fixes beyond the original request. They also install LED lighting, recessed fixtures, and landscape setups while performing repairs on tripping breakers, flickering lights, and outlets that stop working. The approach relies on accurate diagnostics first, then clear recommendations that restore function without unnecessary add-ons.

Customers note solid speed when Jim arrives and identifies issues in minutes, along with strong quality in professional conduct and extra effort on repairs that go beyond the call. Communication stands out in reviews where the team explains wiring problems plainly and follows up on questions after initial visits. Price feedback varies, with some jobs praised for thoroughness and others flagged for work done without permits or fully to code on breaker updates and rewiring projects, which pulls the overall rating down. These patterns across the reviews produce the mixed results that reflect both reliable fixes on smaller jobs and occasional setbacks on bigger compliance matters. DIRT Score 3.12 from 14 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

Called Jim & he diagnosed the problem in minutes. Called Centerpoint Energy to fix what Jim said. After that, Jim came back & went above and beyond fixing more than what the original issue was. He really knows what he is doing. On top of that, he is courteous, polite & highly professional. Glad a friend recommended him.

We used these guys when we moved into our house about six years ago. We had a lot of issues with the renovators who had done the wiring in the house. AC DC came out, gave us some neutral insight into the wiring and helped us with follow-up questions. Even gave some insight into how to follow-up with the city of Houston. Since then, when I've had electrical issues have contacted and Jim has always been responsive. Nice guy, knows what he's doing, and he's always honest about pricing and what needs to be done or what doesn't need to be done. Update: Had to use Jim for some other issues. He's a really great guy and was super flexible on meeting us. Jim's by the books, meaning he always pulls permits, looks things up, etc. He even walked by a t-shirt heat press of mine and was like, "ohhh, let me fix that cord....". Even by the book, he's chill and honest, not intimidating at all.

We had Jim replace and update our breaker box two years ago. At the time he assured us it would handle any future home renovations. We are currently renovating our home and have come to find out the work he did was without a permit and not to code on several different levels, and can't actually handle our renovations. So, we paid him $2400 two years ago to now turn around and pay someone else over $3000 to correctly replace the box and ensure it is to code. Based on this I could never recommend his work to anyone.

I've had AC/DC come out and do some small jobs for me in the past and they did a fairly good job. However, one of the projects we're doing this year is the complete re-wiring of our home. I called AC/DC and the owner, Jim Caughman, came out to give me a quote. I got the impression that while he was getting the information for what we wanted, it was a little over his head. He kept telling me that, because of the house's low roof, he wouldn't be able to change some of the wiring in the front. We're getting the wiring changed because we don't want to have that old, original wiring anymore so leaving some in place was not an option. I just thought that was kind of odd. Anyway, he finished getting our information and said he'd email a quote to me in a day or two. A week went by and we hadn't heard anything from him. No call, email, or anything. After a few more days an email from AC/DC lands in my inbox. Instead of the quote he promised, it was a letter telling me he had decided to decline the job with no explanation. That was very unprofessional and left a bad impression on me. He could have at least called, talked to me like an adult and explained his reasoning. I won't call them again.

a short while back, James came out to our house, which me moved into following Harvey .... we had only been here a few weeks after the storm ... we had multiple electric issues here, as this house is 1950's era ... we were continuously blowing circuit breakers with our 1990's era appliances et al ... he not only has us up and running, but has done so with the blessing of the City of Houston attached to our newly installed breaker box!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
