About

Goodsmith Homecare & Repair, Inc works out of Houston, Texas where they focus on electrician services as part of broader home repairs. Local weather brings humidity and storms that often lead to electrical issues in single family homes, and the company sends crews to handle those jobs along with related fixes. Their operation includes scheduled maintenance that covers wiring checks and fixture work, drawing from a setup that trains crews to show up prepared for common Houston household problems like flickering lights or outlet troubles.

Technicians handle tasks such as replacing old hinges on doors that stick or sag, mounting hardware, and swapping out light fixtures that have flickered for months. One crew fixed a complicated wall issue by devising a practical cover for a knee wall door, while another arrived on time to adjust multiple doors and hinges before offering to tackle an extra job in the remaining time. Maintenance visits routinely include swapping smoke alarm batteries, replacing air filters, and addressing electrical glitches that homeowners put off, keeping everything running without drawn out delays in the process.

Customers keep coming back because the crews show up when promised, finish electrical and repair work without cutting corners, and charge fair rates for the scope completed. Reviews note consistent politeness, quick resolutions on long standing problems like faulty fixtures, and solid results on both simple outlet swaps and tougher carpentry tied to electrical access. That pattern of reliable performance across dozens of jobs adds up to strong marks for speed and quality. DIRT Score 4.82 from 70 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

I wouldn’t recommend or contract with Goodsmith again. Their marketing seems to make them reliable and efficient, but our experience was anything but that. We had a project to paneling over a wall to hide a knee wall door in a bedroom. Someone came out to scope the projects and recommend speciality materials to order. 2 weeks later when the project started, the handyman wasn’t familiar with the various aspects of the job, hadn’t brought the special order materials that we paid for. Some specialty materials weren’t used but we were charged. The handywork wasn’t good quality— trim unleveled and poorly cut wood trim that had to be redone (but only after we pointed it out to the carpenter). The door didn’t close properly, so the carpenter suggested using a screwdriver or Allen wrench to open the door instead of fixing it. Ultimately we told him various times it wasn’t acceptable, until the door was able to open with a handle/knob and not a screw driver. We still can’t phantom how using a screwdriver was ever an acceptable solution instead of a knob. Everyone had an excuse and a scape goat each step of the way rather than taking accountability. They sent out the PM and GM to check in, which helped ensure we were more aligned on the scope of project. It’s only been two weeks since the project has been completed and the paint is peeling off and the paneling that was installed is splintering around the cuts (obviously not with Goodsmith).

I was very pleased with my first experience with Goodsmith. I had several hinges and doors that needed help. The service provider was on time, polite, and knew exactly what to do. He finished the scheduled jobs in less than the time I had booked, so he offered to complete an additional task while he was there. I highly recommend Goodsmith.

I’ve used Goodsmith on several occasions for some complicated issues and in each case I’ve been impressed with the level of professionalism and expertise. In one case, a carpenter devised a unique and creative way to fix a complicated problem - an excellent job providing a workable solution.

Just had my first maintenance appt with Goodsmith. The Tech was polite, thorough, and fast. He changed the filters, batteries on smoke alarms, checked a few other things and changed a flickering light fixture that has been bothering us for 6months! We would’ve never gotten around to taking care of these seemingly simple tasks without the help of this service. Great first experience.

This was my first time using a handyman repair service. I was out of town and the garage man door came off the hinges at the top. My tenant was unable to do anything with the very heavy 8-ft door hanging ajar. After a little research on Google, I found the good Smith app. I liked what I saw so I took a risk and put in a request. The company was extremely communicative, and the handyman did an impeccable job. The final rate was extremely reasonable… Reasonable enough that I will definitely use them again. It’s helpful to find a service you trust that you’re not scared to call because rates are crazy. Give them a try!
