About
Upward Electric works out of New Caney, Texas, as an electrician handling power distribution and outage repairs across the local grid. They cover residential areas including Riverwalk and Kingwood where storms and daily wear often knock out service. Crews respond to downed lines and blackouts that hit without warning, dealing with the same stretches of overhead wires and transformers that serve homes on short leases and long term stays alike. The outfit keeps crews on call for emergency fixes but faces the reality of an aging network that leaves residents without power for hours or days at a stretch.
Their work centers on restoring electricity after live wires drop during rain, clearing faults that cause repeated outages in calm weather, and sending crews to neighborhoods where service drops twice in three days. Technicians track issues like the one reported at 2:45 in the morning with power still off past 9 a.m., or the four separate blackouts in a two month span that residents compared to worse conditions elsewhere. Updates come in the form of repeated time windows that slip without crews arriving, and the grid maintenance leaves areas exposed when simple weather events trigger long delays instead of quick resets.
Customers in New Caney and nearby spots flag slow crew arrival, repeated false time estimates on restoration, and unreliable service that fails even without storms, which drives down marks for speed, quality, and communication. These patterns show up across dozens of accounts where power stays out overnight or longer despite promises, and the cost stays high for the results delivered. What Customers Say
“Power outage with live wire hanging in Riverwalk since 2:45 am . Rain ended at 3:30, kept getting fake updates that power will be restored by 7 am even till 8:15 am. It’s 9 am and still no crew in sight”
“Our power has gone out twice in three days for hours at a time under literally no storming or other unfortunate circumstances. As soon as we are able to move, we will escape this godforsaken third world electric company and its disastrous efforts to bring power to the Kingwood area.”
“Worst energy grid I have ever seen in the U.S. I have lived all over including multiple African countries. New caneys energy grid is like a third world country and the cost is out of this world. Only live here for 2 months and had 4 power outages. Definitely not staying when my 1 year lease is up.”
“This has been one of the worst service experiences I’ve dealt with. The power has been out since yesterday at 4 PM, and instead of honest updates, we kept getting the same “3–4 more hours” message over and over—only for that time to pass with nothing fixed. Now it’s the next day and the estimate has changed again. At this point, it feels like no one actually knows what’s going on. The biggest issue isn’t even the outage itself—it’s the lack of transparency. Just be upfront. People can plan around a long outage if they’re given real information, but pushing the timeline back wastes everyone’s time and leaves customers stuck waiting with no clear direction. And honestly, if handling outages and communication is this difficult, maybe it’s time to bring in help call CenterPoint Energy or someone who can actually manage it better. It’s even more frustrating knowing there aren’t other providers to choose from. When customers are stuck with one option, the least that can be done is provide reliable service and honest communication and that’s clearly not happening here”
“I’ve had a really frustrating experience with this power company. Paying a bill should be simple, but their online and phone systems make it unnecessarily complicated. What should take 2–3 minutes turns into a 15–20 minute ordeal just to get through their automated system. On top of that, there’s no clear communication about when payments are processed or when bills are due. I’ve literally had my power shut off without any helpful warning or updates, which is unacceptable. This company seriously needs to improve its billing system and customer communication. Basic services shouldn’t feel this difficult.”
