West Electric Company
Electrician · Lubbock, TX
About
West Electric Company works as electricians out of Lubbock, Texas, covering industrial and commercial jobs across a 200-mile radius. The outfit traces its start to 1944 and came back under new ownership in 2022. Crews focus on electrical services mixed with motor repairs, automation, and hydraulic work to keep plants and facilities running in West Texas. Local weather brings extreme heat that stresses equipment, so the company stays ready for calls on cotton gin setups, compressors, and control panels that fail during peak seasons. Homeowners and plant managers alike deal with sudden outages that hit production or daily comfort.
Electricians from the company handle motor services, industrial compressor fixes, electrical controls, and hydraulic equipment repairs while also installing commercial LED lighting. They send technicians out for quick diagnostics on tripped panels or seized bearings and keep crews on call around the clock for emergency shutdowns. Work often involves testing automation systems and replacing parts on equipment that runs nonstop. In Lubbock summers, crews see plenty of calls tied to heavy AC loads that push bills higher, along with billing disputes where customers report disconnections over small payment shortfalls or lack of notice. Response times stay tight so facilities avoid long downtime.
Customers note mixed results on speed and communication, with some praising understanding during tough periods like job losses but others frustrated by abrupt service cuts and no follow-up on errors. Quality holds up on straightforward repairs yet price complaints surface when small balances trigger shutoffs. Overall feedback shows room for better handling of customer situations across the 23 reviews collected. DIRT Score 3.15 from 23 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“SPEC is a joke. They will literally disconnect your service if your payment is lower than 50.00. I would give it zero stars. Go to a different electric company if you can, I would recommend not to go through SPEC. They don’t care about the customers all they care about is the money.”
“Horrible shut down my electricity with ZERO warning when I paid my bill. This has happened TWICE. They never really apologized and didn’t offer any compensation. Horrible.”
“I’ve had SO Electric for five years now and I’m SO glad. I keep my AC on62-63 degrees in the summer (67 is the highest I’ll go) and then as warm as I want in the winter, and people who don’t have SP tell me there’s no way they could afford their electric bill if they did this. And the highest my electric bill is $90-$120. I have high ceilings too. My past two electric bills have been $45 and $67. I have a 1600sq. ft,, 3 BR home. So any house I get when I mover, I’ll make sure SP is an option for electric.”
“This is wonderful company of good hearted people during this hard time, with all the Covid cases and people losing their jobs. Mrs Debbie is very understanding and helpful to your situation if she can. But what they say it’s always one bad apple in the bag and that’s why I couldn’t give 5 stars Brittany is very rude she wants to compare her life with yours when it’s impossible when you are sitting behind a desk and thousands are losing their jobs due to COVID, if you need help please avoid talking to her ask for Mrs Debbie or the other nice ladies will do there best to help.”
“So i got electric in my name and they put it in my husband and my name. ASSUMED! When i had to pay a deposit on something its going in my name. Then when i called them out on the problem they were VERY RUDE AND SACRCASTIC. then tried to charge me ten dollars to simply have my husband name tooken off. UMM NO WAY IM PAYING FOR YOUR MISTAKE. I had to yell at the supervisor to the point she waived the 10$ just to get me off the phone. I mean it was a simple problem to fix and they had to turn it into a bigger problem. I believe the supervisor name was becky. She needs to learn to have more manners. And to not cut people off everytime they speak. Very unproffesional. Not happy with this company.”
