Silver Star Electric Company
Electrician · Midland, TX
About
Silver Star Electric Company works as an electrician based in Midland, Texas. The crew takes on residential electrical jobs that often tie into utility coordination, such as handling outages and preparing homes for power restoration. Homeowners in the area call them when storms knock out service or when new builds need connections made. Their work focuses on getting power safely turned off for repairs and then back on once electricians finish the inside work. Midland weather brings frequent lightning and wind events that damage lines and panels, so these calls come up regularly for local families dealing with cold homes and no lights.
Electricians from the company respond to outage reports by disconnecting power quickly so other work can happen, sometimes arriving within an hour of the first call. They schedule disconnects and reconnects around jobs like fixing equipment damaged in the May 16 2024 thunderstorm or getting service started in new houses with kids. Customers reach out multiple times to set up appointments for power restoration after previous tenants left unpaid balances or after cold nights without electricity. The process involves coordinating with Oncor for final reconnection once the on-site electrical fixes are complete, though the company has been described as backed up when follow-up tech visits are needed.
Customers report repeated problems with scheduling and follow-through that explain the low marks across speed, communication, and reliability. Calls about reconnects after outages go unanswered or result in no-shows on the promised day, leaving elderly residents and families with children without power. Several reviews mention the same pattern of quick initial disconnects followed by long delays or office closures that prevent any resolution. These consistent complaints about missed appointments and poor updates on service requests led to the overall rating. DIRT Score 1.4 from 45 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“We had an outage recently and called for a repair. They were quick to disconnect power so repairs could be made, within an hour. Yet, asking for a tech to reconnect power is an issue. They're "backed up" allegedly. Yet telling me a tech would be out the day that it was scheduled. Tech never showed up within the time that was estimated. I called customer service and they reassurd me a tech was still on course to show up. After hours of waiting, a tech still did not show up. Called again and they apologized and said they were "behind" and they would be there soon. Of course they did not show. The next day came and still no tech. This went on for two days even though their customer service reassuring me the tech would be out the same day. Overall terrible service and reporting to the BBB and PUCT. People should not have to put up with less than satisfactory service. Don't lie to your customers. I wonder why their rating is in the gutter.”
“8:52 pm in my new home with three kids in the cold called several times and still no power I set services up weeks ago when I called four times earlier in day you said you’d be turning it on now your office is closed and I am without wish I could give 0 stars”
“When you are a monopoly which oncor is. You get ZERO customer service. My elderly mother in law had some electrical equipment damage after the May 16 2024 thunderstorm. We scheduled a disconnect and reconnect for Thursday May 23 so the electricians can finalize their work! Oncor never showed up and they refuse to take calls. All you get is a recording. I would be embarrassed to work for this company!”
“Oncor will hold you hostage and leave your family in the cold including little kids and the elderly for someone else bill! They do not care for anyone!! They laughed at me because I can't get service because of the last tenants bill! They love to be rude. Oncor said that they will not Release the switch hold until the previous tenant pays their bill. So I must move out of this property and rent another property in order for me to get electricity because they will not turn electricity on in this house. This is a fact”
“We’ve bought a new mobile home which we have out in outer part of midland. We need a light post and everything else installed to be able to move in. We’ve put the service out with Oncor since December of 2018 and we’re now almost to June of 2019 and nothing has been done. Communication with everyone is unsuccessful. They love to play phone and just pass you the phone number or email of someone else that will tell you nothing about any updates about what you are asking for.”
