Longhorn Solar

About
Longhorn Solar works as electricians out of Pflugerville, Texas with a focus on solar panel systems for local homes. They handle the full electrical side of solar installs including wiring and connections that tie into the grid. One homeowner had panels put in a decade earlier and reported they kept running fine through years of rain hail and snow with the crew staying available for follow up questions on small problems that popped up later. The outfit stays busy with projects that mix solar work and roof jobs where panels must come down and go back up.
Their crews take on panel removal and reinstall jobs such as taking off thirty seven panels for a new roof then putting them back in place while keeping everything in working order. Kathie Millen handled scheduling for one roof replacement so the solar portion moved without delays and met the needed steps. Other jobs involved sorting out array setups that had to match Travis county code rules after initial install ran long and required extra pushes to finish right. Homeowners call them when systems stop producing or when weather damage needs checking on the electrical connections.
Customers keep mentioning how the panels hold up over time and how the team answers calls quickly on minor fixes or scheduling. Reviews point to solid quality on the electrical work and fair handling of price for the removal and reinstall steps even when projects stretch across months. Communication stands out when one person like Kathie Millen keeps the roof and solar sides lined up. DIRT Score 4.94 from 376 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Longhorn Solar installed our panels a decade ago. They've since been through rain, hail, snow, and they continue to run well! Longhorn Solar service has been great, and I don't just mean the initial install. They've been responsive and helpful for all questions and minor issues that have come up over the years.”
“I purchased my solar system from Longhorn Solar in April 2022. Unfortunately, my experience after the installation has been very disappointing. In August 2023, I needed a new roof and paid over $13,000 to have Longhorn Solar remove and reinstall my 37 solar panels. The panels were supposed to be cleaned before being reinstalled, but they were not. They were also reinstalled with the dirty side facing my front porch, which was very noticeable. On top of that, I had to wait approximately four weeks after my roof was completed before the panels were put back on. In May 2025, a connection issue caused my entire system to stop producing power. Because my system uses a single inverter, when one issue occurred, none of the panels worked. It took nearly two months to get the problem resolved, leaving me without solar production during that time. Now, in May 2026, the system has stopped working again. It has been almost three weeks, and I still do not have an appointment scheduled for repairs. It feels like customer service and system maintenance are not a priority once the sale is complete. I purchased 37 panels with the expectation that they would offset approximately 80% of my electric usage. That has never happened. Even when the system is operating, I consistently have electric bills between $180 and $200 per month.”
“I’d like to share both the good and bad sides of my experience with Longhorn Solar. First, I want to recognize Kathie Millen for doing an excellent job coordinating my roof replacement project. She handled the scheduling for the solar removal and reinstallation, and that entire process went smoothly and professionally. I truly appreciate her effort and communication throughout that portion of the project. Unfortunately, the experience after that has been extremely disappointing. During the installation process, the installers accidentally damaged my motorcycle, causing approximately $1,600 in damage. I was immediately told it would “be taken care of” and that it would not be a problem. However, it has now been over two months, and I have not received a single response from management despite multiple emails being sent to Delisa, Danny, and the main service email address. On top of the repair costs, I had to rent a trailer to transport the motorcycle over 100 miles to San Antonio because very few shops work on that type of bike. I also had Uber expenses to get back and forth. Initially, I wasn’t even planning to ask for reimbursement for those additional costs, but the complete lack of communication and accountability has changed my perspective. What’s most frustrating is the lack of customer care after the damage occurred. Promises were made, but nobody followed through or even responded. At this point, it feels like my only remaining option is to pursue the matter in court, including the additional expenses and lost time. Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend staying away from Longhorn Solar. If damage occurs to your property, don’t expect timely communication or accountability from management. “We used longhorn solar to install solar panels in 2023. Our installation was drawn out and we had to fight with them in order to get them to complete it in accordance with Travis county code regulations. Then in April of 2026 we realized that the majority of our array had been inoperable for at least 4 months. We have been attempting to get service since then with minimal or not response. When I called on June 30, 2026 I was told that “we do not have a service department”. Be warned that if you purchase solar panels from this company they will not honor any warranty or service agreements.”
“Longhorn has competitive pricing, and a long track history (not brand new or fly-by-night). Most importantly, every issue that we've had (which inevitably occur) has been resolved. Over the past seven years we've had an inverter go out, and most recently a Tesla battery, and it's all been covered under warranty. There is always some delay between outage and resolution, but everything I've read says that this is common/normal with solar installation support from every company. Longhorn can't replace broken parts until they get the replacement parts, and those take time to arrive; and then it has to be scheduled for installation. There's no such thing as instant fixes from anyone when it comes to solar. A big plus is that every tech that has come out for any issue, as well as the tech I normally deal with via email (Luke), has been knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to explain things well. (And, no, I don't get any kickback/discount/whatever for positive feedback. I'm just... rather impressed!) (Aug 29, 2025 follow-up) There was a glitch in communication between the Tesla gateway and the rest of the system (solar panels and Tesla batteries). Longhorn had someone out the next week to get it fixed, and it's working perfectly now. Thanks!”
