About

Blackthorn Electric Llc works as an electrician based in San Antonio, TX. The company handles electrical repair and installation for homeowners, landlords, and local businesses. They take on jobs like fixing dead outlets, completing full panel upgrades, and running safety inspections before home sales. Same-day appointments stay open for urgent calls, and the crew covers both residential and commercial properties across the area. Electricians show up to troubleshoot circuits that fail or act up without warning. Homeowners in San Antonio often deal with older wiring that needs attention to avoid bigger problems down the line, and this outfit focuses on getting those systems back in working order through direct testing and fixes.

They troubleshoot issues such as flickering lights, dead outlets, and breakers that trip repeatedly by checking the full circuit including GFCI and AFCI protection to prevent shock hazards. One customer had them step in after another contractor walked off a job and finish the electrical work while staying comfortable around pets in the house. Another called for a quote to connect an electrical panel, but the visit lasted only ten to fifteen minutes before the crew said another issue blocked the work, yet the bill came back for over three hours of time. Calls about water heater problems led to scheduling mix-ups with late arrivals and no clear follow-through on the original request. A separate complaint came from someone who saw the company van driving poorly and cutting across lanes in traffic.

Customers give credit when jobs get completed and the crew acts decent around the home, but many reports highlight problems with billing for short visits, delays in showing up, and rough communication that leaves issues unresolved. Short service calls turning into large invoices stand out as a repeated concern, along with unprofessional handling of schedules and basic driving habits on the road. These patterns across the feedback explain the overall rating without much variation in the details shared. DIRT Score 2.72 from 20 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

These guys are the best! They helped me out when a contractor didn't do his job as agreed. They finished the work and they have been my electricians ever since. Genuinely good people. I'm totally comfortable with them in my home AND around my dogs. (That means a lot to me!) I have personally had great help and service from Mike in the office and Preston, Nacho and Miguel in the field. Very thankful for this company and their people!

Requested a quote to perform work to connect electrical panel. They arrived and decided that work could not be done due to another issue. Approx. 10-15 min visit. Received an invoice for more than 3 hours of work. After contacting

This is the most unprofessional, crooked company ever. First I did not pick this place, it was referred to me by water company having issues with water heater. First we called and they said someone will come out next day before 0900; come next day they called stating they where running late, then when they called saying they where at our location, they where not. (Not sure if can't use a GPS, read street signs, numbers) It took them another 30 min to show Finally at 9:32 they showed up, went in the back fuse box, unplugged and plugged something back in and left at 9:40; well sat in his car for awhile before leaving. That was fine, but when we got a call next day stating "we entered you email incorrectly can we get a new email to send you the invoice" so apparently they left in such a hurry could not write down correct information. Fast forward a week later got the invoice in the mail (not email) showing that he was here for 1hr and 15; and fuel. So we called and asked about, they couldn't find it so will call back. A week later they called back and stated that the time was when guy left office/or previous customer and left our house. We inform the guy that his employee was lost and didn't show up until 40 minutes after... And then they informed us that it is an hr minimum, but can take off the 25 min. So we end up paying a bill for $160 just to unplug something, and then they ask if we want a quote for a surge protector, nope, going someplace else.

Your company van was driving horribly, allowed a truck to cut in front of me and cross 3 lanes of traffic which then caused me to have to wait even longer at a light so here's a one star review for bad driving

Came out saw what was needed and said they would call next day with an estimate. I to this day have not heard from them but it's all good for it's been taken care of now by another Electrician and I'm very satisfied. Sometimes things happen for the best.
