About

South Texas Electrical Contractors Inc is based in San Antonio, Texas and focuses on electrical work as their main trade. Their setup connects to the South Texas training center that runs apprenticeship programs for both electricians and technicians. The electrician path takes four years with pay increasing each year from the first apprentice rate up to journeyman wages. Homeowners around here deal with heavy AC use and occasional bad weather that can knock out power or trip breakers so having trained local electricians matters for keeping things running right. The outfit pulls from that same pipeline to staff jobs across the city where summer loads and storms test every circuit.

They handle calls for new wiring in additions, replacing old panels that fail in the heat, and troubleshooting short circuits that pop up in older neighborhoods. Technicians coming through the program learn to run conduit, set fixtures, and make sure grounds are solid so systems pass inspection without issues. In San Antonio the work often involves dealing with high humidity that rusts connections fast and sudden storms that fry surge protection so they focus on solid installs that hold up. Crews show up to swap breakers, add outlets in garages, or rewire rooms after water damage from leaks, all while keeping an eye on codes that change with each update from the city.

Feedback on the group shows mixed results with some noting the admission steps moved clear and online while others flagged long waits and staff attitudes that slowed things down. Speed and communication drew the most comments across the batch with quality of the hands on side holding steady for those who made it through. Price came up less often but the overall average lands where it does because of those gaps in how the front end runs. DIRT Score 3.58 from 30 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

Do not recommend to anyone who isn't ALREADY in construction. They say you dont need experience but thats a complete lie. They are after application numbers more than actual apprentices. They actively encourage you to spend money on their courses to be "considered over others". Complete joke.

My son has applied for this school and so far the admission process has been clear, helpful and online which helps the process go faster. TY!

Instructors lie to get you in the door. They say they are accepting everyone yet they have over 750+ people on a waiting list. Dont listen to the bs.

All of the staff is Really rude especially the main person in charge Jon Martin I would not recommend this school to anyone. I didn't learn anything it was a waste of my time and money

Great start to a new career.
