Callaway's Carpet

Callaway's Carpet operates as a flooring store and contractor at 4034 N 1st St in Abilene, Texas. The business has handled flooring needs in the area since 1963 and maintains a showroom stocked with carpet, hardwood, laminate, tile, luxury vinyl, natural stone and glass tile. Services include in-home measurement, installation for both homes and commercial spaces, flooring repairs, custom area rugs and carpet re-stretching. Customers can request estimates by phone or by visiting the location.

Reviewers describe projects that cover full-house carpet replacement, vinyl plank installation across multiple rooms and carpet work limited to bedrooms or hallways. One account notes Wayne’s team handling bedrooms while Danny’s team finished the hallway, with both crews completing the work efficiently and leaving the spaces ready for use. Another customer had Rhonda arrive the day after an initial call to measure several rooms and return a written quote before lunch, followed by two installers removing old carpet from four bedrooms and laying new material in under five hours. Several mentions highlight Rhonda guiding selections for vinyl plank and carpet, answering repeated questions without rushing, and arranging fixes when minor concerns arose during installation.

Work proceeds with quick scheduling after measurements and phone quotes that give ballpark figures based on style and quality. Install crews typically arrive on time, finish within a single day for standard residential jobs, clean up afterward and sometimes assist with moving smaller furniture back into place. Reviewers note that final prices occasionally came in below the original estimate once exact measurements were confirmed. The business serves customers in Abilene and surrounding parts of the Big Country, with most jobs completed on weekdays.

The collected reviews show a pattern of praise for Rhonda’s product knowledge and follow-through plus the install teams’ attention to detail and politeness, alongside occasional notes on ridges after carpet stretching or missed callbacks that led some customers to cancel orders.

“Callaway’s Carpet made the entire flooring process easy and enjoyable. From the moment we walked into the showroom, their team was friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help us find the perfect flooring. Stacy, our sales consultant, was absolutely amazing! She guided us with professionalism and genuine care, making the selection process smooth and stress-free. The installation was handled by two incredible teams—Wayne’s team took care of all the bedrooms, while Danny’s team completed the hallway. Both teams were professional, efficient, and paid great attention to detail. The quality of the carpet is fantastic—it looks beautiful and feels great underfoot. We couldn’t be happier with the result. Highly recommend Callaway’s Carpet for anyone looking to upgrade their flooring!”

“Quality customer service and product. When I first called they were willing to give me a pall park quote over the phone and current numbers based on the style and quality we were looking for. When we were ready to move forward, Rhonda came to our house the next day, took measurements of all the rooms, and had a quote to us before lunch. Install day: 2 very nice, polite and professional gentlemen removed all old carpet from 4 bedrooms and installed new in a little less than 5 hours. They cleaned up after themselves and even offer to help move some of the smaller furniture back into the rooms we had moved out before they arrived. Fair prices and, most importantly to me, awesome customer service! Thanks to Rhonda and your install team for a job well done! Highly recommend!”

“We just purchased new vinyl plank and carpet from Callaway’s. We originally planned to get bids from several vendors, but Rhonda made us so comfortable and we found exactly what we wanted! The guys did a beautiful job installing it all, and the one concern we expressed was dealt with cheerfully and to our satisfaction. If you need new floors, go to Calllaway’s! Ask for Rhonda — she’s the best. 😊”

“We have done business with Callaway’s for several years and would not buy from anyone else. Rhonda is a super person and so efficient. Danny is a great installer and has a good crew. They put four rooms of carpet in for us today and they are really good workers and very conscientious about their work.”

“We had Rhonda wiith Callaway help us out deciding on a new floor. She is great, never got tired of all our questions, made sure we were comfortable with our decision. The installers were great as well, arrived the same time each day, cleaned up, also answered questions with no problem. We highly recommend Callaways Carpet for your floors.😁”

“We got carpet from them in the last 2 or 3 years and the installation left a lot to be desired. Part of the carpet has already been re-stretched, but we have ridges all over the place. Pretty weak.”

“Picked out a great carpet and they scheduled the install next day. The installer was on time, did a fantastic job and even vacuumed afterwards. They forgot to send my package of tp tho- advertised free tp with purchase 😁 Ill go by to pick it up.”

“Met with Steven. Picked a carpet for our new home. He told us he would measure house that afternoon and get us a price the following week. We never heard back!!! He was too focused on his fishing trip he was going on the next day and completely forgot about us. Our business went to Menke Flooring!”

“Great selection and Rhonda Huestes very helpful with information about products and organizing the job. Fast installation. Will definitely use for next project!”

“Poor customer service. Appointments not kept, installers given erroneous information which did not allow them to install at the appointed time. I called to speak with the manager and he did not seem to be the least bit concerned with the lack of customer service. I cancelled our order and will be going elsewhere for any future flooring needs.”

“Very professional, friendly, and courteous. After they checked my measurements, the final price came in lower than their already low estimate. 100% recommend.”

“I’ve used Callaway’s on a few different projects. Rhonda is always super helpful and quick to do anything needed to get the job done. Thanks, guys!”
