“Modern Home Improvement & Remodeling did an excellent job on our master bathroom renovation. After the demo of our outdated master bath, they installed new flooring, created detailed tile work in our new, larger shower, added a beautiful vanity, and even replaced our old window with an updated one. Their team also handled the framing of a pony wall, plumbing and electrical work with skill and care. The crew was professional, respectful of our home, and kept everything clean throughout the project. We’re thrilled with the results and highly recommend them.”

“Modern had completed two projects for me so far & has done really good work > they've completed both projects within the time frame & budget > they were at the house when they said they would be there > I have three more projects & Josh will get a call first project was the second bathroom tub/shower to walk-in shower > I never knew I needed a place to sit in the shower until this > not sure I could live without one now second project was painting the second bathroom vanity white > painting the kitchen cabinets white > add crown molding in the kitchen > change the floor in master bedroom to brighten it up master bath is coming soon...Josh”

“Josh and Raul and their crews are 10/10. This is the second project we’ve used them for. Josh helped me design a patio concept that would make us actually want to send time in our backyard during the Houston summer. He worked within our budget to come up with some ideas, and Raul and team brought everything to life. They were responsive, finished the job in the time they quoted, and I always felt like they were doing the right thing for us as their client. Pictures of before and after. They completed a patio extension, and did a covering with a beautiful gable, recessed lighting with fans. Installed additional electrical as well. Thanks, Josh and team!”

“We recently hired Modern Home to renovate our fireplace mantle, and the experience exceeded our expectations. Josh was incredibly friendly, clearly explained the entire process, and was a pleasure to work with. He checked in with us daily and frequently stopped by in person to ensure everything was on track. His crew was fantastic—professional, courteous, and always left the workspace spotless at the end of the day. The finished fireplace and mantle turned out even better than we imagined. We highly recommend Modern Home! Before and after pictures below”

“After discussing our Primary Bathroom renovation project with 4 contractors, as well as getting pricing, we selected Modern Home Improvement & Remodeling. Josh and his team were very reliable, responsive and knowledgeable. He took the time to understand the details and what we were looking for. Raul was our foreman and spent a lot of time with us as the project progressed. Every worker that was on the project and who spent time in our house was neat, polite and friendly. Everyone took time to ensure the disruption to our house was minimized and the dust and debris that was generated by the project was reasonably contained. Josh and Raul offered great ideas and opinions to help us finalize the details as work progressed. Our project was not a cut & dry project and required some true understanding of the details. Josh was fair and transparent on all pricing. Bottom line: We would highly recommend Modern Home Improvement & Remodeling for any home remodeling projects and would not hesitate to use them on our next project. Shari C.”

“Our experience with Modern Home Improvement lived up to our expectations and made a challenging situation a pleasure. Owner Josh was very helpful in helping to create a vision that worked for our bathroom conversion needs. Our project manager Nathan was great at keeping communication going throughout the process and offered useful recommendations concerning items that required judgment. The quality of their work was consistent and everyone involved was a pleasure to work with. I have recommended. them to others and would not hesitate to use them again.”

“I can’t recommend this company for any type of remodeling or construction. I don't know how others had such good work. I know some other reviews state a problem occurred and was corrected, In April 2025 I entered into a contract with Modern Home Improvement & Remodeling owned by Josh Smith. All fees have been paid in full which was in excess of $20,000 dollars for LABOR ONLY. The work is about 80% satisfactory however, the mistakes that have been made and future possible damage is unprofessional at all levels. Mr Smith claims to be a General Contractor (only) but uses the same subcontractors for multiple job sites as needed. Per Mr Smith he was using 2 teams during my contract, however only 1 team completely worked at my project. The project was a master bathroom remodel and closet flooring. I was mislead by the use of non-licensed individuals in electrical work, plumbing as required per Texas requirements. In addition, the team led by Raul who admitted to being a illegal alien working for Mr Smith and Ismael (illegal worker). There was another individual working on a visitor visa. This information has been provided to the proper authorities. The lead Raul, who is not a lice”

“Josh and his team did an amazing job on our custom island. Exceptional customer service, top Quality custom work! Highly recommend Josh and his entire team! Thank you!!!”

“Josh's team remodeled our shower and we were really pleased with how it came out. I had some exterior work needed as well, and I asked Josh for his insight. I had a lot of "what if" questions regarding the different options to fix our place up, and he was extremely thorough in his advice without pushing/selling any extra work. He went as far as to recommend an inspector to get our house assessed to ensure the work we were doing was necessary, and up to code. He's gone the extra mile for us, and we'll always be grateful.”

“Mudroom March 2026. Very impressed by the professionalism and the work. Very nice. My wife really likes it. I strongly recommend you calling Josh for your next home project.”

“I hired Josh and team to install a new back door on my house. When the house was built the builders didn't do it correctly which caused issues and ended up ruining part of the floor as well. The new door and floor was installed in less than a week, and they made sure everything was up to our standards. I highly recommend hiring them for your next project.”

“Josh and his team at Modern Home Improvement did a wonderful job with our home repair after we sustained water damage from a tub overflow. The team was very accommodating in working with our schedules to get the repairs done in an efficient and thorough manner. Curtis, our primary contractor, was amazing to work with and explained every step of the process as we went along! He made us feel comfortable and involved in the shared decision making as it was not a straight forward project. We appreciated them taking the time and energy to pay attention to the details, and perform their work the “right way”. We would highly recommend others to use this company for repair work in their home. Danielle and Michael”

“Would rate between 4.25 to 4.5 stars, but don't want a 4 too heavily affecting their aggregate review so rounding up. First let me say we're REALLY happy with the final product. This was our second experience with doing updates to this home and at this point we think it's probably normal to expect that the job will take longer than they said it would (in this case significantly longer) and there's the potential for them to book jobs too closely together (I.e. during the first two weeks the main guy working did half days or wasn't here a couple times because of wrapping up another project). Foreman also wasn't here as frequently as we would have liked and that may have kept our project more in line with the projected timeline. With that being said like I mentioned previously we're VERY happy with the final product and they worked with us to address any concerns we had with certain things and Nathan (foreman) went above and beyond when it came to addressing anything we found with the "blue tape walkthrough". Carlos, the tile guy, does great work.”

“We had some unfinished master bathroom renovation from our previous contractor. I reached out to Modern Home Improvement to get a quote and they were very responsive. Josh and his team were so easy to work with! Nathan, the project manager was always accessible and responsive! Everyone in their team were very respectful of our space and cleaned up after a days of work! I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends. Their customer service is commendable! - Meril Jacob”

“Josh and his team from Modern Home and Improvement did a fantastic job of converting my 30+ old master bathroom into a gorgeous walk-in shower. The whole crew was very pleasant to work with. Josh was only a phone call away for any of my extra questions! Thank you Josh, Nathan and Raul for exceeding my expectations. I will definitely work with you again and highly recommend you to my friends and family.”

“Josh did our HUGE remodel at our office. He was patient and kind with us. Our office looks beautiful! We are very happy with Josh and company!”

“Josh and his crew were courteous, patient and professional. I’m extremely pleased with the outcome of the remodel of my master bath and half bath. I will definitely recommend Modern Home Improvement and will call on them for my next project”

“***** Five Star Review All the Crew members and owners are welcome in our home anytime. A Fabulous experience with Josh & Nathan and the professionals they employ for each specialty project. We had a small room transformed into a cute office with built-in window seat & shelves. OUTSTANDING WORK. We had the master tub removed & they created a great vanity area with a seat & many drawers .. really nice change & extra storage. We left them here in our home to complete the work, as we traveled. They are all polite, professional and kind guys!! All the work was finished in a timely manner & cleaned up as they finished. Yes... We will hire them again and you will be happy to hire them yourself. KC & Mike Costello Cypress, TX.”

“Very pleased with the work done by MHIR. I had a rehab that was a complete gut and fix. Raul was on my project from start to finish and had it knocked out within about 4 weeks. Day one we walked the project and started ripping up floors. I will say that I could have used more pictures throughout the rehab and that I bought a few pieces that I couldn't use even though I sent pictures and measurements to everyone but other than that the house looks like a whole knew house. The time line was as predicted and the team kept to the predicted budget. Will definitely be using these guys again.”

“Josh and his crew were awesome! Very responsive and all about customer satisfaction! He came to the house twice even before I hired his company. Once for an interview, and again to verify all measurements. He actually listened to my plan and was able to help make my vision happen! I interviewed a handful of other companies before deciding to hire them. I had a different pushy contractor tell me, “This is what I want to do, I’m going to take it down to the studs.” Not Josh! He sat down with me and looked at pictures, my drawings, and was happy to work with my specific plan. Plus he is reasonable in his costs. The craftsman that did our work was great. He was skilled, precise, and checked everything with me as he worked. Josh and his team were easy going, kind, and hard working family oriented men. It was a pleasure to have them in our home. Any little issues were addressed quickly and with care. Josh even spent a day driving all over the place to find the last existing piece of undamaged black marble in Houston! Josh and his team treated the job like it was their own bathroom. Thank you guys so much! We love our new bathroom!”
