A few reviewers said the price came in higher than other local shops for the same parts or included extra charges they did not expect, while others called the cost competitive for the speed and results they received.

“My Mother hospitalized and I had to rush home to grab few things and her hospitalization required me to be with her /the hinge (bolt) that raises garage busted loose snd started fold bending door and door would not go up or down ..so I was trapped in garage (car trapped in garage)—I called a number that was in garage motor and they unable to fit me in their schedule/so I called OGD who had helped me in the past and operator on phone calmed me down (as if I was on a call with ems —wonderful person)and reassured me and OGD was there and had the door fixed all within 40 minutes of phone call !..So making it possible to return to hospital in due time!!THANK YOU OGD They were caring courteous and efficient /and didn’t try to sell me in extra repairs I know will need in the very near future! Only charged me service charge $59”
“OGD responded very quickly to our call and sent a technician out within an hour. However, I feel I cannot give a better review just because their pricing is so high. My wife felt pressured to make a quick decision on the suggested service - replacing sensors ($160). However, OGD's quote for that also included a mandatory motor repair package, adding $250 to the price. After I returned from work, I contacted 3 other overhead door companies which all stated that they would be able to simply replace the sensors without charging a motor repair service, which would've saved us $250. We feel upsold, and it's unlikely we will use OGD again. Edit: From the response below so others may be aware. We listened to the voicemail and responded. It took several phone calls to get through to management, however it was over the holiday so that may be why. What was repeated by your management is that you "cannot just show up, slap on photo sensors and walk away." All other companies we called said they could indeed show up, install the photo sensors and walk away leaving us with a working garage door. There was no need for the $250 dollar upsell under the guise that it was needed. $418 for r”
“OGD provided 2 services for us. Mitch did some repairs on an existing garage door and did a fantastic job. The door works great with no issues. Victor installed 3 new openers on our shop. It definitely made getting things into the shop much easier. Both were courteous and professional. We would work with both of them again. I highly recommend OCD for any of your garage door needs!”
“I would love for you to come see what a person with a strong work ethic and takes pride in their work looks like. My son went back over and redid all the wires ticktackrd all over the ceiling...it is now nice straight, squared, and secured...he moved the button that was put in the middle of the wall, right next to the door you walk in and out of the house (common sense). He also found a universal keypad for $40, not $189 and two extra remotes $20, not $159. I feel like no one actually from OGD cared enough to check on this contractor's work. Very disappointing in a company that's been around for so long...I feel my son should get paid for fixing it all.”
“I got a quick appointment (next morning), the worker came promptly, diagnosed the issue, and got the job done. He was very pleasant, let me ask a lot of questions, had everything he needed on his truck, and made sure everything was working well before leaving. Everything got cleaned up. He did a good, honest job.”
“I was glad they could come out on Monday after I called on a Saturday. I appreciate someone answering the phone 24/7. The company that was assigned my case by the Home Warranty company was not going to be out until a week later. My car was locked in the garage because the spring failed. So it was worth it to me to pay a little more for fast service. Mike was a very knowledgeable tech and showed me some maintenance tips. He had the equipment he needed on truck when he came out and fixed the door in less than an hour.”
“Never have I felt as disappointed and mislead by a local, "family-owned" business as by Overhead Garage Door. The public needs to know about this company's pricing abuse and sales practices. Every business is entitled to a profit, but if the same parts that Lowe's sells for $350 and charges $230 to install set me back $921.48, something is wrong. And it really stinks when OGD does NOT include the second clicker for the car (didn't tell me before installation started), the door keypad, or even the two lightbulbs! According to the technician who did the installation, OGD charges $180 for a second clicker, included in the Lowe's package. Nor was I told before installation that my old door keypad would not work--I had to find out the hard way! Lowe's sold me a second clicker for $35 (and a keypad for $45), making OGD 414% more expensive. (Said technician quoted me a price of $100 to install and activate the extra clicker and door keypad, something that took me not even five minutes as it is a question of scanning two QR codes and attaching the panel with two screws to the door jamb. Oh, right, he also said he'd do it "under the table" for me for $50.) All told, after buying the extra ”
“Mike was great, very personable and knowledgeable. He not only took care of the issue, he educated us on the upkeep of the garage, and how to take care of it. He was able to bend our garage back into place, and the difference in the sound alone was worth the repair.”
“Manuel was great! He came out first thing in the morning and was done in less than an hour! He reattached both cables and the door is working better than before! Thank you so much!!!! 10/10 recommend!!!!”
“Overhead garage came to my rescue! They showed up in 10 mins to help me get my truck out so I could make it to work 40 mins away! They stayed and fixed the spring and noticed a few other troubled issues and fixed those as well! The pricing was reasonable to me! Our tech that handled our fix was very well mannered. I can’t give them enough praise.”
“From start to finish, the staff was very professional and straight foward. Garage door works like new, quotes were right on the money, felt it was a bit high, but were very happy with work done, and attention to detail. I rate it a 10 for good old fashion manners and honest work.”
“Called at 11am. Technician arrived by 11:45am and fixed all my issues very quickly and efficiently. He was very friendly and gave me good advice on maintenance to keep issues from reoccurring as well as how to quiet the door. Will use for all my garage door needs. Thanks again.”
“Service at the time of install was great. We needed new springs for our garage door. They had 1 year warranty. Our door started sticking and not raising all the way exactly 1 year and 4 days later. Had another company come out and look at it. Turns out the springs placed by OGD were for a garage door 40 lbs lighter than what we had. I called OGD to ask when our warranty was up and was told it had just passed the date. The guy on the other line couldn’t have cared less that the wrong size were installed to begin with.”
“Fast, professional...couldn't be happier. All three times I've used OGD they've been able to get to my house within 24 hrs of the call. They're not inexpensive, but they're competative. And the service matches the price.”
“The company showed up very quickly so props for that. However, it is extremely overpriced. We paid $418 for photo sensors to be replaced. I called into several other companies and I could have gotten the exact same job done for around $200. There was an extra charge of $250 that they said needed to be asseseed because they jad to do extra things like add the wiring to the motor, etc. I called other places and they jist said thats part of the $200 charge they assess. If you want to save money, do not use this company. Also, the work done seems to be well done so I dont have issues with that. Just the pricing was insanely high compared to all of the other companies I called around to after I paid. Edit: Responding to response below. The response below proves my point that I was oversold. The company made it sound like I needed to do all of those extra things to fix the photo sensors. They told me "since it costs so much we will do these extra things to sweeten the pot for you." I get home to the receipt to see the extra $250 charge for the thinga mentioned by owner below. Be sure to do a better job than I did and call other places to get a more reasonable price. I could have paid th”
“Though the job is not complete thus far the service tech has been awesome. Would like the prices to less especially for senior citizen property owners that live on small retirements and ss. A company that matters to the elderly and seniors will always be blessed by god.”
“Very good company, just use them again today to replace a broken spring on one of my overhead doors. I've been using these guys for a few years now, and they are always prompt, reasonably priced, and very professional.”
“Can’t say enough good about this place and their installer. Came out same day that I called even though it was late in the afternoon and the installer gave me an excellent price and even though it was a miserable hot humid 100 degree day the installer persevered and did a fantastic job of installation and lubricated my existing garage door. Now I don’t have to get out of my vehicle anymore to open and close my garage door. I very highly recommend this place to anyone needing any kind of garage door work. Awesome company”
“OGD was quick to respond to my need for a working garage door due to.medical problems. Their installer was professional, knowledgeable and efficient, along with nice. My husband and I are still amazed at how quiet our new garage door opener works. OGD has been our door opener company for over 54 years. Pat McEachern Quattromani”
