Spring Overhead Door
Garage Door Technician · Montgomery, TX
About
Spring Overhead Door operates out of Montgomery as a family-owned business handling garage door installation and repair for homes and commercial properties across Southeast Texas. They have provided these services for more than 29 years and act as a diamond distributor for Amarr doors. The company lists overhead door work and electric operators among its main offerings and maintains a location at 15871 TX-105 W.
Customers describe jobs that include spring replacements, panel swaps on older doors, full installations of high lift setups, and repairs that avoided full replacements. Ben and Manuel handled one repair that fixed a door customers expected to replace. Other calls covered fixing broken springs the same day they broke and sourcing panels that cost less than quotes from other outfits. Some jobs involved multiple visits to correct initial installs on high lift doors or to address gaps left during setup.
Work happens throughout Southeast Texas with mentions of same-day arrivals and responses as quick as 15 minutes on urgent calls. Reviewers note low prices paired with solid results on straightforward fixes, though others report missed appointments without notice, slow follow-up on service requests, and crews that took extra trips to finish installations. Communication varies, with some calls answered promptly and others met with delays or incomplete updates on scheduling.
Feedback splits between praise for friendly staff who know older door parts and criticism of rushed or incomplete work that left gaps or required return visits. Positive notes center on saving money and quick fixes, while repeated complaints involve install quality, attitudes during jobs, and follow-through after payment. Google shows a 3.2 rating.

What Customers Say
“Honest Review – Extremely Unprofessional Service I rarely leave reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others. This is by far the most unprofessional company I’ve ever dealt with. Dave, in particular, was incredibly difficult to work with—unreliable, rude, and completely disrespectful. They repeatedly missed scheduled service and installation appointments without any notice. When I called for updates, I was met with hostility. Dave literally yelled, refused to answer simple questions, and then hung up on me. It felt like they thought they were doing me a favor by taking my business, rather than providing a service. If you value your time, money, and sanity, I strongly suggest finding another company. My experience was not just disappointing—it was unacceptable.”
“Absolutely terrible service and not great installation quality. Excuses on why they won’t warranty their installation, service technicians who aren’t able to fix garage doors properly, and the worst communication I have seen from a company. Quick to take your money, but completely lack follow thru. I wish I had used a different company.”
“This is the 2nd time Spring Overhead door has come out to work on our garage door. Again did not disappoint. Got to us in a reasonable amount of time. Ben and Manuel did a great job repairing our door when we thought we would have. To replace it. Highly recommend Spring Ovethead Door.”
“Extremely sloppy installation. Complete lack of knowledge regarding products they are installing. It took multiple visits by three different crews before the work was halfway done. They used cardboard box material to fill the gap between the rails and the wall. Silverfish and other pests love cardboard. They could have used a better material. Most of the installers had bad attitudes. One smoked while working in my garage. Thankfully the last installer to come onsite gave it a decent shot at correctly installing the door, but I had to show him how to install some of the parts. They claimed it was a newer door type they'd never seen before. All they had to do was read the instructions that came with the door. I was told my existing door opener would work, but they never could get the door to open or close with the existing opener, so I replaced it. I've been told all an installer had to do was adjust the spring and the opener would have worked properly. I had to redo a lot of the work they should have done correctly. If I could give zero stars I would.”
“Everyone I dealt with either over the phone or in person was super friendly and very knowledgeable. I had an older door that just needed panels and they were able to save me a lot more money than any other company I called. They actually seemed to care and did everything to help me get them replaced in a timely manner! You're missing out if you choose anyone else for service.”
“Had them out multiple times to fix their install of my high lift door. They didn't leave enough clearance between the door and the garage header. They didn't properly account for the fact that the door has a window frame that protrudes from the surface a bit. The header scrapes against the surface of the door now. I should have hired someone that knows how to do high lift.”
“We have used Spring Overhead Door for many years and always had excellent service! Reliable and quick response. I recently had a spring break and problem was resolved same day. Great company!”
“They had the lowest price and did great work. A rare combination!”
“The garage door broke and couldn’t get the cars out. They were here in 15 min. Great service and price. Can’t say enough.”
“Showed up an hour late for the job. When confronted about it they just laughed. I pray that disrespecting customers time is not a part of the company culture.”
“I accompanied someone here and the staff was great”
“Avoid at all costs. Terrible service.”
