Garage Door Technician · Pittsburgh, PA
About
Spartan Garage Doors, also known as Spartan GD Services, works out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They focus on garage door repair and installation across the metro area, including Wexford, Monessen, and Cranberry TWP. The outfit takes on opener service, spring replacement, gate operator jobs, and 24/7 emergency calls for homeowners dealing with stuck or broken equipment. Folks in the region call (724) 400-0200 when doors fail to open or close properly. Pittsburgh weather and older housing stock keep them busy with rusted springs, seized tracks, and motors that quit after years of use in damp basements and detached garages.
They send techs such as David and Dave to handle specific problems on site. One job involved a door that felt ready to collapse under its own weight, and the crew sorted the issue without delay by tightening and adjusting the hardware. Another call came for a double door that had not lowered in twenty years, where the tech stayed through his dinner break, swapped parts straight from the truck, and got everything moving again. The same crew covers spring disassembly and reassembly, opener board swaps after power surges, and gate motor installs when homeowners need reliable access on sloped driveways common around the city.
Customers keep coming back because the work shows up on time, holds up after the truck leaves, and gets explained clearly before any parts get ordered. Reviews point to fast arrivals even at the end of the day, solid fixes that avoid repeat visits, and straight talk on costs without surprise markups. Those points add up across the board for speed on urgent calls, quality that lasts through winter freezes, and communication that matches what actually gets done. DIRT Score 4.73 from 150 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Tech disassembled the door spring, quoted me twice the price of industry standard, and then refused to put it back together when I said I couldn’t pay that. Pretended to call his manager to change the price or do work on the side. Very shady. Unsure if any of these other reviews are legitimate.”
“First of all, I would highly recommend Spartan Garage Door 🎖️🎖️🎖️... I had a problem with my garage door, it felt like the whole thing was going to collapse. I called them up and they fixed the issue in no time. David is really a nice and highlly skilled guy. He was able to take care of my home on short notice, diagnose and fix the issue in no time at all, which has relieved a huge chunk of stress that I was feeling. I appreciate his work!”
“My double garage door had not been lowered in 20 years. Called Spartan and he came by at the end of his workday to take a look. Dave (?) spent an hour working through his dinner break to get my door operational, replacing parts he had on his truck. He was friendly, professional and obviously knew his stuff. The price he quoted at the end of the job was more than fair. On my experience, I would recommend him highly. Dave Simpson, 40 year resident of Crafton.”
“We called Spartan for service on July 17, 2025 for a garage door opener that was not working after a nearby lighting strike. Firstly, the technician mis-diagnosed the problem, then claimed it could not be repaired (The actual problem was a fried board in the opener which I replaced myself for $150 in the end). Next, the technician noticed the torsion spring was broken, making the door hard to open manually. Fine, but he replaced it with the wrong spring, so the door was still far too heavy. We recently had Thomas V. Giel come out, who replaced the rusty old spring that Spartan installed with the two correct springs. The door now supports its weight on the torsion springs much better. Overall, I would just call Thomas V Giel next time. Spartan were unreliable, unknowledgeable and did faulty work.”
“I don't leave reviews unless I have an exceptional experience. I learned more about sensors, remotes and garage door openers in 10 minutes with David than in 26 years of home ownership. I've watched my fair share of youtube videos trying to troubleshoot the opener. My husband spent 1/2 a day on it. TBH we probably made a super simple problem worse. I am kicking myself for putting off what turned out to be a quick and simple (for David) service call for so long. I'm embarrassed to admit how many months we walked to and from the car to the wall mount to open and close the garage door. I also appreciated that David tried to troubleshoot with me over the phone to save us both time and money before coming to the house. What an easy, pleasant and affordable transaction. Don't live with a malfunctioning garage door one day longer.”
