Cross Country Mechanical
HVAC Contractor · Abilene, TX
About
Cross Country Mechanical handles heating and cooling work for homes across Jones County, Texas. Based in Anson, the crew serves the area and nearby towns including Abilene, Sweetwater, Clyde, and Tuscola. They deal with the long hot summers and cold snaps that strain equipment in West Texas houses. Homeowners reach out when air conditioners stop cooling, heaters fail, or older systems need full replacement. The team sticks to residential jobs and covers repairs, maintenance visits, duct fixes, and new installs with a focus on getting systems running right without extra complications.
Derek and Houston once spent a full day on one AC job, staying late to finish and keep the house comfortable. Shannon, the owner, steps in on warranty cases to push approvals through with companies like American Home Shield. In one Saturday emergency, the crew reached a home fast after a copper line got mowed over outside the unit and got the cooling back online the same day. Rudy handles service checks on multiple units, running inspections that stay straightforward and skip any push for unneeded parts. They also manage thermostat problems, weak airflow, water leaks, and uneven cooling across Trane systems and other brands.
Customers keep coming back because the work holds up under real use, responses come quick even on weekends, and updates stay clear from start to finish. Techs like Derek, Houston, and Rudy earn trust by showing up prepared, finishing what they start, and giving honest reports on what the equipment actually needs. That pattern shows up across jobs with warranty repairs and routine checks alike. DIRT Score 5.0 from 128 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Derek and Houston worked all day to get our AC up and running! They were pleasant and polite and stayed late to get the job done. We greatly appreciate their help and for Shannon, the owner, for checking in and working with our warranty company to get the repairs approved. We highly recommend Cross Country Mechanical for HVAC repair!”
“We had a bit of an emergency this past Saturday when my grandson accidentally mowed over the copper line on the outside AC unit. We called this company who, incidentally are the ones that Installed our unit. We were very happy that they could get to us that day and did go to some lengths to get a technician out to us and for that we were really grateful. The technician that came was great and did a fantastic job. He was here maybe a couple of hours. When we were told what the bill totaled, we had to pick ourselves up off the floor. It was $1150, the largest expense being from the refrigerant. We had to have 9 pounds of refrigerant put back in the unit and he charged $80 a pound!! This is absolutely Price gouging on the next level!! You can buy this same refrigerant for less than $15 a pound. We definitely think Shannon took advantage of us. When we questioned the price, it irritated him and he then told my husband he should have charged us more!!! I’m all for anyone making a good living, but to absolutely gouge someone like this is unacceptable especially when you claim to be a Christian company. That honestly should’ve been my first sign to not use them.(So called Christian companies r the worst, or that’s been our experience!) If you do choose to use these people, I would definitely get a price upfront and then shop around, you will most likely find it at a lesser price! What’s there to discuss?? I have no issue with a trip charge or any other charges. Our beef was that you charged $80 a pound for R-410A when even I can buy it for $11/lb!!! Highway robbery! PERIOD”
“SATISFIED CUSTOMER: I reluctantly turned in a work order (due to past experience) with American Home Shield on Wednesday (May 13th) when my AC unit went out and it was 100 degrees that day. I paid my $125 deductible and AHS said I'd be getting a call from Cross Country Mechanical in 24 hours, which I doubted, but believe it or not, I got that call. I received text messages from them announcing when Chase was on his way the next morning, and guess what? He got here exactly when they said he would. Chase came in and assessed the situation and advised the need for a new motor part and before he left the house he sent text messages to the key players to see if the part was available, and he notified his office to submit the cost estimate to AHS to expedite the process. When he left he said if they can get the approval from AHS this afternoon, which would of been yesterday, he said he would come back tonight, which would of been last night. Within 24 hours from the time I filed the claim. Approval was not received from AHS until this morning (Friday, well within 48 hrs) and I received a text advising that Chase was on his way about 2pm and within 3 hours from that time, Chase had the part installed and washed his hands before shaking mine and thanking me for my patience! Patience? A number of years ago I tried to file a claim with AHS and it took over a week to get a company to show up, and when they did, I asked them to leave due to incompetence in what they were dealing with. Clearly AHS has turned a corner and is now providing fantastic customer service, but they're only as good as their contractor doing the work, and in this case, Cross Country Mechanical did EXACTLY what they said they would do, and within 48 hours from the time I filed the claim with AHS! That is incredible service, and I will NOT forget it! Thank you AHS for contracting with a quality company like Cross Country Mechanical! Chase and Shannon (Father) were very courteous and professional and were incredible to work with! Thank you Cross Country Mechanical! I've gone from 84 to 72 degrees in 30 minutes! Thank the Lord for cool air and Cross Country Mechanical! ***** And I'm not sure why it's showing 4.9 stars! I'd give them 10 stars if it would allow for it!”
“Had a service check on both of my A/C units through American Home Shield. Rudy came out and did my inspection. He was very knowledgeable and was honest and didn't try to upsell me on anything. I felt very confident that my units were in good shape by what he was telling me. I would suggest Cross Country to others.”
“Our tech arrived early and fixed our problem quicky and no problem! Pedro Lopez, he was super friendly and professional, would highly recommend.”
