Scottco Mechanical Contractors Inc
HVAC Contractor · Amarillo, TX
About
Scottco Mechanical Contractors Inc works out of Amarillo, Texas on HVAC systems for houses and shops. The crew deals with air conditioning repairs and installations in a place where summer heat often pushes past 100 degrees and leaves folks without cool air for days. They also handle related mechanical jobs like basic plumbing fixes and electrical hookups when those come up on the same properties. Homeowners in the area call them for straightforward service on units that break down from heavy use or old age. The company sends out techs who know the local conditions and can assess what needs fixing without extra layers of hassle.
Their HVAC work covers diagnosing frozen lines, replacing parts under warranty, and getting systems running again in tough weather. One call had a tech spend fifteen to thirty minutes checking a disconnected sink from a previous owner and skip the service fee after looking it over. Another job involved quoting on wiring lights and outlets in a new shop, where the technician came across as professional and knew the details but the price landed higher than competitors. They have handled AC complaints where parts were covered but labor quotes ran steep, and crews get called for ongoing plumbing needs that require steady hands on older homes.
Customers keep coming back because the techs show up experienced and handle jobs without dragging things out, with solid marks on quality and communication when they explain the situation on site. Pricing draws notice for staying reasonable on repeat plumbing work, and speed matters when heat waves hit and units need quick attention to avoid long outages. Dependable service on common Amarillo repairs builds the track record over hundreds of jobs. DIRT Score 5 from 602 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Had Scottco come out to give me a quote for wiring up and installing lights and electrical outlets in my new built shop. The technician who came out was professional and knowledgeable. However Scottco's quote was $5k more than the other companies I have had come out and quote me and then charged me $54 dollars for a quote that was never disclosed prior to setting up the appointment. Thier materials are over priced and they charge $50 per hour more for labor than thier competitors. Guess that why they feel the need to charge for a quote.”
“We have a sink that was disconnected before we purchased a house. I knew that Scottco had been the plumber of the previous owner so I called them. Their plumber came to the house and spent at least 15-30 minutes looking at the situation. Then, rather than charging us for a setvice call, he gave an explanation of what would be needed to fix the sink and an estimated cost. He was also extremely professional, polite,”
“Scottco has become a giant scam. They wanted to charge me 2,000$ AN HOUR FOR LABOR WHEN THE 3 PARTS ARE UNDER WARRANTY. Save yourself the trouble and call Grizzle! We have been without AC in 100 degree weather for a week! First time a rude old man came out said the lines frozen and we have to wait until the next day for it to thaw.. the line thawed in an hour but whatever. Next time a really nice younger man came out said he was going to be replacing 3 parts and making the intake bigger but would have to come back. He wasn’t sure if they were the issue but they are under warranty so it would just be 84$ an hour for labor, maybe 3 hours. Today the old man showed back up. I told this old man that’s what the younger tech said and he said no it’s 2k an hour for labor. Haha leave, leave right now, I’m done with Scottco and will never trust them again. I would suggest you call literally anyone else before them. I called Grizzle and they are sending someone today to fix it so we don’t have to be without AC any longer. That old man should go home and retire, not interacting with customers. Dude was a jerk both times I met him. I’m already grumpy bc I haven’t had ac all week, maybe don’t try to clearly scam me?? Gross. UPDATE- none of the parts they wanted to replace needed to be. The other company was able to get the unit running in an hour for a little over 80$. The coil had dog hair on it and the filters I’ve been using were too restrictive. Do not trust these ppl. I didn’t have AC for a week and was almost out thousands of dollars for something that didn’t even need to be done. Will be reporting this to the BBB.”
“I've trusted Scottco with my plumbing needs for years. They are dependable, experienced, and reasonably priced.”
“Poor customer service. Needing a plumber and called to set up an appointment several days ahead for a morning and be finished by noon. I go to work at 12:30 daily. They would not accommodate me. We are a longtime customer. I will stop our annual Scotco service plan and find a plumber that can come at 8:00 or 9:00 am. Good bye Scotco…..”
