About

Hill Mechanical Services, Llc works out of Austin, Texas with a clear focus on HVAC work. They take on repairs, installations, and service calls for residential and light commercial properties in the area. Local weather puts heavy demands on cooling systems for much of the year, and the crew handles the resulting breakdowns that come with Texas heat and older ductwork. Their technicians show up for both planned maintenance and urgent fixes when units fail during peak summer months. The company keeps operations straightforward without extra layers of management slowing down the response.

Daniel Brown stands out for showing up on short notice during emergencies and knowing the systems inside and out. Other techs such as John, Mike, and Nelson have been noted for stepping in on the spot to handle immediate problems. Jobs range from full HVAC replacements to quick component swaps, though some customers report long trips for parts and extra labor hours added to the bill. Toilet installs and design fixes have also come up in feedback, with complaints about high hourly rates and slow follow-up when issues arise after the initial visit. The team bills for time on site plus travel, which leads to varied results depending on the job.

Customers often mention the politeness and technical skill of the technicians when things go right, along with fast emergency arrivals from techs like Daniel Brown. At the same time, reviews point to high costs, drawn-out timelines, and extra charges for fixes tied to the crew's own earlier work. Communication and support after the job draw the most criticism, which pulls the overall rating down despite strong individual performances. DIRT Score 3.75 from 32 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

John, Mike, and Nelson were kind enough to take time out of their day to help me jump start my car. They were super nice guys, and just wanted to give them a shout out. Thanks guys!

$1200 for a simple new toilet installation (old one was already removed). I got charged two hours for labor(actually being at the site) and 4 hours(!) for “trip to Home Depot to pick up materials (two items) on the way to the job” so basically you’ll be paying 200/h for their slow commute from the suburbs if you’re located in downtown Chicago and a relaxing even slower sightseeing tour of Home Depot while picking up 2 items also at 200/h. Property located 5 minutes away from a Home Depot. I can’t even imagine how much they’d charge for any major home renovation project.

Very polite and thoughtful on their quotes. But stops there. Very expensive. Slow response time. Nickel and dime for everything and awful support. Fixing design issues based on their own mistakes and charging for it is a joke.
