About
North Lake Heating And Cooling handles HVAC work for homes and rentals across Austin, Texas, with their base in the Jonestown area. The crew manages the heavy demands that come with Texas summers, where air conditioners run nonstop and break down under the strain. They step in for both routine service calls and sudden failures that leave places without proper cooling or heating. Local property owners rely on them to keep systems running through the worst heat waves without unnecessary delays or complications.
Chris and the team respond fast to calls about units that quit cooling, showing up in as little as thirty minutes even on weekends like Father's Day. They handle repairs on vacation rentals and regular houses alike, getting systems back online in under an hour in many cases through straightforward troubleshooting and part swaps. The same technician works with property managers who need reliable fixes for tenant issues, delivering professional results on everything from basic cooling problems to full heating system checks without dragging out the process.
Customers keep coming back because of the consistent speed on emergency jobs and clear communication about what needs fixing right away. Reviews highlight how the crew avoids long wait times and gets knowledgeable help out the door quickly, though a few note caution around recommendations for bigger replacements on newer equipment. That mix of fast action and solid outcomes adds up to the rating. DIRT Score 4.12 from 38 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Chris and the Guys at North Lake are the best! After I called him, was out in 30 mins. I had a question on my AC worried it was not cooling on FATHERS DAY Sunday and he just said "On my way" and got me fixed in 45mins! First call for my house, and a Vacation Rental. I cant say enough good things. Price is more then fair, kind, responsive, honest. Wayyy better then Lantz and their inflated everything. They came out first, sold us a power conditioner, turns out, it was a motor going out drawing power. not the $1,100 part Lantz sold us. So Chris removed that and actually fixed the real issue! Should have been the first call!”
“I had a very concerning experience with this HVAC company and their work ethics and would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to any work. He came out to inspect my system (which is only 4 years old) and immediately told me I needed a full system replacement. This was surprising given the age of the unit. When I asked for clarification, the explanations were vague and not supported by clear diagnostics. He also claimed that the evaporator coil needed replacement due to a leak—but admitted he could not find any actual signs of a leak and was simply “assuming” it was leaking internally. On top of that, he said the reversing valve was faulty and needed replacement as well. I was also charged for 3 lbs of refrigerant he claimed he put in the system on the same day. When I asked for a written quotation for his proposed major part replacement work, he became defensive and refused to provide one. Instead, he sent a vague text message as a “quote,” which was a major red flag for me—I have never seen a company unwilling to properly document a quote in writing for such an expensive work. Because something didn’t feel right, I had two other technicians come out. Both performed proper diagnostics and confirmed: * There is no leak in the system * The system is functioning properly * The issue was likely electrical, not mechanical * No refrigerant had been added to the system The second technician specifically measured the refrigerant levels and confirmed there was no indication that refrigerant had recently been added. I contacted Chris to address this and even offered for him to speak directly with the second technician who was still onsite. He declined to discuss the refrigerant issue and provided no proof that the refrigerant was ever added. Based on this experience, I was charged for work that appears not to have been performed and was wanted to replace major components—and even the entire system—without proper justification. I would strongly encourage others to seek a second opinion before proceeding with any recommendations from this company.”

“Chris came out and quickly resolved my issue. Even better, he took time to explain some options for future work that would help me avoid spending a bunch of money on equipment that would soon be outdated. He was professional, thorough, and very fair on his price. Would recommend.”
