“I am writing to formally document my concerns regarding the apartment unit and leasing process managed by Sandalwood in Del Valle TX. Prior to signing the lease and paying the deposit, I was not given the opportunity to view the actual unit. I was informed that I would be able to do so afterward, and I relied on that representation when proceeding. However, upon first entry, I encountered a strong and persistent odor that raised concerns about possible mold, as well as overall moisture and air quality within the unit. I subsequently requested a qualified inspection to determine whether the unit is safe for occupancy, but this request has not been accommodated. The proposed moisture-only check does not sufficiently address my concerns regarding potential mold or broader air quality issues. During the walkthrough, I also observed additional problems, including visible exterior cracks, doors that close on their own, and a lack of proper cleaning prior to move-in (including cobwebs in the utility area and bedroom). Additionally, I was informed by a staff member that security deposits are not typically returned to tenants. This is concerning and appears to be consistent with statements made in prior tenant reviews. Given these issues, I respectfully request that these concerns be addressed promptly and that appropriate steps be taken to ensure the unit is safe, habitable, and in acceptable condition.”
