About

Sheldon's A/C & Heat works out of Austin, Texas handling HVAC jobs for homeowners across the area. The city sees long stretches of brutal summer heat that push air conditioning systems hard and create constant demand for repairs and replacements when units break down under the load. Common calls involve checking equipment flagged during home inspections or sorting out problems in newly purchased houses where previous owners let maintenance slide. They focus on getting systems back online fast so families avoid the worst of the Texas heat without paying for unnecessary upsells or delays that other outfits drag out.

Corey steps in on new construction or resale homes where the AC units show issues on inspection reports and provides a quote at no charge after other companies demand hundreds just to show up. Santos walks through each step of the work in plain terms while keeping the site organized even on bigger jobs like swapping out old equipment for new units that fit the home better. They handle diagnostic calls on systems that stop cooling in the middle of summer and deliver estimates quicker than competitors while staying competitive on price for the actual repair or installation work. One review noted they accepted a diagnostic appointment then had to cancel last minute due to other emergencies but most jobs move forward without that hiccup.

Homeowners keep coming back because the crew shows up on time with clear explanations and prices that beat the other bids received on the same job. Speed stands out with fast quotes and turnaround that avoids the long waits common in Austin during peak months while quality shows in the clean installs and working systems that hold up after the crew leaves. Communication gets consistent mentions for keeping things straightforward without confusion on costs or timelines. DIRT Score 4.92 from 60 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

I am beyond impressed with Alpine. They were the fastest turnaround by far on getting me an estimate, and their estimate was by far the best deal of the three I got. Santos made absolutely sure I understood what was happening at each stage, and went out of the way to keep things organized for an insurance assessor to review. After he left I was reading the manual for my new thermostats and saw that they had compressor protection as a setting, but the default value was off. I went to turn that on and turns out he had already turned it on for me. Given that Alpine didn't install my original system and has no obligation or warranty to incentivize them to keep it working well, that attention to detail is just pure integrity. I'm going to have them back out for additional work that I had been considering doing myself. edit: Oof. So I had Alpine back out for spring maintenance and three weeks later I noticed a bunch of water damage along the ceiling. Turns out the drain line was disconnected from the evap coil, so it was just dumping water into the attic and it finally built up enough to spill off and hit the drywall. So one really good experience, and one really bad experience.

We bought a new home and the AC units were flagged in the inspection report. After calling about a half a dozen companies that wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars just to look at my units, I found Alpine. Corey was incredibly helpful and was able to quickly get me a quote without charge. As soon as we closed, they came out and assessed the job, ordered the equipment and had it installed before we moved in. They were friendly, helpful, professional and very competitive in pricing. The technicians that came to our house were amazing and communicated well as they worked through some issues that came up. After all was said and done, they invoiced us for exactly what was quoted. It was a great experience and we couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend Alpine to anyone looking to have a new ac installed.

Alpine accepted an appointment to do a diagnostics work and backed out last minute. I understand that my appointment is not important compared to others who need their AC working again in the middle of a sweltering summer. I also understand that things happen in general and appointments need to be rescheduled, but my tenant had to pay to board her dogs, arrange her work schedule to accommodate the appointment and in the end to hear Alpine said they’re not interested in doing the diagnostics work. They could have called me much earlier as the appointment was made almost a week in advance. It is their choice what work they’re willing to engage in, but it’s highly regrettable, unprofessional and inconsiderate for the Service Manager to cancel an appointment during the window that they have committed to and went on and on about how bad everything is for them, without one care that on my side we have actually incurred time and money to keep the appointment.

Slightly regrettably, I bought a fantastic unit from Alpine Heating & Air shortly before deciding to move. So I didn’t get to appreciate the unit for very long. But, I will 100% call Alpine when my new-to-me-house needs AC work. They were quick to provide a quote, were reasonably priced, switched out the system expediently while making sure to protect my carpets, and when the home inspectors noted an issue during the sale inspection, Alpine gave the unit a once over without charging me, as they stood by their product and installation. (The issue was the inspector running the AC when temperatures were below freezing). I only wish I could have brought that AC with me.

Alpine HVAC provided us with a cost-effective HVAC replacement of our 22-year-old system (second floor attic location) and an upgrade to a Carrier 3-ton 2-stage R-454 system. Corey provided a quote on the same day it was requested, including an on-site inspection to verify the quote. The installation team of Ruben and Javier were efficient, no damage to stairs or flooring, and responsive to any questions we had on the system operation and new WiFi thermostat. They finished the removal of the old system and installed the new components in less than 7 hours. They also swept and cleaned up after the install. Alpine’s owner, Cliff, was the first person on site that morning and checked on the progress at about 50 % completion. I highly recommend this locally owned company and their employees.
