“I called Chavis Air when my AC stopped cooling. They responded quickly and diagnosed the issue as a condenser fan problem. The owner quoted me approximately $600 for the repair, and I agreed to move forward based on that quote. After the work was completed, the final invoice was $970.11($1050.14 with tax), which was significantly higher than the quoted amount. The additional charges included the diagnostic fee, a capacitor, and chemical condenser cleaning, none of which were discussed with me or approved before the work was performed. I was also not given the option to approve the use of an aftermarket fan. The replacement fan installed was not the correct fan for my unit, required an additional capacitor, and was installed upside down. These details were not communicated to me before the work was completed. The owner never came inside my home, and no supply vs. return temperature test was performed after the repair to verify the system was operating properly. Although the AC was running afterward, I had concerns about the installation and the lack of communication regarding the changes made and additional charges. When I contacted the owner to discuss my concerns, the conversation was disappointing. Instead of addressing my questions, he became confrontational and stated he would come back and remove the work that had been done. I appreciate that they came out quickly and restored my AC, but the lack of upfront communication, approval of added costs, and handling of my concerns were not acceptable. Based on my experience, I would not use this company again. I am including photos of the repair invoice and repaired outside unit for reference.”
