Ami Services
HVAC Contractor · Comal County, TX
About
AMI Services works out of New Braunfels right in Comal County, Texas. They handle HVAC jobs for houses and businesses across the county and nearby spots like Canyon Lake and Seguin. The outfit sends crews to fix broken air conditioners and heating systems when the Texas weather turns rough. Their license covers the standard repair and replacement work that keeps units running through long summers and occasional cold snaps. Homeowners in the area call them for straightforward service on residential and light commercial equipment without extra layers of office talk.
Crews show up to handle air conditioner repairs like the one Georgia Gordon needed on her unit along with a shower fix. They work on diagnosis visits that start around one hundred forty nine dollars before any parts or labor. One technician named Glenn Downey has been mentioned in past jobs. Calls get returned for quotes on heating problems and replacements. Some visits finish with clear explanations from the techs while others end with customers feeling the office side drops the ball on follow through. The same teams cover both quick fixes and bigger unit swaps in homes spread across Comal County.
Reviews split on how fast crews finish jobs and whether the quality holds up once they leave. Some customers note polite techs who avoid extra travel fees out to the East Mountains and give straight answers on what broke. Others point to incomplete work and poor communication from both field guys and the office when problems linger. Price questions come up often around diagnostic fees that do not roll into the final bill. DIRT Score 2.83 from 13 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“I have had AMI out to repair both my shower and my air conditioner. Both repairs were done in a professional and timely manner. The technicians were friendly, polite and very informative. I live in the East Mountains and they did not gouge me for travel charges. AMI is now my go to company for all my repairs.”
“Terrible service, lousy work done by incompetent technicians, one of which is Glenn Downey. There is no accountability whatsoever, and that includes the lady in the office. I do not recommend you to anyone!! I have been telling everyone to go to a place where the employees know what they are doing. Sadly. AMI does not! Frustrated indeed, John L.”
“Received a call back and was quoted $149 just to diagnose and it does not apply to the bill. I said, wow that's a little expense compared to..... I then could not finish my sentence because she hung up on me. I DO NOT RECOMMEND, FYI I HAD GOOD EXPERIANCE WITH TLC, I DO RECOMMEND THEM, SPECIALLY SINCE THEY ARE ONLY $89 TO DIAGNOSE.”
“AMI Mechanical is the first of 4 plumbers to understand what my plumbing issues are, and the first to treat me kindly and promptly. They will be my preferred in the future.”
“Update: They contacted me and refunded my 75.00 service fee. I still would not use them personally, but they did correct the money issue. By the way? I’m still alive and still using the supposedly unrepairable furnace. EDIT: AMI says they contacted me immediately after this review. That is incorrect. I placed this review in March 2019 and they contacted me in June 2019. I would be happy to contact them, but the fact that they lied outright in their response to this review (see their response below) makes me very hesitant to contact them. This is NOT a malicious review. It is a factual review. My husband heard the conversation as it was on speaker phone. I will reach out to david@ to see what they want to do. To anyone in the Albuquerque or Rio Rancho NM area: Avoid Ashcraft Mechanical at all costs. I called in a non-working furnace on Wednesday 2/28 to my home warranty. Called Ashcraft the next day. Told that the woman who knew how to pull warranty requests was out for the day. RED FLAG #1. There only one person who knows how to do that? Technician came over. He immediately told me that home warranty was always a problem and rarely said yes. RED FLAG #2. Why was he so anti-home warranty? He looked at the unit. Moved the thermostat back & forth. Furnace never clicked on. He said gas solenoid was bad. I never claimed to be an HVAC tech so good. Furnace bad. He told me on Fri noon that he couldn't turn it into HWA until Mon. It wasn't turned in until Wed. RED FLAG #3. Why did it take so long? He already said the furnace was no longer made but he was going to look up parts? And it took him until Wednesday afternoon to do that? And I had to call them three times? They call me to tell me that HWA (Home Warranty of America) has refused the bid. I got mad at HWA and called them. Only to be told that Ashcraft had turned in a bid that included 20 hours of labor. Ashcraft's Ronnie (the supervisor I spoke with) told me the price they quoted was 2200 (give or take a bit.). RED FLAG #4 The tech REFUSED to give me his quote via voice mail or email. As in didn't want to be able to be proven a liar. So HWA sent out another company (whom I will be also reviewing glowingly.) That tech LIT THE PILOT LIGHT. That's right, he lit the pilot light. The supposedly bad gas solenoid pushed gas right through and the heater came on. I am now sitting in a warm home after 10 days of being cold. 10 days. So I called Ronnie at Ashcraft who told me he was there with the tech. I could hear the tech in the background saying, "It's a magic chef. I didn't want to work on it." I told Ronnie that he never even tried to light the pilot light. His tech responded "It's a magic chef." So basically, the Ashcraft tech did not do his job. Ashcraft refused to refund my $75 service fee. And on top of that? Ronnie from Ashcraft told me, "If that guy is wrong," referring to the tech from the other company, "you will die." Avoid!”
