What Customers Say
“I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience with Arctic Breeze so other homeowners can make informed decisions. Prior to this incident, Arctic Breeze was on my real estate vendor recommendation list, and I personally carried one of their service plans. Unfortunately, that has changed. The issue started when I accidentally nicked some low-voltage thermostat wires with a weed trimmer. After noticing my air conditioning was no longer working, I called Arctic Breeze for service. Even with a service plan, I was charged the full $129 service call fee. The technician arrived, spent about five minutes diagnosing the problem, and told me that all of the low-voltage wiring was shorted and that the only solution was to run a new wire from the air handler to the outdoor condenser. I was quoted $875 and told there was no way the system would work without replacing the wire. My father, who spent more than 40 years working with low-voltage wiring for BellSouth, and I had a hard time believing that diagnosis. We disconnected the wire at both ends and tested it ourselves. The wire tested perfectly fine with no shorts. I contacted Arctic Breeze and explained our findings. Rather than discussing the issue professionally, one of their employees responded by saying, “If you know so much about it, why don’t you fix it yourself?” That was disappointing and completely unprofessional. Wanting a second opinion, I called another HVAC company. Their technician properly diagnosed the problem and found that the system was simply low on refrigerant. After adding refrigerant, the air conditioner worked normally. No wiring was replaced. No wiring was repaired. The $875 repair that Arctic Breeze said was absolutely necessary turned out to be unnecessary. After the system was repaired, I contacted Arctic Breeze and provided the invoice from the second company showing that no wire replacement or repair had been performed. Despite that, I was told their technician’s diagnosis was correct and that I would not receive any refund. I later spoke with the owner, who stood behind the diagnosis and explained that it was company policy to replace any wire that had been exposed or potentially shorted. The problem is that their technician didn’t simply recommend replacing the wire as a precaution. He specifically stated that the system would not work unless I spent $875 to replace it. The fact is that the system is now operating properly without any wire replacement at all. Thankfully, my father and I had enough experience to question the diagnosis and seek a second opinion. Many homeowners may not have that advantage and could have approved an expensive repair that wasn’t needed. Based on my experience, I can no longer recommend Arctic Breeze. If they recommend a major repair, I strongly encourage you to get a second opinion before moving forward.”
