“Just finished my first year here. It’s been a very positive experience thus far, with some exceptions. As a person with mobility issues, I was put in a dorm with no elevators. This was fine my first semester (if I wanted to change I’d have to be placed with someone randomly and my roommate couldn’t join me) but my second semester I had ankle surgery and had to come back from winter break a month late. Despite multiple attempts to get help from the university I was ignored by everyone but the ODA (incredible staff!) Additionally, the university is slowly going downhill. With the actions of President Keller, the millions of dollars going to the brand new sports center despite them cutting dozens of programs and merging even more majors, and some of the new AI policies that are rumored to be discussed at the moment, I am worried for the future of this school and my education here.”

“UNT is beginning to censor their students, censor their art, limiting the rights of students to express themselves in a PUBLIC university. I had such a positive view of the university and now my view has changed. A public university that built itself in the free expression of the arts, literary works, and so on and yet here we are. So so disappointing.”

“Back during Covid, normal Tuesday/Thursday classes were limited to once a week. So naturally I happened to sign up for 2 classes at 10:00am on each of those days. My professor for the Tuesday class then unilaterally decided to make her class back into a Tuesday/Thursday class by making attendance mandatory remotely on Thursday- initially this was presented as an optional, as the material had to do with court cases, and much of the discussion somewhat organic, and could be beneficial. This obviously created a conflict in my schedule - the kicker is that I was not made aware of this until after the sign up deadline had passed. Now being forced to drop the class, and unable to sign up for a replacement, I lost my grant requiring full time attendance for both this and every semester afterwords. So now, even years later I have a wonderful student loan that was completely avoidable if anyone at the university had communicated, or just enforced the class descriptions provided by the university.”
