HVAC Contractor · El Paso, TX
About
First Degree Refrigeration LLC operates as an HVAC outfit right in El Paso, Texas. They focus on keeping homes and businesses comfortable through the desert heat and occasional cold snaps that hit the region hard. The company handles everything from basic system checks to full equipment swaps, serving local customers who need reliable cooling and heating without the runaround. Their work covers areas like 79901 and 79905, where older units often struggle with dust and extreme temperatures that wear things down fast. Homeowners in El Paso know the drill with failing air conditioners during summer peaks, and this crew steps in for those exact problems.
They perform repairs on broken units, install new heating and air conditioning setups for commercial spots, and run routine service calls that catch issues early. One technician named Rene handled a call where the AC went out before summer even hit, explained the problem clearly, and adjusted the vents to stop one room from overheating while the rest stayed cool. Other jobs include thorough troubleshooting on existing systems and replacing entire brand-name setups in business buildings after a referral came through. Customers note the crews show up ready to work on indoor air quality tweaks or smart controls when needed, sticking to straightforward fixes instead of pushing extras. The approach keeps things moving on service calls without dragging out the process.
Reviews show steady praise for quick arrivals on repair requests, solid diagnostic work that solves the actual issue, and reasonable rates on maintenance visits that feel complete. Technicians come across as straightforward and careful on site, which helps when explaining vent adjustments or system replacements. A few notes point to lapses like distracted driving that led to complaints, pulling the average down across the full set of feedback. That mix of strong technical results and occasional service hiccups shapes the overall rating. DIRT Score 3.56 from 18 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“I had a great experience with this company. My AC gave out first week of the summer. I had multiple companies come out for quotes. Daniel Perez helped me he was amazing. He went through several options with me, followed up as promised, even showed up on installation day just to check in. He’s awesome and deserves a raise. Brian and Omar the techs who installed my unit were very professional and polite, they worked all day in a hot house and were extremely nice and did clean work. Great attention to detail. And their office person Lola is very sweet and accommodating. I highly recommend. I’ll be a life long customer after this experience and refer everyone I know.”
“I moved to a different home and it had an old swamp cooler.i called scotts company because I've dealt with them 5 yrs ago in the other house and always had good customer service especially by Christian. The owner scott personally came over and inspected what my house needed.he was not a salesman,he was a knowledgeable man who knew his stuff.he also told me his company has a 10 yr warranty on labor which most companies don't have and that could run into a lot of money.you get what you buy.i also noticed this time the response to any question or need was fast cause he got Lola a secretary who bends over backward make sure the customer gets the appointment he needs..he also has two managers Christian and David who keeps the communication going to scott to expedite the job.scott sent his crew out and within two days the job was done but the crew found that the old swamp cooler had damaged all the ductwork from leaks caused by the old a.c. scott cut me a deal on the duckwork since I was a long time customer in the other house and in no time I had a new refrigerated lennox a.c. with all new ductwork. The job was clean fast thanks the knowledgeable crew he sent.My opinion..scott is the best company and you know the equipment is the best and the installation is done clean and correct. You can't go wrong with them and again they back their work with the 10 yr warranty. Thank you scott.im a happy camper!!”
“I am writing this review on behalf of my son, who has had an extremely disappointing experience with Scott Heating and Cooling. From the beginning, the company presented themselves as professional and trustworthy, promising a high-quality system and reliable service. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience at all. My son purchased a system for $18,000, and it has never functioned properly since. 2.5 years ago! Currently, half of his home is not cooling at all, which is especially concerning given that he has dogs in the home and a fiancé with a medical condition that makes reliable cooling essential. This situation has created unnecessary stress and worry for their household. Instead of resolving the problem, we have been met with poor communication and a lack of accountability. Scott himself was rude during a conversation and even hung up on my son, which is completely unacceptable—especially when dealing with a customer who made such a significant investment. We were also promised a return call from the General Manager, Daniel, which never happened. That level of follow-through is simply not there. Now, after all of this, they have involved a “diamond dealer" which Scott is not! This has been an incredibly frustrating and stressful situation for a hardworking young person who trusted this company. Based on our experience, there has been no sense of responsibility or commitment to making things right. I strongly recommend that others look elsewhere for heating and cooling services. Our experience has been nothing short of awful.”
“Over 2½ years ago, we purchased a top-of-the-line HVAC system from Scott’s Heating and Cooling. Since installation, one room in our house has never heated or cooled properly. We have had this company out many times. Multiple technicians openly admitted they had never worked on this unit before and had to call others in. Every technician including a lead tech consistently said the same thing: “The airflow isn’t reaching that room.” Ductwork was adjusted at one point, which helped slightly, but the issue was never resolved. At no time during these years did anyone blame insulation or mention an attic tent. After years of frustration, we requested the owner come out. Within minutes of scanning the attic, he suddenly claimed the problem was our house and insulation, directly contradicting what his own technicians had been saying for years. When we asked why this diagnosis took 2½ years, the conversation became confrontational. We were laughed at, told we weren’t “getting into his wallet,” and the visit ended abruptly. We never asked for free work. We asked for: • A system that works as sold in all rooms, or • Fair compensation for the square footage that does not benefit from the system Since that visit, we have repeatedly requested copies of our invoices and service records. Despite being told we would receive them, the office has refused to provide documentation and continues to delay with promises that are never fulfilled. If the company has been consistent and transparent, providing records should not be an issue. This experience has been incredibly disappointing, especially given the amount of money spent and the time invested trying to resolve a problem that still exists. Proceed with caution.”
“A little back story going into this review. I had been looking into converting from evaporative to refrigerated cooling for close to 2 years. I had received quotes from many different companies, but never felt confident with them based on a plethora of different reasons. I stumbled upon Scott's and decided to contact them after thoroughly reading reviews and checking their website. Scott came out and his knowledge and experience was immediately evident. He thoroughly explained his recommendations based out our home's layout and provided 2 quotes later that day. The decision was made and the crew was ready to work 2 days later. The install was smooth and completed in a day. This included removal of the previous heater and evap cooler, fully cleaning the duct system, replcaing every register, and fully relocating the down vent for better air flow as well as sealing the old location. Once the installation was complete, the crew adjusted every register to make sure that the airflow was evenly distributed around the entire home. A little clean up and the job was complete. Since the install, they have called a few times to see how everything is and to let them know if something comes up. This is a company that takes pride in it's work and will go above and beyond to make sure everything is done right and to the customer's satisfaction. If you're on the fence like I was, give Scott's a try. I think you'll be happy with the results.”
