Compass Air
HVAC Contractor · Fort Worth, TX
About
Compass Air handles HVAC work for homes around Houston where the heat and humidity put constant strain on cooling systems. They operate as a Trane dealer focused on full system replacements and ongoing service calls. The crew deals with air conditioners, furnaces, and packaged units that homeowners need when the old equipment quits during peak summer months. Owner Mike takes direct calls to set up visits and quotes after customers compare several bids. Their work centers on installing reliable equipment that holds up in the local climate without extra frills or upsells.
Technicians put in new Trane AC units and follow up yearly to clear drain lines so the systems stay dry and efficient. They also swap out both air conditioners on a single property after a homeowner called around for prices. Furnace installs come with the same process, though customers note they must register Champion or York gear themselves to lock in the full ten-year parts and two-year labor coverage since the paperwork from the shop does not always cover it. One Trane XR basic system went in without major hiccups on the mechanical side, and the team shows up for the routine maintenance that keeps condensate lines open and running right.
Most homeowners point to solid quality on the installs and fair pricing after shopping multiple outfits, with quick responses when Mike lines up the first appointment. Speed shows in how fast they get units running again, and communication lands well when the owner stays involved on the front end. A few jobs hit snags on warranty registration and phone manners, but the bulk of feedback highlights dependable repairs and clean finishes that keep systems working through Houston summers. What Customers Say
“They installed my Trane AC unit and come out once a year to clear the drain line so it runs well. I can highly recommend them.”
“Be sure when you get a new A/C and furnace from Compass to register it yourself , especially if Champion/York equipment. The receipt Compass gives us 5/19/2020 says 10 year parts and 2 year labor warrantee. But you have no warranties unless it is registered. They don’t tell you that they do not register the work that they do. the receipt implies that the warrantee is in effect. champion gives 90 days for the equipment to be registered. We do not get our Service from Compass.”
“**Review after installing a Trane HVAC : - I should have read former reviews from Yelp/Google and picked up the red flags about the rude and disrespectful behavior of the guy picking up calls. Although the initial installation of Trane XR basic HVAC system by Compass Air went ok, my experience quickly soured. After just 4 months, the air conditioner stopped working, and despite reaching out to Compass Air for assistance, I received no response. I had to call a local HVAC technician to resolve the issue. Then, after 7 months, it broke again. This time, in winter, The furnace does not start. I again had to call my local technician to diagnose the furnace. He said the system installed was defective and he will charge additional if he were to fix. He advised me to reach out to the dealer who installed it. It turned out the installed furnace wasn't even tested while it was installed in Summer. I don't blame them for defective unit installation, part of the blame applies to me as well, I did not bother testing furnace after installation in summer trusting the installer, neither did I research about the company more. New system has failed 2 times in less than a year. It is still not working. At this point, I no longer trust Compass Air to provide reliable service let alone respond to service calls. The experience has soured, and it seems like once the HVAC system is installed, you are on your own. There was no quality control let alone any followups after installation. I wasted my 10,200$ for the defective Trane XR Hvac unit. At this point all I have is regrets because I rejected multiple lower quotes for new hvac installation considering situation like this but my fear transpired quickly into reality. I had observed red flags with this company, not picking up calls, rude disrespectful guy picking up call, no follow ups, no quality control after installation, not replying to voice message, texts but I ignored all, now all I have is regrets. They claim one year of service after installation but good luck if they reply back if at all fix the issue. I am stuck with the broken furnace the very first time I turned it ON in winter. I reached out to Trane directly if they can help me with the defective Unit, but Trane did not offer any help and advised me to reach out to dealer. If anyone is considering installing an HVAC system with Compass Air, I would advise caution based on my experience. The installation of my unit was problematic, as it turned out to be defective. This issue caused delays and additional frustration, and resolving it is becoming nightmare. I suggest thoroughly researching their customer service, paying attention to calls, pay attention "if the guy who picks up call is rude & disrespectful or not" and support options before moving forward, as issues with installation can sometimes be more complex than expected. Also check reviews and potentially get a second opinion on the equipment before committing to any HVAC installation. The person who picks up calls is extremely disrespectful and rude, I wasn't even allowed to explain the situation and within a minute he threatened to hang up call the reason was because mid winter i called Trane for help because they did not pick up my call. “We needed to get both of our air conditioners replaced and if possible I wanted to support a local business. I called six different companies to get prices so I could make a qualified decision. I called to make an appointment and Mike, the owner, answered and set up an appointment for me to meet with Drew. After I had gotten all my quotes I decided to go with Compass Air for several reasons. This was the only company that provided me with a comprehensive and detailed quote telling me exactly what was included. There was no high pressure sales pitch and they were the only company that gave an option for a lower price if you paid in full at the time of purchase. From start to finish I have never been more pleased and impressed with a company! The crew that came out for the installation was polite, prompt, hard working and so effective at teamwork that I wasn’t surprised by how quickly everything was done! When they were finished with the install we did a walk through and everything was explained to my satisfaction. My air conditioning units are performing wonderfully and I’m looking forward to seeing how much lower my bills will become in the future. I highly recommend Mike’s company and everyone involved with him, you can tell they all take a lot of pride in what they do and it shows in every aspect of the company!”
“Look no further. Compass Air can be trusted to be honest, fair in pricing and committed to customer satisfaction. Special hats off to our service technician today “Sam”. He went above and beyond what was expected of him and the company to insure our AC system was repaired on the hottest day of the year so far. Thanks to the entire company for a job well done!”
