About
Fox Mechanical Air Services Llc handles HVAC work out of Weatherford, Texas, focusing on residential air conditioning and heating systems. The company takes service calls through a direct line and works on installs, replacements, and repairs for homeowners dealing with Texas heat and cold snaps. Background details show they handle full system jobs including new units and duct adjustments, with staff like office contact Briana and field lead Mr. Fox handling day-to-day interactions. They keep operations straightforward without heavy online listings, so most customers reach them by phone to line up visits for equipment that stopped performing right.
They put in complete a/c and heat systems along with ductwork swaps on older uninsulated metal lines that let temperature swing too much. One job replaced an entire setup with a new 4-ton 16 seer Trane unit that took four hours start to finish, including teardown of the old equipment and cleanup afterward. Technicians diagnose problems like houses running ten degrees off the thermostat setting, then fix the install or add insulation to get airflow back where it belongs. Customers note they show up for service requests on short notice and quote prices that stay competitive for the DFW area without extra markups on basic repairs or full replacements.
Homeowners keep coming back because the crew moves fast on calls, keeps costs in line with what was promised, and explains issues without runaround. Reviews highlight solid communication from the office staff and field team, plus reliable work that holds up after the job wraps. Price fairness and honest diagnostics stand out across the feedback, especially when systems need quick fixes before a sale or during peak summer loads. DIRT Score 4.25 from 84 reviews on Finds.

“I had a complete a/c and heat system put in the end of June 2024. Paid cash. It hasn’t really cooled right since then. I called them last year and they gave a lot of excuses but nothing changed. I got used to my a/c not fully cooling. Fast forward to last week… selling my house, and with prospective buyers touring, I noticed water on my carpet (and so did they). I called Fox last Friday and didn’t hear back till Monday, my carpet getting progressively more soggy. Monday they gave us some things to try to fix it on our own but nothing worked. We called again. They finally got a service tech out Thursday. He was there about 30 min, changed the filter (which was changed a week earlier), charged us a service call (which they discounted after I reminded them when we bought the unit), said all was well and left. Within 30 minutes, there was more water on the floor than there had been the whole time prior. I videoed it and texted it to them…. No response. I sent a picture later, no response. I’ve texted and/or called about 5 times Thursday afternoon and Friday. I cannot get any answers at all. My entire hallway is like a swamp now. I get water in my shoes when I walk through it. I’m frustrated and tired of no one returning my messages and calls. I do not recommend Fox Mechanical.”
“DO NOT USE THIS SHADY COMPANY! We had an entire HVAC system install done in August 2020 and ductwork replacement done shortly afterwards because it was all uninsulated metal piping. After the HVAC was installed, our house was 10-11 degrees hotter than the temp setting, which is why we then had the ductwork replaced at the advice of the technician when we called them back out. The ductwork replacement helped, but the house was still about 4-5 degrees hotter than the thermostat, but we just dealt with it. Then this summer (2021), again our house goes back to being 10-12 degrees hotter, so my husband goes into the attic and discovers the terrible job done with the ductwork. There was air leaking pretty bad from connections to the plenum box and at the connections to the register boots, and there were kinked duct lines. They left exposed metal between 6 -12 inches instead of pulling the new insulated ducting all the way to the register boot. Also, the reducers to the plenum box were oversized and not sealed with mastic, which is where a lot of the air leakage was coming from. The most appalling show of how shady they are was the oversized connection at the plenum box which they "sealed" with tape instead of using a proper reducer (see picture). They had also left a lot of trash in the attic from the ductwork replacement the previous summer (see picture). My husband took pictures and called to have them come out and fix these issues, which was an ordeal in itself trying to actually speak to someone. The customer service woman texted my husband to call WAYNE FOX. We both spoke to him in a three way call, and in that call he told us the pictures looked fine to him and that leaks in the system were normal. He blamed all of our issues on our improperly insulated attic, which I will admit was a part of the issue, but he said it was the total problem, which was a lie. After a lot of back and forth with him on the phone, he finally agreed to send a technician out to correct the issues. When the tech came, he was not prepared to correct the mistakes because Wayne Fox had lied to tech and told him to address one issue instead of them all. The tech did what he could with what he had, and didn't even do a good job with sealing the leaks at the plenum. He used mastic but only did the easily accessible parts and did not seal underneath one of the connections. My husband spent 4 hours in the attic the following weekend correcting mistakes from the previous tech that was sent to fix the issues. With Wayne Fox being so adamant about the soul issue being the insulation (or lack there of), we spent $4,000 getting new insulation installed. We paid an extra $150 TO THE INSULATION INSTALLERS to finish sealing the connections at the plenum, which they were the ones who informed us of the improper reducers used at the plenum and highly suggested we get Fox back out to fix those issues as well. So we did. The same tech was sent again, and again he had been mislead by Wayne Fox and did not have the proper parts to correct the issues. Thankfully he took the time to go buy the parts and fixed the issues at the plenum box connections. When he was doing that, another appalling discovery was made. The techs from 2020 had taped a metal pipe to the register boot when they changed the ducting. As the technician was fixing the connection to the plenum box, the tape came loose and disconnected from the register boot (see picture). My husband called the tech after he had left, which he came back 3 hours later, but my husband had already fixed most of the problem by the time the tech returned. After all of this, our house was still 5 degrees hotter than the temp setting, and then our system stopped blowing cool air and went back to being 10-12 degrees hotter again! We called another company to come out, and the tech discovered the evaporator was frozen (see picture) because the Freon was too low. We spent another $400, but FINALLY, our system is fixed and working right. We will NEVER use FOX MECHANICAL again, and neither should anyone who reads this!”
“I just installed a Brand New 4-Ton 16 Seer Trane System for an amazing price, they can not be beaten for price and professionalism in the DFW area. The entire process lasted just 4 hours, from 8:30am to 12pm, disassembly of the old units and installation of the new units. They even cleaned up the attic insulation on the floor and hauled off the old AC and Furnace. Highly Recommended! I'm glad I chose Fox Mechanical over the others, such an amazing hassle free experience. Thank you from the residence of Birchwood!”
“We purchased an air conditioner from Fox Mechanical telling us we had a 10 year warranty would not have to pay any more money if we have a problem with the AC or heat when we did have a problem several years ago they said oh well that’s been changed now you have to pay us service fee And we had to pay an ungodly amount then recently we had our house inspected as we are getting ready to sell it. The inspector wrote up that we do not have a P trap on our condensate drain line so I called Fox Mechanical to see if it was standard to install a P-trap on a on an air conditioner that they installed. He said if it’s gas, it does not need it when I tried to ask him why he hung up on me and they will not answer my calls. He also told me to Google it when I googled it. It states that even if you have Gas heat, you need a P-trap on The condensate drain line. I have tried to call them back several times and left a message saying it was very rude for him to hang up when I was only trying to ask why it was not necessary with gas heat. Terrible company would not recommend even if they give you a great price the word does not mean anything”
“I am working with a collection agency that Fox Mechanical hired to help them collect payment from a customer who did not pay for the work done. We started demanding money, went to the customer’s house, called family, friends, and even neighbors. We were promised payment from this customer, followed by broken promises. After several months of us pushing, this customer finally paid Fox directly. Once the customer informed us that they paid our client Fox Mechanical, we reached out, and Lyn Fox confirmed they received the payment. Now Gary, Wayne, and Lyn Fox are refusing to pay our fees for all the work we have done. BE AWARE OF THESE GUYS! STRAIGHT UP CROOKS! Please understand we are coming for our money.”
