Jaime J Castro
HVAC Contractor · Fort Worth, TX
About
Jaime J Castro operates as an HVAC contractor out of Brownsville, Texas. The business focuses on air conditioning work in a region where extreme summer heat puts heavy demands on home cooling systems. Records show a state license on file under number 141385 for A/C Contractor, though that license carries an expiration date of July 8, 2026. The profile remains unclaimed with limited verification on insurance and other details, which places the operation in a lower visibility tier compared to other HVAC outfits in the same area. Homeowners in Brownsville often deal with frequent system strain from high temperatures and humidity, making reliable local contractors important for keeping units running through peak months.
Castro handles typical HVAC calls such as system diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance visits. One customer named Kelli Barnes reached out after a health issue tied to indoor conditions and noted a prompt callback plus a scheduled appointment that went smoothly on the first try. Other homeowners reported longer waits once on site, with one arriving at the listed time only to sit past the slot while the technician arrived later. Patricia Grundler and Angie Lindberg mentioned higher costs than expected for the work performed along with limited options for payment records. Sleven Kelevra described arriving for an early slot and watching time pass without the contractor appearing until well after the appointment window.
Customers have given mixed marks on how quickly jobs get handled and how clearly prices get explained upfront. Some noted decent outcomes on the initial service stop while others flagged delays in the technician reaching the property and extra time spent in the home once work started. Price feedback often centered on totals that felt elevated for the scope completed, and communication drew comments about staff responses during scheduling. These patterns across the full set of reviews produce the current standing. DIRT Score 3.25 from 47 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Was hesitant at first because of the bad reviews, but I had a very positive first visit yesterday. I was referred to Dr. Castro from my family doctor after an ER visit related to my illness. Dr. Castro’s office called me within a few days and I got an appointment for the following week. I was specifically informed on the initial call and the subsequent confirmation call that self-pay patients require cash only payments, and I was informed of the amount beforehand. I had no issues with the staff, they were all very polite and helpful. My appointment was at 2:30, I was called back at approximately 2:40 and spent nearly an hour with the doctor. Dr.Castro was attentive and knowledgeable and very informative/transparent. I never felt rushed or judged. He asked lot of questions face-to-face and took written notes. I like that he seems to be “old school”. He knew exactly what I was experiencing and set in motion a game plan to help. My only issues were minor. There were a few times when I could not quite understand him because of his accent, but he was very patient when I asked for clarification. The other issue is with the location. It’s not in the greatest area and traffic is always an issue around the hospital/medical office. I would have preferred to go somewhere closer to me, but Dr. Castro accepts self-pay patients and local ones do not. I do know he’s going to be retiring soon, so I am unsure what exactly happens to me and other patients at that time.”
“If you are looking for a good specialist please don't waste your time with Dr Castro. I was excited to find an endocrinologist to help me with my thyroid meds since the one I've been taking for 15 years is now discontinued in US. Dr Castro spend 15 minutes writing everything I mentioned, then disbelief my findings and needed to Google that info for another few more minutes to finally agree with me. He took 5 minutes to do a physical exam and the time was up. He never answered my questions neither gave me a good explanation of some facts that concerns me. Not to mention his office only accept CASH.”
“This Doctor and his staff are just awful. They only take cash, and refuse to provide receipts for hsa submission. They charge twice as much as other endocrinologists in the same area and I've had 3 appointments there and never waited less than an hour, once 2 hours and 20 mintues while the staff and doctor went to lunch. On top of the outright horrible customer service, they refuse to have do referrals, fmla or disability paper work. A woman who had an appointment around the same time was sobbing, begging them for help and they slammed there little window in her face. It was disturbing to see a person treated so callous. But, worst of all, to me, this doctor has no interest in you as a person. He never wants to have to think of you past the 10 minutes you pay him 500$ for. He will shove every basic medication down your throat, bad reactions? You must be taking them wrong. Concerns? You're just a silly patient who doesn't know. Questions? He tells you to Google it. This doctors office defeated me. America has the worst long-term/chronic medical care in the world, and Dr. Jaime Castro is why.”
“Had an appointment scheduled for 8:40 AM. Waited till 9:30 I was the only patient there and the doctor still had not shown up to the office. I came out of the room and said it’s 9:30 and my appointment was at 8:40. Is the doctor even here? They replied he’s on his way and should be here shortly. I had to be somewhere at 10 AM so I left and told them I was going to leave them a bad review. She said “that’s just fine”. No apology nothing also they insist on only taking cash. I’ve never been to a doctors office that only took cash. Sounds like income tax evasion. They were rude and unprofessional. I would think twice about coming to this doctor. He clearly has no respect for his patients time.”
“I had the good experience of visiting Dr Castro with my sister on 7/24/20024. She was the patient. Dr. Castro reminded me of how doctors were from yesteryear. He sat near my sister so he could hear and understand everything she said. her asked many questions and answered all her questions. He gave her advise. He didn't have a computer he patiently wrote everything down while taking his time. He was never in a hurry. I was amazed. He is amazing. We need to all go back to another time and start over so we can end up like we used to be. Jim Turner”
