“James L West’s Home Care Program review: Thanks to the Medicare Guide program, my husband is eligible for JLW Home Care He attends the JLW Day Program thanks to the VA. The Home Care has been a perfect adjunct to the day program. The Director placed a very capable, kind and eager to help young person with us for hours and days that flex according to our needs. Our helper is ready for anything from cleaning to shopping or transporting my husband with his walker to or from the day program. She’s honest and self-motivated. If I need to be gone, she knows to change linens, vacuum, mop, and she can set up pre-measured healthy cereal servings and dried fruit portions for the week. My husband and I greatly appreciate her consistency. She was our first and there’s been no change in caregiver. We’ve been blessed to have her help for months and will certainly continue. There’s a lot of comfort and assurance in having the same person that we can count on. She’s never late and never asks to leave early. She’s even going to help me prepare for his 75th birthday. The Home Care Program is the best thing to have entered our lives since the JLW Day Program. They say it takes a village to raise a child but it also takes a village to care for our seniors as we and they do their best to have quality in life with Alzheimer’s dementia. “My loved one started attending the James L. West Senior Day Program in September of 2025. He goes twice a week. He absolutely LOVES going. The staff are wonderful and interact with the attendees as if they were their own family. The have trainings and events for the attendees and caretakers/family. The daily events scheduled keep the attendees busy but with a purpose. I am posting a picture of my loved one with a Christmas ornament he made during the open house in December. He tells me the people are nice and that the center is a nice place. He especially likes that they play bingo and listen to mus8ic. This is a wonderful program and so glad I fo7bd out about it!!! I highly recommend it!”

“The relief I feel knowing my mother is safe & engaging in activities is immeasurable. She now has a reason to get up, put on makeup & have an outing. The fact she can’t carry on a conversation doesn’t seem to bother her. We are so fortunate to have JLW to turn to for help & guidance in caring for our loved ones who are not always the people they once were. I can attend my own appointments or just go to the store without worrying about her, & I don’t have to worry about keeping her occupied so she doesn’t just vegetate in front of her TV. Instead she is singing, flower arranging, & being with sweet people who don’t judge. I am so thankful for the day program & JLW’s entire organization.”

“James L. West Senior Day Program has been a lifesaver. When my sisters and I were trying to caregive on our own, we often felt Dad wasn’t stimulated and seemed super sleepy. This is no longer the case with his days at James L. West day program, and it made my dad a new person. It also gave my sisters and I time to ourselves to work and take care of our lives outside of caregiving. The staff are so good to my father, who is stage 6 Alzheimer’s. They make an effort to learn how to best interact with each program participant. With my dad, this meant letting him help with cleaning and giving lots of opportunities for singing, dancing, and physical activities. He loves going to “work” each day, and based on how I see the staff interact with him, they seem to love him, too. Having toured multiple daycares, I can tell you that James L. West and their staff are the BEST!”
