HVAC Contractor · Garland, TX
About
Blythe Service works as a licensed HVAC contractor based in Kaufman County, Texas. They carry an active state license number 13774 issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, with the next renewal due in April 2027. One of over five hundred such outfits recorded in the county, they handle the steady demand that comes from Texas heat, humidity, and sudden cold fronts that push home systems to their limits. Homeowners here face dust buildup, worn components, and the need for units that deliver consistent airflow without constant breakdowns.
Technician Barry takes on the bulk of the hands-on HVAC work, from motor replacements to full system builds and adjustments. One customer reported a motor job finished after a two-year wait that left the unit pulling strong and running solid. Another got clear options and pricing laid out after a parts house referral, covering what to do and what to skip on a rebuild. A van owner dropped off a 1984 model expecting Barry to bring it back to proper shape despite a backlog, while long-term drivers noted years of reliable fixes on their equipment through the same shop. Barry keeps jobs moving by explaining details upfront and staying on top of demand.
Homeowners keep coming back because the work holds up and the crew explains fixes without extra runaround, even when jobs stack up. Quality stands out in the results on motors and builds, while price lands fair for the outcome and communication stays direct on timelines and options. Speed can stretch with volume but the final performance earns the repeat business across the fourteen total reviews. DIRT Score 3.24 from 14 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Had my motor done from berry a little bit ago. A little over 2 years waiting but was well worth it. Strong motor, pulls hard. Pretty happy with the outcome. Have a few questions about the motor. Berry reach out when you can”
“I just met Barry some 3 or 4 months ago as Angel from the parts house on NW HWY recommended Barry to me for any machine work or engine build up. I stopped in to Barry's shop and explained to Barry what I have and Barry gave me all of my possible options and prices as well explained my does and don'ts due to the fact that we are dealing with an autostick and Barry let me decide on the direction and of course with his guidance I truly believe that I am receiving the best service and machine work for the price. One thing that you need to remember about Barry is this, he is a small independent shop (this is a good thing) that will steer you straight and honestly and will spend the time with you and your bug, engine case, heads or what ever it maybe so remember when it comes to turn around time. All that time he spent with you he is spending with others! He is probably one of the few that I trust in the auto business today considering I spent a great deal of my working life as a certified auto tech myself (just not bugs) so you guys who wrench yourself can understand when it comes to another working on your pride and joy it is in good hands with Barry. He is smart and knows his stuff and has a great love for the German automobiles after all he must considering the time he has under his belt. Stop by and pick his brain but just remember that he is the sole proprietor of his establishment so he would appreciate the business in return. May God Bless all and safe driving.”
“Brought my Vanagon to this gentleman. While I haven’t received it yet he has done all he can to keep up with the high demand. Looking forward to him finishing his previous builds and moving on to my 1984 Vanagon and getting it up to par again!”
“My wife and I have been driving VWs for over 40 years. Barry has been repairing our cars for many years. I also write for a Volkswagen WebSite. I often need answers to Readers' questions and solutions for problems encountered both locally and around the World. I am happy to say that I can turn to Barry for immediate answers regarding repairs and parts. Frankly, without the service provided by Blythe Enterprises, we would be lost! Thank you, Barry, for making it easier for us to own and maintain our Vintage Volkswagens. jay salser”
“BEWARE - Dropped an engine for my bus off in 2014. I was given a laundry list of excuses for the failure to deliver. 23 months later I paid over a grand to pick up a couple boxes of parts and an engine that is in the exact same condition I left it 2 years ago. Sad to lose 2 years, a sack of money and still not have a running bus.”
