Shurtemp Air Conditioning & Heating

Shurtemp Air Conditioning & Heating runs HVAC work out of Garland. The family owned operation has been going for 25 years and handles all makes and models. Darrell takes the calls and handles the jobs. They list motor change outs from 250 dollars, capacitor swaps from 150 dollars, new system installs from 2750 dollars, condenser installs from 1200 dollars, and coil swaps from 800 dollars. Refrigerant carries separate charges of 35 dollars per pound for R410 and 80 dollars per pound for R22. The shop stays open every day around the clock.

Customers call for capacitor replacements that get units running again without full system swaps. Some report quick furnace and air conditioner installs that left the attic clean and finished in short order. Coil replacements on downstairs units get done fast when requested. Others describe blower fan fixes and second opinions that avoided 15000 dollar replacements. Third party crews have left trash behind after installs and failed to return for filter checks or quote follow ups on oversized upstairs systems.

Darrell shows up on time for service calls and removes his shoes inside homes. Response comes quick on initial repairs and some past capacitor or fan jobs. Pricing beats big box stores according to the listed rates. Communication drops off after payment on certain installs and reply times stretch on later quote requests. Service covers the area around the Wylie address with 24 hour availability every day of the week.

Reviews total five with an average of four stars but note uneven follow through after the first visit. Recurring points include solid repair results on some calls and gaps in cleanup or return visits on others. DIRT Score 2 from 5 reviews on Finds.

“Customer service was great while I was in the process of buying the AC unit. Once installed and payment was done, No customer service. Third party installers were used who did not clean up, left trash in my attic, When I sent Darrell pictures, he just said I am sorry but made no effort to fix it. I was told the unit will accommodate a 4 inch filter, it does not. When I asked Darrell to come and check it so I can use a 4 inch filter, he did not come by, just said the " you must have bought a wrong filter". Good prices but no customer service!!”

“Very happy with my new install. I had a new a/c and furnace installed. Attic was left clean and they were finished quickly. I have used Shurtemp in the past for replacement capacitors and a blower fan and was equally happy with the prompt service.”

“My A/C unit quit. Milestone said I needed to replace the unit for $15k. Called Darrell at Shurtemp for a second opinion. He replaced the Capacitor and it started working. My A/C has continued working since Summer of 2020. I really appreciate an honest A/C & Heat company, like Shurtemp.”

“I had an AC Coil replaced by Darrell on my downstairs unit. He was very responsive and got the job done quickly. Afterwards I requested a quote on replacing my entire upstairs system because it's oversized and crack in the heat exchange. I received a reply asking on when I needed it, It was late summer/early fall so I wasn't in a rush yet. Not a peep since. His voicemail still works. Now I understand why it was so easy to get him to extend his labor warranty. I'll give him a few stars just because he got the first job done, and it still works. Would be 5 if he had the courtesy to respond.”

“Shurtemp heating and Air Condition is great he is on time. He is very good knows what to do has fixed both of my A/C units. He pulls his shoes off when he enters your house. Whatever your needs are I would recommend him a 100%”
