Hobart Services
HVAC Contractor · Grapevine, TX
About
Hobart Services maintains an office in Austin, Texas focused on kitchen equipment repair and related HVAC work for commercial kitchens. They support restaurants and food service operations that depend on durable mixers, dishwashers, and ventilation units to handle daily demands. The company operates under a larger network with products aimed at baking, cooking, and prep tasks. Austin's hot climate and active dining scene drive regular service needs when units break during busy periods. Technicians get dispatched for on-site fixes, though customer experiences show the process can vary widely depending on the job and timing.
They handle repairs on items like Berkel mixers and handle service calls that sometimes move quickly when the schedule allows. One customer noted a timely fix on a mixer but faced a steep $320 travel charge even though the location sat only sixteen miles from the office. Another reported responsive initial contact yet ran into trouble getting a receipt for company expense records because accounting stayed silent. Delays appear often, with some waiting three weeks only to learn the job never made it onto the schedule board at all. These calls cover warranty work and standard fixes but leave many small operators dealing with repeated follow ups.
Customers consistently mention problems with long wait times for service, unexpected fees that add up fast, and poor follow through on paperwork or scheduling updates. The low marks on communication and price stand out across the feedback, with few positive notes on overall reliability once the job starts. Speed gets occasional credit when things line up, yet quality and responsiveness drag the results down for most. DIRT Score 2.64 from 28 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“If you have warranty or are a large company that can afford repairs, this doesn’t really apply to you. Everyone else, heed my warning. At one point Hobart provided quality equipment and great repair services. As time progressed, everything changed with the company. Upon arriving the first time I accidentally stepped in the wrong side of the building. I was meet with a very cold, “do you need something? Service is over there”. Service took my equipment and grabbed my information. Somehow they messed up my email. After a few weeks I called them, which is when I found out about the mess up. I asked them if they could focus on the main issue and a basic question, could they complete the repair or not. Quiet again for a few weeks. I drove 1 hr to speak to someone which I was told the technician that was working on my equipment retired. Ok? You have my email and phone number, you couldn’t call? I was told I would have to repay the diag fee. Pleaded that they look at the main issue, agreed to reinspect, and gave them my info AGAIN. They lost my email AGAIN, so I never received any updated for a few weeks. I had it, so I drive to pick up my equipment. Parts and service team are slow and unprofessional. It’s no surprise they are losing contracts with major grocery stores. Stay away and find a coherent 3rd party repair facility. American industrial mechanical and even tomco provide better service.”
“Service was quick and responsive. I could not get a receipt out of them to expense back to my company. This was the only issue I had with this company. Accounting is nonresponsive.”
“Hobart was great until it wasn't. We have been waiting for 3 weeks to get service. We called and they said we are not even on the board. What!!?? This is not the first time either. It just keeps getting worse. Honestly, if you have options, go elsewhere. Ps. If Hobart actually read these: WE ARE STILL WAITING!”
“I will applaud Hobart located in Irving, TX on getting my Berkel Mixer repaired in a timely manner. The robbery aspect of this service call is getting charged $320 travel charge (on top of the labor) to get to my restaurant that is a mere 16 miles from the local service office. $20 a mile round trip is absolutely unacceptable! I will call the corporate office and lodge a complaint. No other service that we deal with for repairs and maintenance (or deliveries) charges such an outrageous rate for trip charges! UPDATE: In multiple calls to both the Corporate Office and the Local DFW Office to discuss this outrageous trip charge, I learned three things. 1) This large corporation determines the local trip charge and does not care to discuss it. 2) the response to this Google complaint also falls on deaf ears. The number supplied is to the local office and it immediately runs you through the automated system that places you on hold for a minimum 10 minutes, and there is no one that really handles customer complaints with any timely response. 3) I contacted the local branch manager two weeks ago and was assured I would get a call from the next person(s) up the chain. It still hasn't happened.”
“Hobart service is always more than accommodating. They always show up committed and ready to get any operation up and running as soon as possible. The technicians have great follow up correspondence, dispatch is always looking out for the customer and integrity is always relevant. The only issue I have is sometimes depending on the equipment parts are not readily available and there isn't any clear lead time given but everyone is at the mercy of parts distributors and we can't do anything about it accept blame Biden! LoL 😂”
