About
Bill Unzelman Appliance Repair runs out of San Antonio, Texas, with owner William Unzelman handling the work from one location at 6507 Amber Oak. The outfit has stayed in business for roughly 28 years and sticks to household appliance repairs that come up in homes across the city. One person keeps the operation tight and direct, which fits the steady demand from local weather swings and everyday use that wears down machines faster than folks expect. San Antonio homeowners see plenty of calls for units that quit mid-cycle or stop draining, so a focused repair service like this one cuts through the delays that bigger outfits often create.
They take on washing machine jobs where the unit suddenly stops draining and leaves clothes sitting in water, with tech Kevin arriving on schedule to check the problem, lay out the fix in plain terms, and run the machine through a full test before he left. Another tech named Oscar handled similar appliance breakdowns by moving fast through the steps, explaining each part of the repair so the homeowner knew what broke and why it was back online. The process stays simple with same-day or next-day visits when possible, clean workspaces once the job wraps, and no extra parts pushed unless they actually solve the issue at hand.
Work quality and fair pricing draw the strongest comments from customers who get their machines running again without surprise costs or return visits. Response speed helps when a breakdown hits during a busy week, though communication sometimes leaves a few details unclear until the tech arrives on site. Those steady results on the actual fixes add up across hundreds of jobs in the area. DIRT Score 5.0 from 1988 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“Kevin did an outstanding job fixing my washing machine. He was professional, punctual, and took the time to explain what the issue was and how he was going to fix it. He worked efficiently, made sure everything was working properly before leaving, and left the area clean. It's clear he takes pride in his work and genuinely cares about providing great customer service. I highly recommend Kevin to anyone needing appliance repairs. Thank you for the excellent service!”
“Zero stars preferred. I hesitated to write this because I’m not someone who usually leaves negative reviews. I felt compelled to offer a different perspective because my experience with Uptown Appliance Repair Houston was not a good one. What should have been a simple dishwasher repair took 6 months to resolve, largely because the handling of the damage that occurred to our floor required repeated follow-ups on my part. I chose Uptown Appliance Repair based on its reviews, but my experience was very different. The dishwasher was eventually repaired, but on the first visit the replacement part was damaged when removing from the packaging, requiring a second appointment. During the second visit, the technician scratched my hardwood floor and acknowledged it. I had offered a blanket in advance, but they said it wasn’t needed. The scratch was short in length but deep, requiring an appropriate repair. My main concern was not the accident itself, but how it was handled afterward. I obtained a repair estimate Uptown requested that I get. Uptown Appliance Houston did not respond until I followed up repeatedly. Rather than discussing the issue directly, the owner asked to send his own contractor to assess the damage. That contractor was instructed to not provide me estimates or proposal details in writing. Both contractors (my person and theirs) verbally recommended replacing the two to three damaged boards and sanding and refinishing the whole area. The flooring company I found said they typically extend the repair (sanding and staining) across the threshold into adjacent rooms for seamless blending of ‘continuous board’. Uptown’s contractor who visited my home recommended the same but stopping at the door threshold- a less intrusive approach that I actually preferred. I’m not a flooring expert, so I trusted their professional judgment and even asked my original floor company to revise their quote to match Uptown’s more limited scope. I was willing to move forward, however, trust was lost when Uptown’s contractor told me they could not give me the estimate and Uptown still did not follow-up. When I finally followed up with Uptown’s contractor, I learned that Bobby Fierros had rejected his own contractor’s recommendation and instructed him to do a quick patch repair and “just get it done.” His rationale for not doing a recommended repair was because it wasn't a nice enough floor. He accused me of trying to get a whole new floor, which was absurd and I wouldn't have time to have that much work done anyway. I just wanted it fixed to the standards of two flooring professionals suggested, not to the standard of a appliance repair professional. Had Bobby been transparent and allowed his contractor to send me their original proposal with an estimated cost I would not be writing this review. We eventually reached resolution only after I formally escalated the matter and was tired of dealing with it over 6 months. Accidents happen; what matters is how a business responds. Service recovery is important. Based on how this was handled by the owner, I would never do business with Uptown Appliance Repair Houston.”
“Our washing machine suddenly stopped draining, and it quickly turned into one of those stressful, “we need this fixed now” situations. After calling Uptown Appliance Repair, I immediately felt reassured. They were responsive, professional, and able to schedule a diagnostic visit within a day, which already set them apart. Alberto came out this morning, and I truly cannot say enough good things about the experience. He was punctual, courteous, and incredibly knowledgeable. What stood out most was how clearly he explained the issue—no confusing jargon, no talking over me—just honest, straightforward communication that made me feel informed and confident in the repair. He worked efficiently while still being careful and respectful of my space, which I really appreciated. You can tell he takes pride in his work and values the customer experience just as much as the repair itself. It’s not easy to find a company that is both reliable and fairly priced, but Uptown Appliance Repair absolutely delivers on both. From start to finish, the entire process was smooth, professional, and stress-free. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone in need of appliance repair. Truly a five-star experience.”
“Oscar was absolutely so amazing. He was very efficient and explained everything to me. I felt absolutely happy when he was done. I would recommend him to anyone. Thank you again.”
“I had a great experience with Uptown Appliance Repair. They were able to schedule the diagnostic visit and subsequent repair very quickly. Alberto was very efficient and knowledgeable. He answered several questions I had regarding ongoing operation and best practices with my washing machine. I had a 15 year old LG washer that leaked and needed a new detergent dispenser and hot water valve. It had been an excellent appliance and I preferred to repair vs. replace. Communications from Uptown were very clear and timely. I would recommend them for appliance repair.”
