About

Dependable Comfort Air & Heat Inc works out of Houston, Texas on HVAC systems for residential properties. The crew takes on repairs and full equipment swaps for air conditioners and furnaces in a city where summer heat and humidity push units hard year after year. Some customers have kept them on call across multiple homes for two decades, relying on the same outfit for everything from quick fixes to complete installations when older systems fail. Their local presence means they understand the specific demands Houston weather puts on cooling and heating equipment without needing to explain basic conditions.

The company performs full replacements of indoor and outdoor AC units, weekend emergency visits for loud or non-cooling systems, and regular maintenance on both air conditioners and furnaces. One long-term client had them install roughly eight new AC units and a couple of furnaces across five different houses while also scheduling ongoing service to catch problems early. Homeowners have reported successful outcomes after complete swaps that left everything operating without issues, and they respond to calls about noisy units that stop cooling properly even on off days. Technicians handle the hands-on work of diagnosing and swapping components directly at the property.

Customers note the crew shows up quickly when a system fails and delivers solid results on straightforward repair or replacement jobs that keep homes comfortable through the seasons. Long-term users praise the consistency across years of maintenance and installs at multiple addresses. The middling score comes from mixed experiences where some technicians appeared less sure on the job and left problems unresolved after extended visits, leading to extra charges without a fix. What Customers Say

Dependable Comfort is a great AC/Heating Company. They are honest, skilled, and fast at repairing or replacing AC units. I have been using them for a couple years and just had them fully replace my outdoor/indoor AC units and it was a great experience. Everything works perfectly. Highly recommend them.

I was referred to this company by a friend. Upon buying my first house, I noticed the air conditioner was making a loud noise and did not seem to be cooling down. My friend referred me to Dependable Comfort for repairs. It was a Saturday but they said they could come out right away. I knew that would cost more but it was July and very warm outside. The lady I spoke to told me to turn the ac off until their technician could get there to prevent further damage. I did. The young technician came to my house and started talking about how my ac most likely needed to new capacitor. I have lived in an apartment up to this point so I asked him what that was and how much it cost to gain some knowledge. He had to step outside before he could give me a cost. I feel as if this company took advantage of me. He comes back saying the cost of the part was $152.88 plus $150.00 for a Saturday service call plus $10 for a fuel service charge. The service technician stayed ten minutes after putting the new capacitor on to make sure the house started to cool down. It did feel like it was at first. Yet the next thing I know my AC was not working at all. I could not afford another Saturday service call from this group and knew a friend who worked on ACs. He said he would come look at it. He then informs me that my motor was blown. My motor had no problems before my service with dependable comfort. He says he can get the parts directly from the wholesaler so we go to buy a new motor. We bring the info previous one that is broken with us. The guy that works in the supply store told us that was not the correct capacitor needed for the motor my ac unit used. So I got to buy not only a new motor but a mother capacitor (in the correct size) as well. Wouldn’t you know that capacitor was less than $20 and dependable comfort charged me over $150 plus $150 for labor (which only caused more damage) and gas. Monday I called the company to report the problem and report to huge price increase they put on the capacitor. The lady said the technician put in the same sized capacitor as he removed. However, there was a reason why I called them in the first place. The house was not cooling down and making a loud noise. They tell me there is nothing they could do to help because I had someone else fix the problem. No way was I going to pay an inexperienced technician to come back and cause more damage all while taking full advantage on my lack of knowledge on the subject. Let’s just say I learned a whole lot about my ac unit that weekend. I wanted to warn others of this distrustful company to hopefully prevent someone else going through the same heat and horror that I did my first weekend of moving into the house. Use caution if you are a new homeowner or lack expertise in air conditioning because this group will take full advantage of you like they did to myself July 2024.

We've used DC for about 20 years, and they've done work at 5 different houses for us, which included repairs, routine PM-type maintenance for AC and furnaces and installation of new units (maybe 8 new AC units and a couple of furnaces over the years at various houses). In general their techs are quite experienced and knowledgeable, and we've found them to provide good service. We originally started working with them when they were subcontracted by our GC when adding a new AC/H unit during an extensive renovation of our residence. We have found that if we had a problem with an installation or repair, they responded professionally and quickly to make things right. Office staff are also very responsive.

They did come out immediately when needed. However the tech was nice, but seemed inexperienced. He was at my house for 3-4 hours and was on the phone majority of the time with someone helping him. He didn’t find the problem and simply said it might be an electrical problem. I paid them twice as there was a miscommunication within the company. I gave my card number when I initially called and the tech asked for my card again, we had to call and we received a refund for the 2nd charge . I then paid an electrician to come out the next day. The electrician showed us it was not an electrical problem within 10 minutes. A switch to the furnace was off and the AC came right on. I received a follow up call and relayed this information to the company and they said they’d call back after speaking with the tech. I was supposed to receive a call back but didn’t. I basically paid $400 to flip a switch.

Let's face it, there are a lot of bad AC servicing companies in the greater Houston area, and I was finding every one of them until I found Dependable Comfort AC. They came out listened to what my issues were from the previous service companies, showed up on time and best of all, they actually fixed my problem. I will be using them moving forward!!
