About
Fuji Air Conditioning & Heating works in Houston, Texas, specializing in HVAC services for residential properties. They deal with Fujitsu mini-split installations that feature outdoor compressors and several indoor heads for targeted cooling and heating. Houston's climate brings intense summer heat that demands strong air conditioning performance, along with sudden cold snaps requiring backup warmth. The company gets involved when homeowners want alternatives to whole-house systems, providing options that fit specific room needs and usage patterns.
They install these split systems in homes, setting up multiple indoor units connected to one or two outdoor compressors to handle different zones. Customers have reported jobs involving repairs on units after several years of use, such as fixing indoor heads that stop working or addressing problems with large outdoor components. In one case, a system provided cooling during warm periods and heat during sleety weather without needing the central setup. Service calls often cover part lookups and maintenance on existing Fujitsu equipment that homeowners already own in quantity. Work focuses on keeping these units running through the demands of daily use in the local environment.
Reviews show mixed feedback on how these systems hold up over time and the level of support provided. Some homeowners note the units handle Houston's weather swings well for both cooling and heating needs. Others point out frequent breakdowns leading to repair costs or full replacements sooner than expected. Communication around parts and warranty details draws criticism in several accounts. The overall rating reflects this balance of practical benefits against durability concerns. DIRT Score 3.49 from 63 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say
“I installed a Fujitsu split system with two outdoor compressors and five indoor heads. I was told Fujitsu was “almost as reliable as Mitsubishi” and backed by a 10‑year warranty. That turned out to be completely misleading. After only seven years of extremely light use, two indoor heads developed coil leaks—an unacceptable failure rate for a system in this price range. But the real disaster is Fujitsu’s so‑called “warranty.” It’s essentially a shell game designed so the customer pays for everything while Fujitsu avoids all responsibility. To get warranty parts, you must hire a contractor at your own expense just to diagnose the problem. Then the contractor must order parts through independent distributors who have zero obligation to honor Fujitsu’s warranty. These distributors demand full upfront payment for the parts—so you pay again for something that is supposedly covered. After the repair, you’re forced to pay to ship the defective parts back. Once those parts leave your hands, you lose all control. The distributor has no incentive whatsoever to return anything to Fujitsu because they already got your money. And even if they do send the parts back, there is no guarantee Fujitsu will reimburse them. And even if reimbursement happens, there is no guarantee your contractor will ever pass that money back to you. You may end up chasing people for months or taking them to small claims court. This is not a warranty. It’s a maze designed to exhaust the customer until they give up. Fujitsu hides behind layers of distributors and contractors so they never have to deal with the defective equipment they sold. Instead of sending a qualified technician or handling claims directly like a reputable manufacturer, Fujitsu dumps the entire burden—costs, logistics, risk—onto the homeowner. After going through this process, it’s obvious why so many contractors refuse to work with Fujitsu systems anymore. The equipment fails early, and the warranty is practically unusable”
“If I could give them less than a one I would. The reason they are one of the cheapest mini split companies is because their systems break in less than 5 years. I have 2 large outdoor units and multiple heads for them....in less than 5 years....I have spent thousands in repairs and am now replacing them. And their company has refused any help. Even going so far as now stating they never spoke to my technicians ever....even when the technicians were on the phone with them in front of me. It is the most outrageous customer service....the most horrible company. I will never buy ANYTHING fujitsu ever again. Stay away from this company if you don't want to have to keep sinking money into your units. Spend a little more now and not have to keep sinking money in in a few years and end up replacing everything in less than 5. And not only do they now deny everything....but now they won't even talk to me so I decided the review was the only way to go...and to save everyone else the heartache and the thousands of dollars down the tubes....”
“Our Fujitsu mini-split saved the day! We were introduced to this unit by Gail Kearney who showed us where and how the unit could be installed. We’ve used it in the warmer months as a.c. negating the need to run our whole house system. Wonderful! Two nights ago, during a cold and sleety weather period here in the NYC northern suburbs, our furnace failed! I had been particularly cold overnight but thought it just me. When I went to turn on the heat I thought our thermostat was not communicating with our furnace. Sadly it was the furnace. So…a cold and bleak SUNDAY we called for a furnace repair. Unfortunately the malfunctioning part would not be available until Monday. It was then I remembered that the mini-split had a heating function!!! It worked perfectly, making our bedroom comfortable and cozy during this episode. It is quiet, unobtrusive and has never failed us. We have had use of this same unit in many hotels. So… thank you Fujitsu and Gail for recommending this product!”
“Terrible customer service! Refused to help me with a simple part look up. Will never buy their products again...wish I did not own 14 of them!!!!”
“Choosing Fujitsu mini splits was a horrible decision. I paid over $18,000 for a 5 unit system to be installed 5 years ago, and multiple units have failed within the first 3 years. The 10 year guarantee covers the parts, but no technician wants to deal with making the repairs because of the high failure rates. And Fujitsu doesn't cover the cost of labor or refrigerant, which are astronomical. Garbage product sold by a garbage company.”
