About

Pappas Restaurants Inc handles HVAC needs from its base in Houston, Texas, as part of the facilities work that keeps multiple restaurant locations running day to day. The group manages mechanical systems in commercial kitchens and dining spaces across the city, where heat and humidity put constant strain on equipment. Workers begin at apprentice level and receive training to handle repairs and upkeep that support steady operations without pulling focus from the front of the house. This setup covers the behind the scenes demands of keeping air flow and cooling consistent in busy food service buildings throughout the area.

Houston summers push HVAC units hard in restaurant settings, so the team tackles routine maintenance on cooling systems along with fixes for compressors, ductwork, and ventilation tied to kitchen exhaust. Jobs often involve quick responses to breakdowns at spots like the South Main location or near Hobby airport to limit downtime during peak hours. They address issues such as uneven temperatures in dining rooms or problems with control units that affect food storage areas, working around operating schedules to avoid interrupting service. Common tasks include inspecting electrical ties to HVAC equipment and replacing worn parts before failures hit during the worst weather.

Reviews from customers point to repeated problems with how issues get handled at the restaurant level and with prices climbing over time, which lines up with the lower marks across speed and communication. Complaints focus on lack of follow through from managers and value that does not match expectations after years of regular visits. These patterns show up consistently in feedback about daily operations rather than isolated events. DIRT Score 2.44 from 62 reviews on Finds.

What Customers Say

“I reached out to the corporate office about one of the worst restaurant customer service experiences I’ve ever had in my 58 years. Neither the general manager nor the district manager called me from the location, as requested. As you can clearly see, Papa’s restaurants do not care about their patrons' business. They feel you are replaceable with the next person in line, so I definitely will be taking my money elsewhere. Not a problem, Pappas. The message is loud and clear.”

“I typically order takeout and never step inside this location, but after today’s experience, I’m honestly glad I finally saw what goes on behind the counter at Papa’s Bar-B-Q on South Main — and even more glad I’ll never be returning. I placed a simple to-go order for a baked potato and waited about ten minutes with a buzzer in hand. When it went off, I approached the counter expecting to pick up my food… only to find out my order had mysteriously vanished. A different employee stepped in and kindly offered to remake it on the spot. So far, no problem. The problem started when she handed the potato to the meat cutter. While sitting and waiting, I watched him the entire time. I saw him wipe his nose with his bare hand — and not once did he wash, sanitize, or clean his hands in any way before touching my food. When I told the employee that this was unacceptable and I did not want that meat, she immediately became defensive. The manager then stepped in, but things somehow got worse. I mentioned that the portion on the potato didn’t even look like the 4 ounces they claimed it was. There was a scale right next to the cutter, but I had been standing there long enough to know he hadn’t used it once. Instead of properly weighing fresh meat, he took the meat off the potato, put that on the scale, and then put it right back on the food. At that point, I was done. I requested a refund. Meanwhile, I couldn’t help but notice the dining area — dirty tables everywhere, no staff attempting to clean or prepare the space for guests. It was a mess. When I asked for my money back, the manager gave me attitude, and the meat cutter actually glared at me and stuck his tongue out — behavior I wouldn’t expect in a professional restaurant, especially from someone handling food. If you value your health, your safety, and basic cleanliness, I strongly urge you to avoid the Papa’s Bar-B-Q on South Main near Reliant Stadium. This was not just disappointing — it was unsanitary and unacceptable.”

“I am at the Houston Hobby airport. Upon my arrival I went to Papasitos Cantina. I was looking at the Menu. Unaware the place was closed. As I was going to order I was told the place was closing. That’s ok. However, the woman in lime green shirt said yes we are closing I said I’ve been here. Not standing. I was using a wheelchair. I informed her that I could have been told the place was closed a few minutes earlier. She started to talk to another employee and was laughing. I feel insulted. The manager came out. I decided to leave for a minute to tell him of the complaint. His answer was flippant. You see these cameras. They tell the story. If that’s the case. The employee laughing should be on the same film. I was voicing my displeasure of management’s handling of a situation. Is being on a wheelchair funny? He said don’t you see people cleaning? And used the camera as a way to say it’s there. Like saying I have the power. Poor interpersonal and management of employees. Ok it’s closed be nice. You don’t have to be made like I’m committing some quarrel. I truly did not know. And the female employee laughed as they talked. How would you like your mother to be treated at a restaurant after a full day of travel. .”

“We have been ordering the Pappadeaux seafood salad for many years. We specifically can recall before Covid the price of the seafood salad being somewhat reasonable as the years have gone on we’ve now gone from about an $18 per salad price range to our most recent purchase, which was $34. Pappadeaux’s does split it in two portions for us. Recently, they decided that it would be best to give us a quarter wedge each for our salad pictures attached it was pretty sad lettuce is pretty inexpensive. They used to have a very nice mix of field greens, but no longer the manager was very apologetic but this is coming from the corporate office. Obviously Papas does no longer care What people think of their portion sizes and cost.”

“First and foremost the Willowbrook location steals your food and eats your food before giving you your food. I used them for a catering last week and when I arrived to my event half the food wasn’t there. I had to drive back to this location to get the rest of my food. Then later on in the week went to order a chicken salad and made it home almost but most of my protein (meat) for the salad was missing and I paid 32.00 for a salad that only had lettuce. When requested refund in full one of the managers stated he would refund me. When I went back the next day a different manager told me he couldn’t give me my money back and I would need to get a gift card. When I explained to him what the other manager told me and I proceeded to ask what is the policy he told me he couldn’t tell me the policy. This post isn’t to keep others from going to eat at this establishment. This post is to show how customer service is horrible these days and how these so called managers aren’t managing properly. These people are working with the public but don’t care about delivering great customer service. As of now I haven’t received my money back . They wanna give me a gift card and they keep stating the company doesn’t have a policy.”
